Why did square cheapen the game with N64 style macro icons

I have a question for the developers that I hope they can provide an answer to. Why did you change the awesome former user macro icons we could assign to our user macros to the cheap N64 style ones we now have?
Please bring back the original ffxiv arr launch user macro icons

Also why is the no place on here to attach an image only an url?

You can use /micon "<icon name here>"
They aren't gone, just the way to use them is changed

If this is true is there a list for all the icon names as I can not find one for my crafts

I'm not sure, for crafts I use various arrows, crystals and Leaf Turn for my crafting macros

Most of those are my crafting macros (all the blank icon ones are certain battle macros, the Hawk's Eye and the Fast Blade are hide head and weapon respectivly, and the second image is my 3 star crafting macros), I'm just sad I can't use Leaf Turn II's icon

Ok, for starters: Monk with macros for GCD skills are horrible, please don't use them
And the icon won't show up until it's placed on your hotbar, just like you can see on my images in my previous post, 5 of those are set as such (those with actual skill icons were set before this change happened)

ok now there is another question I asked how do I add an image to my post like u did with the macro icons? It would be so easy to show what I have and what there is no longer available to show the difference to better explain things to the community. Thank You

The icon that looks like the picture frame, put the URL of the picture in there and it'll automatically add the text for the picture

there is no url it is saved as a JPG on my desktop. However thanks for the help clarifying what is going on with the macros Cheers happy gaming.

You have to upload it to imgur or photobucket or something similar first. That will give you the url.

you can also make a blog post on your character page through the lodesetone. and upload the image to your blog post. and get a URL to use like NintenPyjak64 suggested.

also here is a list of macro icons not viewable in the default selection window. like previously stated, just use the /micon "ICON NAME" command line. it won't show the icon in your User Macros window. but only when placed on the hotbar/XHB.

Which is a huge issue as well. It would be so much easier to differentiate what macros are which in the list if they actually did show the appropriate skill icon.

I would say it's an issue but not a "huge" issue since you can hover over the macro and see the name tag you gave it

From a comparison perspective to other popular games it kind of is. FFXIV has become such a polished gem of an experience since Yoshi-P took over that it's a bit of a wtf to see something like this overlooked. It's very unfriendly compared to XI where you could see the name of the macro in your palette, or other popular mmos that inherit the icon AND show the name across it without needing a guess and a mouseover.

What's not a big deal to you is a needless hindrance for other people who make extensive use of the macro system.
