Thaumaturge Getting Hosed on raise ?

As Thaumaturge, we are the scholars seeking the understanding of death, and walk the fine line between life and death with our magics. Are we losing this understanding to Conjurer with the raise/resserection/rebirth changes?

Is it just me, or does it appear we are getting the short end of the stick? Is the only change in this area that THM raise goes from 1 min recast to 5? While the CON gets 3 or so variation?

Its fair enough. CON is the base for all color mages...it is expected from them to master both healing and elemental damage roles.

For THM, instead, i'd expect more "dark magic", "divine magic" and "enfeebling magic" (sorry for using FFXI terms) and for CON "elemental magic", "healing magic" and "enhancing magic". So i'd rather see THM becoming Sage, Scholar or even Dark Knight instead of a color mage.

It seems as if thu gets the short end of the stick, but SE might announce new thu spells still. I know it's a pipe dream but re-resurrect

I agree. I think dark magic and enfeebling magic would better fit the THM play style. I think we will have some pretty cool spells to look forward to down the road.

Soul Ward its in the dats, but not implemented yet

Just because some stuff got announced for one class, doesn't mean there's nothing coming for other classes.

Wait until the patch notes for 1.18 come out before complaining what 1.18 does and doesn't have.

Speaking from a purely logistical standpoint - and based on lots of experience in FFXI - I'm glad that THM didn't get the additional Raise spells. Let the CONs get stuck being the Raise-bots, I can go get a sammich while they clean up the wipes...

THM is the current king of the game, so I would hardly call this the short end. Though lore-wise...meh.

There is always the possibility that a THM job will get better resurrection capabilities, which would explain why it's missing out now.

I can roll with this. The entire combat balance is getting mixed up, after all.

It sounds to me like some THMs have an overinflated sense of entitlement as a result of their class being overpowered for the past several months. All of a sudden you're going to have to share the stage with CONs, since they won't be entirely useless anymore. I guess if you're in a group that structured itself around the class imbalances I can see why you'd be alarmed by this. CON needed something to justify its place in a party, and now it has it. I guess you'll have to settle for your debuffs, DoTs, nukes, cure+regen, siphons, buffing via absorbs, and broken emulate tanking. Shucks.

I am under the impression "emulate" is the only ability you mentioned that sets THMs apart. You quote me to make your unintelligent sarcasm at, yet my sig clearly shows me at a level previous to aquiring that ability.

So how does your list make THMS special, debuffs? Burn, choke, drown, frost, rasp, shock all debuff.

DoTs, wait, you have 2 in one spells, Burn, choke, drown, frost, rasp, and shock that do that too.

Nukes.....seriously? You wanna compare those ? Siphons have minimul, limited uses.

Buffing through absorbs, which have a high miss ratio, compared to stoneskinn/protect/shell, which never ever miss, and hit the entire group.......

That just leaves emulate as the only thing that shows us any great favor over CON, who themselves get one of the most usefull spells as well, "sleep". Shoke spike stuns, our damage shield does not. Chainspell has infinite uses, as does roaming soul. All the debuff removal spells, such as paralyna, piosona, silena.

Purge is an increadibly powerfull debuff when used right. And cure, which unlike THMs sacrafice, doesn't have restriction, like HP.

Sacrifice:

- Has immensely wider AOE range than CON
- Always hits yourself so the HP cost is meaningless unless you're taking damage, which you shouldn't be anyway in a party (CONs have to stand on top of people for their cure to hit themselves)
- Adds a >100HP/tick regen that adds up to over 1000 more HP over time (while inexplicably costing slightly LESS MP than Cure)

So now that we established that 90%of your arguement was garbage, its down to the nuts and bolt, and its sacrafice and emulate that make THM unworthy of being able to have expanded resserction even though they are the scholars of the lines between life and death?

Childish........well childish is going on thinking that emulate won't be getting the nerf bat soon.

AoE range has no value in the arguement, take that up with the devs, they designated the AoEs and there radius'.

So that just leaves, sacrafice , which you illogically feel deems THMs unworthy of raise....

And i never lied genius, I never said I was any particular level, I simply mentioned what my sig said.

We don't even know what is being nerfed in the upcoming patch yet. Maybe Conj Aoe size is changing? No idea atm.

I don't think that's entirely the case.

Two pieces of information we've received from the Devs suggest otherwise. Those being that Black Mage and White Mage were confirmed as advanced classes, and that initially there will only be one released advanced class for each current job.

With the addition of these new resurrection spells, Conjurer has likely secured it's spot as the advanced path for White Mage. That pretty much leaves Black Mage to the Thaumaturge.

I'm thinking they're going to gimp THM because they made the other classes boring and people b*tch, but make blm a bitchin dd to make up for it. It looks like boring bland classes might be the way to go and then give nice jobs. What they gave to conjurer is kinda effed unless they give everybody something that is that important. They're whole goal was to equalize classes, and if I see them give master of destruction crap to thm i'll shut up. But weakening return, raising penalty to weakened and giving conjurer the only way to really remedy that, puts xi whiners in the same place they were about "one job is better than the other and I can't stand it". I wanted some class differentiation but I'm waiting to see how they do it with all classes, showing us conj and not thm at the same time makes people think they're making one better than the other, or gimping one or something. Maybe they do have something for thm in store outside of the raise realm, even if we are masters of life and death. Maybe they'll give us doom :/
