One atma since this garbage 2.2 patch came out. 31 days left and bye bye to FFXI-2.
I really think they should emergency maintenance this crap and make their subscribers happy lol. Ive seen a lot of the lucky people on these forums trashing people for thinking atma drops are a challenge but i disagree. A challenge is beating hydra chimera a dungeon three hm primals and getting some tomes. A 1 percent drop rate is playing white knight chronicles again and i can even look at that game after the hours of farming hard scorpion heads and only getting 3.
If it was that big of a deal, they would have fixed it ages ago. Square recently acknowledged that the number of people with Animus weapons is extremely low, so they need time to figure out how to tweak the Atma and Animus quests without making them too easy.
The myth grind is extreme so i think atma drops should be better it still doesnt make it easy or they could make 12 trials and give the atmas as rewards for fighting each corresponding creature.
Atmas were meant to be a challenge.
I've only recently gotten my atma sword and shield, and I've been trying since they were implemented. I was stuck at 5/12 for a long while and I just felt like giving up till I realized something:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XETHrqtFWr...ouDontTake.png
And how true that is. You want to just give up on everything? That's your loss. I hate to see this game losing subscribers, but in the end it's your choice to stay or not. I never thought I'd complete my first set but I did. And it's all because I didn't give up. I only get maybe 4 hours of game time a day but in that time I'm not solely farming for atmas; I'm helping out lower level FC members, doing roulettes to max sol tomes, etc.
Someone in my FC had a 3,3% droprate and I have no idea what my own droprate was at. The problem people have is that atmas are extremly random, at least on the myth farming/books you can see a steady progress
another thread to +1 the 1000000000000000000000000000000000 existing ones
YOU GOT LUCKY PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
ppl would just rather complain in forums about atma being to hard then put a real effort into farming them
i ran into a bravura WAR yesterday in my trial roulette that had never tanked garuda hm >.>
why i like the new quests cause u cant have ppl carry you through it
i have pld animus sword/board and a bravura atma im working on
nothing wrong with the quest imo
If drop rates were as plentiful as ATMA complaint threads, we'd all have them. Please, this has been done to death. Grind or move on, it's a choice, not even necessary for end game, it's basically just epeen glamour and a promise of better upgrades later, but later, eel have better dungeon drops. So again, pointless.
Yes, I got lucky but guess what?
I didn't STOP. You stop and that's GUARANTEED zero atmas. Just like going into EX primals and giving up after 1 wipe. You gain NOTHING by doing that.
As another poster said, literally impossible to have Bravura and NOT have tanked Garuda HM. Unless he never really tanked and went "DPS mode" on everything.
Mostly. I'm currently close to being done with one book with no real end in sight as I "have" to start working on another atma set (Fish dropped relatively earlier than I expected it to).
I dont believe its pointless to let square enix know we are unhappy with this feature. The second half of this quest is extreme enough without the randomness of bad drop rates. There is no skill involved in procuring atmas just time wasted. i work and go to school i dont have time to waste on a chance of a drop. i want to enjoy the content without being walled off from it by probability. The lucky ones who have gotten the drops have been trolling the forums and it makes it difficult to get any response from the actual creators of the game. To the creators of the game i say do something to make the people paying for your game happy. Im uninterested in the responses of elitists to come after this. Im in this forum to make my opinion heard to the creators of the game.
No its not, Garuda HM can be done with 1 tank and 1 healer + 5 DPS and the WAR the poster mentioned sitting on his hands doiing nothing. There you go, a tank getting Garuda kill without tanking :)
To the OP:
Don't like the quest, don't do it. Kill Leviathon and get a ilvl95 weapon from there. Which for some is better than the animus. Or work on getting to turn 8 in coil 2. Theres 4 ways to get an upgraded weapon, Animus, Leviathon, and two in coil 2. Oh and turn 5 ilvl 95 weapon.
And in between while you are running around the world for things like dailies, treasure maps, harvesting if you craft/gather. Do the occasional fate as you come across them. Instead of burning out farming them for hours. Have some patience, you don't need Animus weapon now, this very minute.
My drop rate for the atma was 2%.
It's funny how the weapons better than the relics are "easier" to get. Isn't that wrong somehow?
You're wrong.
OP: I calculated my atma drop rate to be 2.5%. I have my animus weapon now. If it's too much, don't do it. You don't need it for progression and T5/Leviathan are viable options for end-game. One thing is for sure... you won't get an atma drop from posting on the forums.
This. Thank you. People just want to give up because something isn't handed to them immediately. Sometimes in life, you have to work toward something. OP, you think grinding for atmas is tough? Try being a missionary telling a child starving to death that things are going to be okay when you know for a fact they won't. So much harder than that. Even so, there are people who still do that because they have faith that something good will come of it, regardless of the actual outcome.
