SE Allow us to color all pieces of gear not just a part of it

it wouldnt be hard for you to do it, each gear has 2-4 different color spots, allowin us to color each spot differently would allow the player to A. show his/her creativity, B. allow us to stand out more, and C. Allow us to be unique.

PLEASE DEVS LOOK INTO THIS

I support this idea. There are lots of pieces of gear I would like to use for vanity that look really good except they will have an ugly color of leather that can't be changed, or the best looking scale mail has ugly brown scales, or that blue scarf on armorers af that can't be dyed and clashes with everything else or.....etc.

We need to be able to dye secondary parts of gear.

I think duo-tone painting for some pieces should be a thing. Three to four paints per piece would get excessive imo

This. I was so disappointed when I discovered I couldn't dye the black pattern of my Darklight Breeches of Healing to red like I wanted :/ A secondary dyeing options would be great.

Need this badly. There's one particular jacket on here (I think it's raptor skin) that has this weird purple/lavender colour going on that you can't dye. It's hideous.

naw that wouldnt be excessive at all, it would like i said allow us to express ourselves plus wht is there was a color on ur piece that jus did not match leaving it there would belike an itch u couldnt scratch and would annoy the crap out of u

This is a good idea and two seems reasonable. But I would think it is something that is a long way away. They do have a lot of other projects on the go.

Ever play guild wars 2? Each piece you could change any two colors lol. Also you could combine any for colors together to. Everyone looked unique. One major flaw with this game. No reason new armors can't be dyed or the artifact armor

They're already in the process of fixing this. When they made changes to how dye work for Darklight gear it included dyes applying variations of the chosen color to an entire piece, not affecting a single color and leaving the rest at its default.

They'll be applying this to future armor but it'll take a while if they go back and change it for everything.

Let us dye shields first, please.

Major flaw? Dying armor? Come on.

It would be nice to dye the other parts of armor and I imagine it will come at some point.

I really can't see a reason not to do this. I fully support this idea.

That's not what we're talking about. We want to be able to pick the colors of the different parts.

I do not support this. I rather the art teams, and graphical teams focus more on new items and content. Something like this would require a new/modified UI to handle the dying, revision of pretty much every armor asset. I much rather they spend their time giving blm vs smn and whm vs sch their own unique graphics or at least even shades. MNK, DRG, ARC have different armors, or at least different colors on their armors, while mages and healers share the exact same.

However honestly even that is a low low low priority in my mind, more content with sidegrades of top gear is what i would truely love.

The reason they don't do this is because it would reduce the amount of armor models they could reuse. Notice how, for example, there are like 6 bliaud armors in the game that all use the same model, many of which are dyable. The difference between them is the part of the armor that is dyable, and the color of the non-dyable parts.

If you could dye every part of each armor model, some of the stuff they reuse would literally be exactly the same as other armor pieces save the default dye color.

It's kinda dumb but that's how it is.

yea and how would that be bad? like u said they are usin the same models but with diff colors, that wouldnt change much. that type of thing is what all creators of games do whn they are lazy rehashe models and add a new color to it. so what u have jus said makes no since what so ever. they need to jus stop with the whole reusin old models
anyways even if we can color the items diffrently that wouldnt make the new items useless, becuase certain items have different texture jus like on some of the bilauds, some made of felt, cloth, wool and so forth they each have their own seperate texture so it woudnt exactly look the same becuase the textures define the item

No, it makes perfect sense. I am sorry you are unable to understand it. They're not going to make new armor models for *every* single new piece of gear they release. They already make new models for Coil, CT, token gear, seasonal items, some vanity stuff, and occasionally a new dungeon set (like the ones that drop from Brayflox/Halatali/Lost City). That's a lot of art assets being created for every patch. But they add more gear sets every patch than they have unique armor models, so they need to reuse models somewhere. I'm not defending or condemning the practice, I'm simply explaining the reality of it. Sure, you could ask SE to stop being "lazy" but once you realize how much work it takes to design a new piece of armor you'll understand why they don't add 10 new sets with every single patch.

I *guarantee* there will be reused models in 2.3. I bet we'll see the new 2.2 dungeon sets recolored and dropped in a new dungeon or as part of a new crafting recipe, possibly even dyable. It won't be new armor, technically, since they're reusing models, but because you can't dye the original models to look exactly the same, it'll be new enough for them to re-release it.

each bilaud has its own texture dependin on its type, wool,felt,velveteen etc some for metal armor, cobalt,iron,silver, same for leather, boarskin, piesteskin, etc

YES, OMG YES PLEASE!!!

Honestly, the secondary colors on most gear prevent you from using other colors than black, grey, *white* or another shade of the secondary color.
Goldsmith body, head and hands, Armorer body (scarf), darklight gear, various leather and scale armor,...

Also, most colors used on existing gear can't be matched with the colors available in the dye system.
White dye doesn't match white, light blue dye doesn't match light blue, black is not black, darklight red can't be matched with any dye either, and so on.
I'd love if SE could streamline their colors to either give us the same colors they used for making gear or change the colors to match our dyes.

EDIT:
The current system just makes it hard to really create your own look, because even if you use the same color on pieces of gear from different sets, the outcome doesn't match very well.
If I remember correclty, SWTOR did a nice job with dyes. You could just dye all pieces of gear to match your body armor for example, and the pieces would really look like they were a set.

We should be able to dye all of are gear including AF gear.

I'd be happy with an ability to dye the metric fuckton of gear items currently in the game that just plain can't be dyed at all. Such as ALMOST EVERY SINGLE UNIQUE ITEM

I want this, I love the Spring Dress but would love to be able to dye the rest of it instead of the trim.

I'm ok with making the dye function like it does on darklight. Where every part of the item gets a shade of the dye used.
