Aesthetician/Fantasia for Retainers

Will there be an option to take our retainers to the aesthetician? Or use a fantasia (or equivalent) on them to change their race/gender completely?

I made my retainers before we were given the option of sending them off on ventures and changing their gear, so I didn't put much thought into their appearance beyond "which race doesn't look silly in the default retainer outfit." And now that I've started leveling them, I don't want to sacrifice the progress they've made just for vanity.

But I'm sure there are other players who would also like to update their retainers' appearance now and then, so I'm hoping that, at the very least, we can bring them to the aesthetician. What does everyone else think?

I updated mine by taking everything out of their inventories, getting rid of them, and hiring new retainers.

A harsh solution, but it worked for my purposes.

While I can’t promise a specific time period for implementation as of yet, the development team is looking into making it possible to change your retainer’s appearance in the future. Essentially, you can imagine that it would be like using a phial of fantasia on your retainer and you’d be able to change their race, gender, and other character creation options. We’ll also be looking into making it possible to choose the newly added hairstyles that were introduced with the aesthetician.

A welcome change :) any news on Name Change shipping with Fantasia? Or 'spray tan/skin color' for Aesthetician?

I hope the fantasia for retainers at least can be bought with in-game currency.

Hopefully something reasonable like 5,000. Enough to make you think about it, but not enough that you'll not be able to do it more than once. Kind've like the Aesthetician.

You must not have a lot of gil... :rolleyes: It needs to be much more than that, or people will be changing their character on a daily basis.

50,000 gil. Best would be 250k gil so only those people use it who really really want it.
You can earn 5k gil in just 1 hour doing duty roulette

but I doubt SE would sell it for gil. It would cheapen the first month vet reward.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about the ability to change the appearance of your retainers.

Maybe a special venture quest that cost max about of Company Seals that be gotten right now but translated into Venture Tokens, something thats retainer related I think.

What is the harm if people want to change the look of their retainers daily? O.o No one but the user sees them, it's just something to keep the player happy.



Also, fingers crossed we can change the personalities. One of my retainers is quite the snarky arse. lol. D:

I was just thinking the other day I wanted to change my retainers >-< I'm glad to see they are working on a idea to make it happen. Guess I will keep sending them off to venture and level til the system to change them comes into play. I hope it doesn't cost real money. As much as I am about supporting the game as someone pointed out the retainers are only seen by the players. >w<

It would be nice if there were also an option to change the retainer's personality. One of my retainers is usually polite, but whenever I summon her while she's on a venture, she suddenly has major attitude -- enough to make me avoid using her until she's free. I know it's silly, but I swapped around my retainers' inventories just so I could interact with this one less...surely if Fantasia has the power to make someone "a new man" physically, it can also make them less of a grouch!

Will this be before or after players can change their names?

Cool. What about name changes for Fantasia Users?

Not cool I can sex-change but would be stuck with a male-dominant name.

remake your character, pick a gender neutral name.

What about birthday/gaurdian will we ever be able to change those with fantasia?

You can change those. I was able to change the guardian when I used mine.

I'm late to the party, but it's been 3 months since you posted.

Any hints as to when this feature will be added? I know it's all about keeping things a secret... but any hints at all? Like before the end of this year maybe? <3