Yoshi had selected a handful of players to be forever atma less lol he secretly implemented them in our characters after we downloaded 2.2
So he'll be able to keep his word on only a handful will have it complete till 2.3 or something lol.
But i'm like 90% sure drop rates will increase on 2.3 as it will become old stuff just like how zenith was to 2.2.
So all hope is not lost!!!
Cuz honestly if you know ur going to only feel despair after hunting atma then u might as well wait cuz you'll be crazy after all the gambling that is atma.
( ̄+ー ̄)
maybe people are complaining and play the game at the same time. Multitasking!
I got my second atma last night. Did one fate in North Shroud and got the garbage archer atma. How garbage is that? No skill unless you call applying your level sync a skill. Some probally do, not doubting that by any means. Got it on my bard which makes it more janky. A WoW player can play bard. 29 days left ;;
Seriously this suggestion is not helpful as Animus will keep upgrading in the future while others weapons will be outdated.
Eventually every players have to do this quest so regardless the reward, I think everyone should do it.
And it seems YoishiP has agreed with it otherwise he would not delay next upgrade.
I agree, please nerf it to oblivion and into my inventory >:O
Seriously i welcome handouts if it means that i don't have to deal with atma rng anymore.
Just pleassssse don't make it another fate rng thing for the next upgrade lol.
Decided to try my luck again.
Spent my evening ( past 12am )
And went down the list.
Got 6 atmas in 4-5 hours and still ready to get the others in 1 sitting lol.
Seriously with this much drops it feels so trashy to see other ppl get no drops yet.
Probably cuz yoshi saw my post above and decided to boost my atma drops for a day.
As Yoshi said, its entirely RNG dependent.
Here's my story.
Took me about a week, maybe 2-3 hours each day, to get my first 5 atma. Dont remember this part that well, because I could not play for the next 2 weeks due to finals.
Got back into it and back to farming atma. Lets see what readily comes to mind...
Upper La Nosc, 7.5 hours straight.
Southern Thanalan, 2 days... probably 12 hours or more.
Central Thanalan... 1 fate... beat 1 fate and got the drop >.>
Eastern Thanalan, 10-20 fates.
Western La Nosc... I think its Western, the Aleport area... 7 hours again for the last one.
So, yeah... its entirely RNG dependent. For what its worth, during the 2 days of farming for Atma of the Scorpion, I did try the "JP" method of following the server time clock for a few hours... nada.
Personally, though getting 2 of my atma after 1 and 10-20 fates is nice, it is overwhelming counterbalanced by my spending nearly 3 days worth of time to get 3 other atma.
If it is possible, I would rather get rid of the rng component and simplify the system in the following manner:
Jalzahn brings some of his equipment with him, and gives you a set of 30-40-50 vials, devs pick one... These vials will draw out and collect the essence of slain enemies from fates. Beat a fate, fill a vial, and each vial WILL be indexed with the appropriate zone name, so you need to do all 12 zones.
Once all of the vials are filled, you can bring them back to Jalzahn, who will mix them into a semi-stable crystallizing structure... but it is incomplete. You must now RETURN to the area where you filled the vials, and complete one more fate in the area to enable the semi-stable crystallizing structure to uh... fully crystallize... and become to atma for the zone.
Of course, feel free to keep the drop rate of the atma themselves where it is. This way someone "could" get lucky and get their atma quickly, while someone who doesnt get lucky can do 51 fates, and get it.
51*12, 612 fates is still quite a grind... but it will be a grind with a sense of progression, not simply praying to the unforgiving RNG gods.
Personally, I've given up hope on a fix on non-sense. I'm 6/12 in and I've tried to do more fates. After 30 mins of grinding, I loose hope and resign.
I used to log in 3-4 hrs a day and enjoy every second of it. Even waiting for a titan Ex wipe fest party through pf is more enjoyable than ATMA grind. At least I know if I beat the encounter, I am getting closer to that i90 ex primal weapon and a good 1/8 chance at one of the earrings. Now I log in for ~30 mins, do my daily expert roulette, and log out to play D3 ROS. The reason is because the aforementioned ATMA grind is depressing, Levi Ex has near 0 chance of even seeing, let alone getting a mirror, and T9 is so far out of reach for a causal like me. I foresee this diminishing time investment to continue for me.
There are many options out there, perhaps your time is better spent elsewhere. Personally, I find the RNG from D3 to be quite enjoyable. You may get BIS with ultra bad stats. Its garbage, but at least you're progressing a little bit.
I honestly wouldn't mind if the myth farm wasn't needed as well. All this time to get the drops for an ilvl 100 weapon that isn't any better
. -.
What I don't understand is all the people trying to counter with "well the animus will get upgraded..." and so? There will be new coil and primal weapons too, for those who don't want to do the time sink weapon.
