So sick of missing my queue because of storyline

I love the storyline. I hate that I'm punished for watching it when my queue happens to pop while I'm in a long dialog. Can't it just be set up so that when I click "accept" on my dungeon finder queue, it just acts like I never talked to the NPC in the first place so that I can start the dialog over again when I get out of the dungeon?

Especially because you can't go back and view those cut scenes at the inn.

Took words right out of my mouth! Though not ALL cutscenes are covered though (i.e. ones IN dungeons such as Praetorium)

The bigger issue in this regard is that not all quest dialog is in cutscenes at all, and none of the non-cutscene dialog is available later. If you're talking to an NPC when the DF queue pops, the game requires that you must complete that dialog before you can accept the duty. (Until you do, trying to click "Commence" will bring up a "You're too busy to do that" error.) The only way to enter the duty before the opportunity times out is to keep clicking Next-Next-Next-Next-Next as fast as you can to get the dialog over with quickly. And if it was part of a one-time quest, then once you do that you'll never see any of that dialog again.

The OPs suggestion would solve that problem. We need a way of exiting out of dialog other than by completing it.

Maybe you could, I dunno, not queue while you're doing story quests?

That's easy for a tank to say. Sometimes you're in a queue for a couple hours and you might come across a new piece of NPC dialog, not knowing how long it'll take.

Unless your assumption is everyone should be level 50 by now and/or do research on every quest dialog before you talk to the NPC. For example, sometimes people just want to start a quest and finish it later. But instead of the quick and easy "accept a leve" system, they're treated to a 30 minute long NPC cutscene

Just kidding btw, it would be nice if you could exit then restart the dialog.

Yep, because I certainly didn't want to continue the story while waiting for my 30 minute roulette queue to pop.

Just leave the pop up hanging there, finish reading the text very quickly, then click commence if it has not timed out already. In the case of cutscenes, just about all of them in the whole game can be watched again, you just need to be aware that the book in the inn room is divided into different categories and look properly for the one you want.

Sometimes when I was talking to Minfilia there would be pages and pages of text, so finishing that quickly was near impossible. Also, since I play on PS3, loading back out of those cut scenes would take 10-15 seconds, further cutting down the time I had to complete them.

Really, the cut scenes I'm talking about here are the ones with text but no voices, as those are the ones I've had problems with, and generally don't find available at the inn. Those or the "wall of text" that shows up when initiating some quests, such as certain job quests.

That's the problem. Unless you're already on the very last dialog window (and the chances of that are slim given just how many screens of dialog most conversations seem to have), you're guaranteed that the DF will have timed out if you try doing that. You have a choice. You can either read the text so you know the story, OR you can accept the duty that you've been waiting half an hour or more to do. You CANNOT do both. We need a way of exiting out of dialog without finishing it (and without any quests being advanced as though we'd finished it), so that that dialog can be available later when we have time to read it.

And no, having cutscenes available at the Inn doesn't help this problem (or rather, it only helps one little piece of the problem but not the rest), because the majority of dialog isn't in cutscenes at all. It's the regular non-cutscene conversations with NPCs that create most of the issues here.

The best solution I think would be to simply provide a way to break out of NPC conversations by pressing the cancel button twice, similar to the way it works when a cinematic is in progress.

The story line cinematics for The Praetorium and Castrum Meridianum are oddly located under "Duties" in the inn. And playing them back in the inn, they feel out of context, since you don't know how or where in the dungeon a cinematic was triggered or what you did that preceded it. Story line Lengthy event triggered cinematics do not belong multiplayer dungeons. When I first tried both of the dungeons, everybody rushed ahead when I tried to watch them. I got completely separated and felt forced to leave because it appeared I couldn't continue.

I'd rather have them add the non-cutscene dialogues to the Inn book :(
