Launcher black screen

help! I can't get the launcher to actually open and let me log in. I'm on windows 8 and when i try and open the launcher i just get a blank black launcher with no buttons or login options

I had the same problem but I left it up and running and it eventually loaded. It may be slow due to the Lodestone's maintenance. If you are getting this black screen, give it up to 5 minutes and then relaunch it.

isn't the maintenance over? the main site seems to be back live

Same problem but like Hyperia said it does load if you wait a while, at least it loaded the login button so i could enter the game.

Yeah the launcher is lagging a lot. Not sure what they did to it.

still not loading so im trying to launch it again this time as admin. Between this and no fantasia again even though its in the final stages im kind of annoyed today

EDIT: After restarting PC, it brings up launcher to login credentials, but it takes about 2mins for login input to appear. but no error at least, so my suggestion is to restart pc

Same issue here - but when I went to "close the window" (Windows 7) I get the System Error -2146697211, and an URL "frontier.ffxiv.com".....

and there goes my day off not being able to play...

Re-opened the launcher like 4-5 times, can see the Lodestone but I can't write my password to login, it's the only part of the launcher missing. haha.

Yeah, I'm having this problem as well. Contacting my ISP did nothing to fix the issue either.

I have the same message as Synra.

Exact same problem here. Tried resetting my IP both through a command prompt and by just resetting the router. Nothing works.

I was having a similar issue. My launcher also timed out once and displayed the error others have posted in this forum, but I kept trying. The launcher finally loaded enough for me to be able to log into the game.

just close the launcher and reopen it. make sure u clear internet cache.

if that doesnt work u gotta wait seeing as website is understress due to amount of ppl logging on and downloading patch. but yeah when it gives u that error all u gotta do is close the launcher and reopen it to fix it tho if website is busy u will still need to wait probs 5mins before reopening launcher so it doesnt give u error again but u can keep trying just as long as u close launcher when error comes up and reopen it.

Have the same problem. I could connect after the game update, but the launcher is bugged since the lodestone maintenance is over... my guess is the launcher can't get in touch with the lodestone to get the info, so it crash...

Oh good. So its not just me. Still bloody anoying. I only just reactivated my account today and this happens.

Same problem and same error as the others posted. Cant log in at all.

PS4 launcher us giving the same issues "Cannot connect to server within the time limit" WV-33907-2

already said how to fix it in above post it happens when that website which is listed in error is stressed due to amount of ppl downloading patch or trying to log in at same time. same thing happened last year

That didn't fix it for me. I've been opening and closing the launcher for a bit now and the same message is appearing, so it may be more than stress on the server.
Edit: Naturally, as soon as I posted that the launcher worked.

did u clear intenet cache like i said in above post?

Just trying to log in now on PS4 and get a white screen. Managed to input ID then nothing

Haha, yes. I just edited my post to say it's finally working. Thanks!

Doing the same thing on my PS4, it was a white screen for a while then gave an error message about the server. Now it's passed that but won't fully upload the login area. I got an over lapping error message in three languages but I could make out "please try again".

I'm slightly annoying since I'm on a short schedule here and this is the usual time I rotate perks for my FC. Get to fixing it please. Thank you.

Still not working Kaya. As I stated before, I've cleared my cache, reset my router, reset my IP through a command prompt, restarted my computer. Nothing works.

I have had this error in the past and the only thing to do to fix it, for me, was to wait it out. Regardless of how "easy" the fix is, it's still annoying. Guess I can start chipping away at my tv show backlog while I wait.

This games service is getting progressively more terrible over time. Same problem for me, on top of so many others.

Congestion? Really? It's almost 10 am. What kind of excuse is congestion. I'm totally not buying it. :\

Gee thanks guys it's almost 8 on a Thursday. Didn't realize there was so much congestion I couldn't play for the last two hours

Had this happen as well today. Open launcher get the errors, close and retry. Cleared cache, rebooted PC, after about 4 more errors it finally was able to pop up the login part (tho the lodestone adds/links on launcher didn't display). The download only takes like 2 minutes and then able to sign on. So it's pretty much getting lucky and keep opening launcher til it has an opening for you to load and log in to do the download. It's not just happening on the PC but PS3 and PS4 as well. So there's a lot of traffic going thru that site atm for this small patch update.

yea keep clearing cache and reopen launcher multiple times and wait for 2-5 mins and hope ur id+pass window popped RANDOMLY!
