Atma Suggestion - Yes another atma thread...

Full discloser, I don't have an issue with the Atma drop rates or the fates to get them. However, I do understand where people are coming from when trying to get these drops. We talked about this on the Aetheryte Radio Podcast http://gamerescape.com/2014/04/19/ae...-the-rngstrom/

So I'm interested in the community’s opinion and a thought regarding Atma.

What if Atma was trade-able and sell-able on the markets? I don't mind the drop rate, and I've said before I haven't been upset by the quest, but it does seem to lack other ways to obtain the needed Atma. Where I could see this become particularity frustrating would be when you were on the last 2 or (10, whatever) and give you the option to buy it from the markets. This would create a new market, and allow players who want to make money put them up for sale, as well as players who then would have the option to pick them up. Giving them the ability to buy the one they needed, or farm if they didn't want to spend the money.

The other option would be to allow Atma to drop off of fates without having to have a +1 equipped thus giving players as they play the game and level the opportunity to have a few of these items already. Perhaps the +1 would increase the drop rate, vs those who don't have one. (Just a thought)

While there could be an argument made that gil sellers could take advantage of this system, to that I would say. It's possible but they also have just as much of an opportunity as the rest of us, and that could also be applied to any drop that sells for any amount of profit.

Anyway, just some thoughts, what are yours?

To make them sell-/buyable you would need to change a couple things.

Such as increasing the amount of how many you actually need to upgrade your weapon. Make them unique, so people only can have 12 in total and not 3124234. I would also lower the actual Droprate even more, yes.. you've read that correct. The thing is, some people would never bother to farm it and straight buy it. If i look at the market i often see "retarded" ways of selling and undercutting by 50%+. People who would farm them and sell them, should get a decent amount of gil and not forced to drop the price over and over and over again to have a chance of selling. Some would say you can wait until most sold and it reaches the original price, but this can take a couple weeks+, depending of the item. So i am not sure if it would really work out in the end, if this would be implemented for an actual "important" part of gear-progression.

There was something i was thinking about for a while, which SE could implement into the Golden Saucer.

Let's call it "Gamble NPC".

- First you need to complete a couple Quests for it of course. ;)

- You trade an Item of your choosing, or any amount of Gil to this NPC. He then starts a "Gambling Game", whatever it may be is up to SE or what the people want.
- After winning this Minigame, depending on what you gave to the NPC, he will reward you with a Price.
- This Price can be Gear, Gil, Items etc.

- You now could add a "Fame System" to the Regions and depending on your Fame, you would raise the possibility to obtain the Atma's out of said Regions.

- You also could add another NPC, lets call it "Trader NPC", which would allow to trade in Duplicate's .
- Atma's also could be added to High-Level Ventures.

- SE also could add a NPC, where you could sell your Atma's to the NPC. And the NPC Bazaar will actually sell those Items in Stock, as long as people sell it to the NPC. If noone did, the item is not available. This way the NPC basically has the control over the Price and it won't get more expensive or more cheap. As an example;

- Person A sells to NPC for 10.000 Gil
- Person B buys from NPC for 50.000 Gil

This does create not only a Gilsink for those buying the Atma, but also a way to generate Gil into the Economy. RMT's could make use of this, like they can of the actual Market. So there is no real point for, or against it. But you could add a Limit of how many Atma's the NPC takes from you on a daily basis.

So yea, there are different ways, optional ways SE could implement but straight buy and sell... idk.

I love the idea to be able to sell them! That's perfect. People who don't mind doing them, can farm them. And people that can't stand it, can just buy them.

This idea was already proposed, and some said yes, others said no. I say no, farm it like everyone else.

People asks hundreds of thousands gils for a Titan Hard kill. How much do you think they will charge for ONE Atma ? :p

On that note, is the more people do farm, the lower the price would be. Supply and Demand. There were also other good ideas listed above. Thanks. :)

With the drop rates right now Atma's would be in the millions. The casual player who is alrdy having trouble farming the stones themselves, would even have a harder time farming the money to buy them, thus encouraging RMT even more.

So no, I dont think it would be a good idea to make them able to be sold on the Market Board.

