Repair system time/gil sync farce.

The entire repair system stems from asian f2p mmos as a gil and time sink to keep people playing longer and slightly hinder there progression. It doesnt belong in a P2P game or western/EU mmo at all. It only caters in a P2P game to a very small crafting crowd and only creates frustration and in some people rage. It has a very negative impact on a friendly game enviroment. The entire idea of SE to make main crafting classes and try to keep them in the lime light might just hurt the game more than it helps because people in general are selfish and greedy and few and far between are helpful and caring. So far people go outa theyre way to be helpful and repair and little to no cost; but in time im sure they will introduce some element to the game that will turn that to the opposite. IE... relic weapons/gear of some sort that will require heaps of gil and people will begin to get greedy. Go ahead and flame me now for being reasonable and logical.

Japan is in Asia, this is an Asian MMO. There is no logic in your post.

Logically, crafting needs to remain an important part of the FFXIV world. Also logically, it's better to require repairs than to lose exp after every time you die.

- since when did i state japan was in EU/Western?!
- IF/when this game becomes more popular it will easily have more non asian subscribers than asian. And most of the content implemented or being planned is based off of western/eu Successful ideas/models.
- I simply stated a fact that mmo's w/ repair systems are a general staple of asian F2P mmo's as a means to empty peoples wallets.

In 2011 i shouldnt have to reselect everytime i want to craft the same thing over and over and over again. And i cant wait till they implement the death penalty weapon deterioration and people start whining because theyre weapons go from 100% to 20% just after a few deaths and no real fighting. You know people its possible to make a game thats enjoyable and challenging w/o adding hinderances like weapon repairs. If ya'll like weapon repairs so much maybe you should petition se to add lose of gear when u die like some hardcore diablo.

Let me see if I understand your complaint. You're not willing to spend the time, effort, or gil to level your crafts, so you can repair your own gear. But you're also not willing to pay others to do it.

actually i completely disagree as i enjoy crafting more in this game than i have any other mmo i've played. i enjoy it alot more than putting in a few items and letting the game decide what i do.... the other games are game induced botting to me.

Unless you were talking about another mmo, this would be where you called FFXIV a western mmo.
As for your gear degrading from 100 to 20% too fast. This is why they're implementing tiers for raise spells and giving us raise 1 at rnk 14. If you're going to complain about one change, acknowledge the others that go hand-in-hand.

Also, if crafting is boring, you dont actually have to do it. You can pay others to fix your items. With the new repair system, it will be even easier to find someone to fix your gear. And if you dont craft, you can be out making gil to pay those people. Dont assume that in adding the diversity of many, many different classes (craft or otherwise) they are requiring you to play any one of them.
You can play this entire game playing a fisherman if you want to. Nothing is making you do anything else.

Man, you have no sense of community do you? Its like you're one of those cheap anime villains that think they can judge humanity because of a few bad experiences in childhood, except you're a gamer judging on gamer nature. Ever hear of "Citation needed"? Community in an MMO is one of many things that keeps people playing, and crafting and weapon repair does in fact bring people together. It's only appropriate for a Japanese game developer you base their content and efforts primarily on the Japanese market. You dont understand that mmos need gil sinks, or the market gets flooded with gil and any new players cant afford anything because everyone has so much gil, gil sinks help to avoid mass inflation.

And in your op you said repair systems dont belong in a western/EU or P2P mmo, which says you think this is a western mmo. Even if most of the playerbase ends up western it doesnt make it a western mmo, its still a Japanese mmo becuase thats where its made.

My only convern with the ffxiv duct tape. Is everyone will sell it and there will be no real money to be made from it.
Also WoW a western mmo, has a repair system >.>. Most western rpg i've played have a repair system.

But in away this might help the wards out a bit. First off, this will limit the inventory issue people made for themselves. This will also help retainer storage and useage. Pretty much people will sell gear and dark matter. Maybe even mats for gear. Heck maybe the npc venders selling it will be at a decent price that it will be a decent gil synce. So though I think a ffxiv duct tape item is kinda dumb, it is growing on me. But all in all it is a silly idea and I cam just see people making red neck jokes about the item.
