I'm so excited about this! Most likely it would probably be Sydney or Melbourne, but I'm still not entirely giving up hope it will be in Perth (after all, Hideo Kojima came here to Perth for a game conference a few years ago so it's possible :)). I'm just happy SE have seen the growing community in the Oceanic area, this is awesome news, I can't wait! :D

And yes, I'm going to do anything in my power to get to this! :D

It might be Avcon too, the theme is RPG this year, they've also got along the game designer for the Fallout series so far.

Definitely echoing the call for dev confirmation on locations though! I live in Tasmania, so I definitely need time to book accommodation and flights. I ain't missing out on this!

From the letter he did say 2 days after NicoNico Chokaigi 3, and that event is on 26-27th this month, so he'll be coming to Australia end of April-early May? o3o

Everything always happens in melbourne or sydney ): I hope it would be Brisbane though. Maybe we should all compromise and just meet on the big rock in the centre- nowhere to hide.

What are you even doing on NA/EU servers? JP servers are like 150-200ms from Australia, still not great but there's less justification for whining if you chose the wrong server to play on.

Since Odin is Chaos datacenter, I'm sure XiXiQ is already surrounded by non-English Europeans. I highly doubt NA players love your 300ms ping any more than xenophobic JP players love us. Masamune and Tonberry has healthy populations of Oceanic players, because plenty of Oceanic players see the sense in playing on the server with lower ping. It's not even hard to communicate enough with JP PUGs because auto-translation phrases and simple common abbreviations and terms.

There's nothing wrong with choosing to play on NA/EU servers, but you have less justification for complaining about ping if you aren't choosing the closer server.

According to the streamed event over the weekend, this is just a media tour :( Doesn't sound like anything for the public...

Hopefully it means good things for the future though. If he's willing to recognise that this part of the world exists, we may be able to get some Supanova/etc appearances out of him ^_^

Old, I know, but I am going to reply.

first, as it happens, my ISP at this time had 250 ping to Canada - and 280 pings to Tokyo. (6 months ago it was 290+ to both places).

second, I did not "choose an EU server" When I signed up originally as a beta, SE decided I was to use an EU server.

Now I have a different ISP, and I can get around 160 pings to Tokyo. While moving servers is probably a good idea now, I can't take my house or my friends with me - not to mention most of my gil - and frankly, this is not a problem of my making.

im n aussie playing in odin aswell :3 and yeah theres rarely any lag at all n 90% of the players actually speak english so the person ur replying to really has no diea what hes talking about :P