Also lol at this being ffxi-2. No, this isn't ffxi, one little piece of content that is a legit time sink, and only one part is rng based, does not make this ffxi-2. Go play ffxi and take an almost literal year to get a mythic weapon.
How is at all fair that some have to spend 100s of more hours then others at farming a very boring fate grind? You cannot come in here saying i got mine so your just too lazy to grind yours, doesn't work that way. And not everyone has endless hours to grind fates let alone the myths required to marginally upgrade weapons. Just because some can play ALOT more means they deserve to get weapon upgrade?
Most people i know are not even bothering with the silly grind. They are just waiting till it gets nerfed. What great game design where most don't touch it cause of its stupidity. Didn't know game designers were striving for long boring grinds in game.
I did the grind and I'm not doing it again for another class cause it's beyond stupid boring. Hell i have more time then most and still skipped upgrading shield for my paladin. 3k less myths to get in dungeons I've already done too many freakin times. I have played games with longer grinds then this one. This grind is an awful bore.
It's "fair" because there is no actual need to do it. IF these weapons were the best, absolute best weapons in the game, then maybe that point would carry more weight.
Well you will need them soon for future content or be prepared to get kicked by groups who will feel you're dead weight for being undergeared.
I was using my Relic (without it even being Zenith) for a long time and NEVER once got kicked for it. If you're doing high level content you'll group up prior to queing, so they'll let you know "Hey you ABSOLUTELY need this Atma/Animus weapon"
It's definitely not required to get. I can play the game happily without an Atma weapon. I'm assuming after a while they'll make it easier, and than have it really extremely tough to level the relic again. You can get other items to compensate for not getting this.
For those of you quitting BECAUSE of the Atma Drops, *GOOD RIDDANCE*! We don't need whiners hogging up the game.
And being hostile is the way to reply?
My reply is this..maybe give a stacking debuff that increases by say 1% per fate..Until say a 15% drop rate total..It would take ages to still get it and be random but yeah...Would solve alot of problems.
agreed ive been fate grinding like hell since this atma bs started and i only have 2 getting a little tired of it and honestly about done with the game. i mean come on some people get all 12 in a week while others go crazy fate grinding for nothing for weeks on end. to quote spock "this is highly illogical."
I realized I haven't bitched in about a month. :) So here goes.
Atmas. That mechanic everyone loves to hate. Proof that FFXIV is becoming FFXI-2 (but not really... right?). The one mechanic that made burned-out players up and leave.
Do I want it gone?
http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2..._Bryan_YES.gif
Why's that?
Let's look back at the actual relic quests, shall we? The initial ones. Now, open your journal...
The steps in a nutshell are right here.
Yay, Zenith in 13 steps! And a fine weapon, besides, sometimes surpassing Titan's drop!
What? Atma?
14-25) Grind in Fates endlessly and pray you get a stone.
Shit went from 14 easy-to-follow (if still challenging) steps to... 25 mind-numbing steps. And for what? A fresh coat of paint, and no increase in stats.
At this point, burned-out players will simply stop playing. Unacceptable.
And with the help of my FC I got my WAR relic in a few hours. Cool, so what? You're mad that you can't just have a new endgame weapon with virtually no work? Because that's exactly how much work the first part of relic takes, unless you don't have people and are using a bad pc/ps3 to take on titan. Now, maybe the plan is to make relic weapons the best weapons at some point, but I still contend that there will always be good weapons through some tome thing, or instance stuff etc.
And I sort of like the first part of the atma quest being something you can't track real progess on other than how many atma's you've obtained, because when you can calculate exactly how long it will take to grind something, then it becomes routine and for me that's extremely boring just grinding, or doing bray sr's.
The division is also something I take issue with.
When it was just the relics, there were people who paid their wins. It was fine; getting the money to pay for them is no small feat either. And there was this sense of "it can't be helped". If they have no skills, it'd show during a run anyway.
Now, atmas come around, and what little remained of respect goes out the window. Those who get atmas feel entitled to their win, so they believe they have every right to go and tell people to "git gud scrub". This is highly toxic to a game that is meant to be accessible to people of any schedule.
So now we have burned-out players and atma grinders who think they are better than the people who decided that atmas are worthless. You will have people who want to keep their Elite Badge and people who look at it and only see a waste of time. Those atma grinders want to keep their validation, and a group of people who tie their sense of self-worth to abysmal RNG is a recipe for disaster.
I wouldn't be surprised if some complaining are those who paid merc groups to get their relic in the first place. Now they have to put some time into acquiring it and not just throwing gil at others to do it for them, they don't like it XD
Some is not all before any jump to that conclusion.
Personally, I came to the conclusion that getting my soldiery stuff is a far greater guarantee, and a more efficient method of raising my stats, than the atmas. Soldiery is just better than atmas in every single aspect.
From the reactions on the forums, it's clear that not all feel the same. Though I very much doubt that their argument has any ground other than bragging rights.
