FOR DEVS!! Please also change Bard's Limit Break!!

So I read SMNs will have a different Limit Break and the changing of Bard's limit break was mentioned in another thread, but let's try and get answers and put these things in its own thread.

So Since SMN is getting something different, I agree that BRD should not have to use healing abilities when they Limit Break. I mean they don't have a single healing ability not even a regen song so why?? lol
Now I realize this has probably been asked before and a long time ago and the Limit Breaks have been around since launch. However, now that there will be some changes to make SMN a little different from BLM Limit Break, then that isn't fair to keep BRD the same... :/

Anyways I hope a Dev responds! :)

Edit: yes I know its just appearance, but ya a lot of them don't look appropriate for all the jobs lol. example: MNK, DRG, BRD

I'm pretty sure it was a rumor. And even if it was true, they are only changing the animation, not the type of limit break. Making it more job realistic as opposed to a monk magically knowing how to use a 2h sword that came out of nowhere.

You are asking to change the outcome of the Limit Break which is a totally different topic.

What I heard was the limit break "appearance" be changed. The effect stays the same.

Yeah, they -are- changing all the LBs so each class has a unique looking one that makes sense for their class. However, they will be completely the same functionality wise.

So, instead of using the BLM's Meteor attack, SMNs might instead briefly summon a full primal that does their signature attack. Same damage and same size AoE as the current AoE LB, just now it is definitely a SMN limit break. I imagine a DRG will involve spears, and MNKs involve fists, but still does what their current LBs do.

So, yeah. BRDs will still heal. But hey, maybe they'll change it with the upcoming Gun Job since there'll be two ranged physical DPS?

I like the Bard LB, honestly. It's one of those things where nine times outta ten you'd like to really be able to do some damage with it (like when ya get a Roulette with two bards), but that one time where the healers are desperately tryin' to keep everyone alive, but they still need the Healer limit...That's when the Bard steps up. And ain't situations like that what LIMIT BREAKS are supposed to be about? Even Meteor starts to feel so "meh" when it's expected.

Oh tell me about it haha I have saved a team through like Ifrit HM with BRD mass raise and cure xD.
Thanks to that LB we beat it for people :).

It's a decent reason not to stack bards,at least.

If BRD gets dps limit break, every other melee can say goodbye to many stuff.

Doesn't have to be a damage dealing limit break. They could play some song that adds interesting types off buffs to the party for a duration.

My feelings exactly and.. We might get a healing song, remember our bard story quest? The bard guy used a healing song if I remember correctly.

A bard's limitbreak was the crucial factor in my first garuda-ex win.

When the healers go down it saves the fight.

No. Keep Bard as a Heal LB. Learn how to use it, I've saved us from many wipes before using it.

That argument is flawed. Bards were originally buffers with also a regen song. It's only natural to have a healing LB.
Also, if you ever played bard, you'd know that they do have a regen song. We players just can't have it yet. Maybe with the level cap raise which will give levi and ramuh-egis to smn =)

I'd like to suggest changing Bladedance to Dolphin Blow for PGLs/MNKs, if for nothing more than to see a giant dolphin come out of nowhere.

This would be cool, but it would never get used because as soon as a BRD used it he/she would get flamed.

Give ARCHER dps limit break.
Give Bard support limit break.

I still think it's utterly stupid to class Archer/Bard as a DPS on the one hand and then give them a healer LB with the other. It's paradoxical and nonsensical. If Bard were in some limbo 'support' category I might agree with them having a support LB, but as it stands their whole purpose is damage.

It's not even as though the LB makes sense even from a SUPPORT standpoint. It's not support, it's blatant healing. If it were some kind of party-wide damage buff or a defense debuff on the mob, it might at least make more sense in terms of support for a DPS class. Personally, I'm convinced they just didn't want to give Archers a unique LB. It would make no sense for them to use magic or melee skills, after all... so naturally heals. Even though that makes just as little sense as the rest.

I'll take it that you never played FFT. No wonder then why you can't see a bard healing. Also, Bard's storyline shows a healing song.

