Duty Finder story, and a shout out to two great people :)

So I queued for DR this morning and got Tam-Tara Deepcroft. All was well until the tank left (maybe dc'ed? - never returned). Anyway, the LNC, THM and I went through the rest of the instance essentially healer-tanking it (pesky healer threat), but we did great. And the two players I was with were awesome!

Just wanted to share a good DR story, they do happen. Sometimes things still go fine even after a player drops/leaves. :) Not so much because of the dungeon, TT is kinda easy, but because everyone kept a cool head and just kept going.

Who knows if they will see this but - great job Amaki Hammerfall and Swagger Mcyolo and great teamwork!

I've tanked a few low level dungeons as a Dragoon in situations where the tank has left. It's not a pile of fun, but it's better than all of us re-queuing. I'm even more willing to do it if I see that someone is new to the dungeon as I want them to have a good experience.

One time while leveling my whm we 3 man monk tanked all of cutters cry.

THAT was interesting.

I had a tank leave in Amdapor at like second trash mob and we Bard tanked the rest. We beat the second boss and then a tank showed up to help us kill Diablos. We were all flying pretty high after that run.

I was once a CNJ in a party where we had a THM and ARC with me after the tank dropped. Topaz Carby tanked us through Sastasha, and we did just fine.

It's great to see all the good DR stories. :D

Did DF and got Lost City of Amdapor: After the first boss tank left so we chatted while waiting for the new tank (they were really nice~! Both were Male Miqo'te and one was from Exodus, the other from Lamia I believe!), another tank popped in (WAR) and we said hello~! They instantly left... so the three of us decided to keep going and killing until we got another tank. The Miqo'te from Lamia (I believe) got their WAR friend to join who said they hadn't tanked in a while, but would give it a try, and we kept supporting one another, saying we could do it and we all go though!

While the run wasn't smooth, the attitudes and kindness in the party were wonderful and makes this one of the best Lost City runs I've ever done! :D

I've run a zone as a CNJ where a tank dropped and a yellow rat started tanking and did a much better job tanking than the tank who dropped had.

DF the other day for Brayflox (normal). Each one of us had a 90k error at some point in the run (thankfully not during fights). No one left or kicked or even complained. Then, we got to the boss, our DRG says 'brb, 5 minutes,' and then drops some 15 minutes later. We're just about to try to run it without a 4th when a BLM shows up, says 'lol boss' and we finish the run with no problems. Was great.

I just did something like this a couple days ago. Healer dropped before Haukke Manor even started and the finder never pulled another one. I just spammed Physick like crazy on SMN and we made it through everything but the last boss like that before we got one.

Makes me wish the game wasn't so strict about entering instances in the first place. It would be fun to try things with one less player sometimes, on purpose.

I've got a couple of stories, one of which I've told multiple times.

Once I was in Halatali as Pugilist (I think, might have been Black Mage). The healer would frequently make sudden stops but would catch up to us and heal us in the nick of time. Finally, they appear to disconnect before we get to the optional boss and the last boss. The rest of us decide to wait a few minutes to see if we get a replacement. We do, and they're happy that we're at the last boss (we opted not to do the optional boss).

Another instance was my first time in Haukke Manor (this was before there was a hard mode version). We're fighting Lady Amandine when the tank and other DD die when she had only a little bit of health left. The tank calls for a wipe, and I figure it was going to happen soon anyway. But the healer was so pro at keeping me up I was able to finish her off and completing the dungeon for us all. There was much rejoicing from everyone involved. Probably because everyone could cease clenching their butts.

Yet one more story I have to share. I was having issues with Titan normal mode. The groups I was with were quick to give up and drop group (which was my issue with Garuda as well), but the night I beat Titan I was able to get the aid from friends on one of my linkshells (before I ended up joining their Free Company): a Scholar and a Paladin (or was he a Warrior?). We also got a Black Mage who was new to the Trial. While the Black Mage had died early, I used limit break just before I dropped as well. My linkshell friends were able to finish off Titan. At the end, the Black Mage was very happy (I was happy to get through it) and had learned a few things about Titan's mechanics that they didn't know about.

I was in Hali when our tank dropped before the first pull. THM, and DRG, did the entire dungeon from beginning to end without issue. Dragoon was able to split a mob off me, THM provided a little bit of healing. Last boss was way too easy. I didn't even ask the THM to heal, my healing as a pld was enough to keep me going through the boss' soft hits. Losing one of the 'vital' roles in a dungeon doesn't always spell doom. It's just means there are likely difficult times ahead.

Me (White Mage) and a Bard and a Black Mage did the first boss in Haukke Manor Hard Mode cause our tank Dcd. We were juggling aggro, I healed like crazy, I used benediction once and our bard was kiting, and it was sucha a hard and messy fight, but it felt like a great accomplishment when we killed him!
And after that an Ilvl97 Warrior joins and grabs the entire floor of creeps and it was fun too!

Nice DF stories are great =3 A couple of mine;

Duty rouletting Copperbell while leveling my BLM -rolled in with both tank and pugilist new to the instance, healer was a vet leveling her nub class too. PGL was great at listening to instructions and was really grateful for tips. The gladiator, however, never flashed, never spoke, used MP restoring combos at full MP instead of enmity-increasing skills and didn't respond to any attempts to communicate even using the auto-translate. The rest of us decided to just ignore him and let him do his thing, so I BLM-tanked the dungeon as even the conjurer couldn't get aggro off me x3 It was actually really fun just to derp around with those two and do something different!

Run of Satasha with 3 ilvl 70+ people where we discussed tank armour that looks like kilts, Scottish people and alcohol, and used my BLM LB on trash mobs for lulz.

Brayflox NM yesterday, got into a group in progress where literally nobody that finished the dungeon had been in it to start with. Monk pulled the whole big lake zone and we ran around like idiots, but it was great fun. I did a lot of Bray and Aurum Vale with new people yesterday and almost all of them were a blast. Still no battlemage set though =P

Halatali NM, we started four of us, one tank, one healer and two arcanists, actually, even before first boss healer and tank left without a word or reason. The other arcanist said that we would never do it, I told her we could and at least we could try, we had nothing to lose, guess what, the two of us and our pets made it and finished it, well I died at the last boss, mostly because I was a bit undergeared but the other arcanist finished it.....things are possible, or at least should be tried until is no more visibly possible....nothing to lose, lots of experience, mostly lots of fun and rewarding it is a challenge, healthy one, we all know in those circumstances that we may die, we will die and so what ?...was fun. The other arcanist said she didnt know that we could do it, I told that thanks to our pets, we could concentrate on healing each other and them LOL on top of puting dots here and there....soo fun....wish there was more of those.