I do however like the Npc Vendor Idea.

Ya, the NPC vender would control the prices, but at the same time, the casual player might find it more in their interest to get one or a few, and put them up for sale. Millions would depended on the supply and demand at the time. I could see if Atma was only for this quest, not going that route, but if ever it came up that you needed it for something else. Just saying. :)

It'll promote people to buy gil to purchase the atma. I would give a major 'nay' to this idea.

I don't like the idea of just str8 out buying your weapon, because like FATE grinding to get it, buying it requires ZERO skill...

instead, for people who have the time to grind, can grind.. but for people that don't have the time ( or luck to get the drops ) should be able to get theirs in some other way... for example I'd much prefer killing EX primals:

the first atma can be FATE grind to open the quest, then it's:
Titan, Ifrit, Garuda story EM (3)
Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, Levi HM (4)
Garuda, Titan, Ifrit, Levi EX (4)

and you can't die, NOT EVEN ONCE.. for if you do you'll have to do it all over again....and it doesn't have to be in that order either, you can pick and choose which you'd like to knock out first and the game will keep track like it does in "primal focus"

some of you might say "isn't this another kind of grind" ... and indeed that might be true, but wouldn't you prefer this over FATEs?

I'm against this because it will just encourage players to buy gil. I actually support the dev's decision to make it so gil cannot buy significant upgrades to your gear.

I'm willing to bet that the people that would buy them are the same crowd that complained the main argument against the current atma was the method of acquisition being too simple (i.e. FATEs). And I will <3 them even more for it. Trust in my peers words would drop even further! (which would otherwise be thought as impossible)

I think a less risky option would be for someone wishing to sell an atma having to buy an in-game permit of some sort. That way friends could trade them with friends, and poachers wouldn't have as large an incentive to monopolize or engage in contract-breeching commerce.

I personally wish the grind was just entirely different, so that the prospect of buying them didn't come to the table at all. The fact that they have a quest that they need to strictly control in order to prevent criminal activity is a sign that the system is flawed in the first place.

Couldn't really see this working. Decreasing the drop rate that some people are already having bad luck with which will only punish those who want to put in the time and effort for their weapons...no thanks. Not to mention it will have a second impact of the people selling them charging ridiculous prices.

Sure you say its a great idea now.
Then SE ups how many you need to lets say 12 atma of scorp and 12 atma of the ram lets say they do that.
People would sell them for 1million a pop because they are hard to get and then you will complain about prices being really high that you can't get your atma weapon now and you want them to change it back.

Hello I want to find out how long is alright to farm for 1 atma weapon!
I have used my Zenith Spaira since first day of Zodiarc quest came on game.
And I have spent 168 days just to farm 12 atma stones.
I have used many different strategies and as we'll japanese strategy.
I have worked out that every week I have spent 20+ hours on atma farming and I had 3 Holliday weeks when I spent on each 150+ hours on farming atma. In result it works out that I have spent approximately 850 hours just on atma farming.
I want to know what will happen if I want to aquiere second atma weapon?
Because that time and work what I have put in atma weapon is far Mach more than I have ever heard from anyone.

Ugh I wouldn't want useless Gil for my atma drops if we could sell them. Give me red tomes or allied seals.

Just to cut the RNGesus' wrath, having a labor point system (like some games) would be awesome for those who are at the mercy of thy RNGesus.

Like 5 labor points a day, and 1 atma is 100 labor points. So 12 atmas would be 1200 labor points, 240 days to get all twelve --(this is if you are a total lazy ass and don't want to work for it.)-- This system should be used alongside farming, while still at the mercy of rng, it would give some leeway if you are really stuck. E.g. farming fates for 2+ months and stuck at 11/12 atma, can buy it with labor points.

This just gives a 'light' at the end of the tunnel, however long that is. But again, this should be used alongside farming.

I'd prefer it if they just added a way to get them. Give atma as a potential reward at the end of current endgame content.

HM Ifrit, Levi, Mog, Garuda, Titan - 35% drop chance
CT and ST - 50% drop
T1-5 - 60% drop