Um... no. Bard's role is to provide support. That's why it gets to sing Songs that enhances the party. The official description of the Job also demonstrates its purpose (straight from the official website: http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/game/#!/jobs - emphasis mine ):

It can also provide support DPS (regardless of whether it sings or not). With Bard being shown to be the lowest of the DPS (especially without the Dragoon's Disembowel buff), this further puts it into supporting DPS rather than pure DPS. Otherwise, their damage would be more in line with true DPS. Archer, on the other hand, is a DPS class. It offers no real support to the party, and focusses mostly on dealing damage.

It doesn't make sense that Archer has the healer LB, but for Bard it is perfectly sensible. If the animation was to be more reflective of the situation, you would probably see the Bard sing out a last song of encouragement that boosts the morale of the party and gets them back on their feet to charge back at the enemy.

Totally this. But for what it's worth, I actually like the BRD LB. BRDs have the potential to save a run in the event that the healers are dead, or they just can't LB for whatever reason. It's nice to have variety.

If BRD limit break is good for your group, then your group is not good.

And that's all there is to it. Current BRD limit break is bad. If you think it's good, then you are worse.

Yeah because another ranged class having a dps limit break would totally make people not bring melee. That's the reason I'm sure. Just like BLM and SMN means nobody brings melee now right?

Yes, because everyone plays this game on your superior level. If you can't understand how/why it may be good to have a back-up healer LB for the greater player base, then you need to get your head out of your ass.

It's more usefull than having just another damage LB. MNK, DRG, SMN, BLM, 4 damage LBs 2xsingle target, 2xAE. SCH. WHM, BRD, heal LBs, PLD, WAR, Defence LB. Why would you need a 5th damage LB? I'd rather have a situational LB that can save the party, then "just another pewpew LB that any of the 4 main DPS classes can do already. Not to mention, better it locks the BRD in the LB animation than the main healer.

You don't magically start a fight having it on farm status, neither does killing it once. Things happen. It's an "Oh sh*t" button thats there if needed.

Since usually the bard is the last man standing in a fight it makes sense to use that limit break but it should be done without weakness. The result is always the same and people die almost instantly.

New animation for Bards will be the same across all three tiers.

You do an extreme version of the Manderville, everyone feels better, the end.

Though if they changed it, it would be nice if it did more support related things other than just heal/raise everyone.

Perhaps keep tier 1, change tier 2 to a determination up buff, tier 3 can be a haste buff (increased move speed, attack speed, etc). Though to compensate they would need to increase the damage of tier 1-3 LB of melee and possibly magic DPS... otherwise the determination buff would probably be a better choice than a one time chunk of damage :/

Hard to say... Probably why they put so much time and effort into planning things and making sure stuff doesn't full on suck.

Healing limit break is now useless. The occurances where it can successfully save a group is if:
1. You have lb3 (lol)
2. Healers/majority of your party is dead.
3. Boss doesn't enrage/ have a huge aoe incoming that would in turn obliterate the healing lb user.

People also forget everyone raised has 0 mp and tp, which makes it all the more useless when paired with weakness.

It's just very situational.

TBH. I can't comment on Coil 2, But theres nothing outside of it at least that is dependent on having any kind of Limit Break. Everything can be done without using any form of LB. So to all intents and purposes, LB is a bonus not a requirement to assist only. Nothing that can't be done without a LB, irregardless of it being damage, heal of defence.

Not trying to be a DB, but this point is usable against any LB

using tank LB ? => you're too bad to heal through damage/slow damage coming (thinking about ultima HM or some coil "oh shit" moments when you need that huge damage reduction. I remember finishing a T5 that way ^^)
using mage LB ? => your dps is so lame you can't kill multiple adds in time (thinking of Levi ex for example, or T5' snakes. mage LB is all but necessary, yet useful and gladly used)
using melee LB ? => your dps is just so awful that you need this huge extra damage output (ifrit Ex, or rather pretty every fight where DDs launch the LB whenever possible)


No LB is needed. "If they are good for you, then your group is not good" heh ? LB is what it is, a massive help at some times you want to have it. Be it heler, tank or dps, they all have a use at some time, but you can perfectly beat all the content without LBing even once. It's just harder.


try to take that post lightly. I'm not telling that you are utterly bad as a player/group if you use a LB. Just that saying "healing LB is for Bad player" doesn't have any sense

I remember Yoshi-P saying that the use of limit break was taken into accout when designing end game content.
