What are these "Server" problems they keep going on about?

So there a a lot of features that people are requestion, that can't be done untill AFTER they have sorted these "server problems."

Which im fine with, I don't want features that are annoying.

But what exactly is the problem with them?

Are they not powerful enough...

Are the server requests coded bad...

Or is it that the servers are just not coded to grab
that much info, therefore even basic stuff needs to
be worked from the ground up?

Most likely its an issue with database access times. As that appears to be what causes the biggest slowdown for the UI currently. Every time you open a new window it has to access a remote database. When you have a lot of players using the same database it slows down even more. A lot of what will fix this is simply moving more and more of the data from the database and into the local client, but some data shouldn't be shared with the local client that way because of hackers and other issues.

Poor infrastructure.

Meaning, too much overhead in communication between servers, too much server load, poor server networking software, etc.

The servers do not run the game well pretty much. Since beta ther have been massive disconnecting. Errors, now this rollback issue in some zones. It is like they fix an issue they get a new one. Then gonna take into account how buggy beta was, where several weeks of beta was infact canceled as they tried to fix the problem.

A server-side UI is bad enough to be called a 'server problem'.

All of us 5 people logging on at the same time is the problem the servers just weren't designed for this much massive population in a mMO.

Any ideas about when the fixes will start? We need a smooth gameplay for harder and dynamic content ...

Some issues that annoy me:

- Enemy health drops long before I see animation of me hitting him
- If my hit kills the enemy, I don't even get to see the animation. My guy just stands there while the enemy falls over. Talk about anti-climatic.

This don't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be obnoxious. S/R is fine.

Probably recycled XI servers that they shut down lol...

In all seriousness though, getting some sort of response that isn't shrouded in smoke about why the server hardware/software is/was so poor for FFXIV would be nice to hear.

Possibly even a response to why the UI is server side, causing huge lag between actions and not client side, or even why the patcher still hasn't been a fixed issue, and when we can expect LS functionality...iunno, battle update is soon over so some of these must be getting close to the top of the list, no?
