Completing this levequest as a class other than <class> will reward FEWER guild marks

The title of the thread is the message that appears when you activate a guild mark levequest as a class other than the one for which you would receive guild marks. This message is misleading; you are indeed rewarded fewer guild marks, but fewer (in my opinion) implies you will still receive some. I do realize that before you actually hit the button to activate the leve there is a message that states you will receive no guild marks, but I still feel this one should be changed. Sorry if it seems a bit nit-picky, but I appreciate the localization team's great work so far ^^

This isn't nitpicky at all; and I agree wholeheartedly that it should change. My retainer forgot to give me back my wand one day (so forgetful, that girl) and I decided, eh, what the hell, I'll run as a Thaumaturge and take the hit. As I killed the final mobs and the fanfare began, I started to think, "I wonder how many fewer I'll get..." and then:

Conjurers' Guild Marks: 0

And I quote: "FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

Well, you get marks based on how many mobs you kill on that class. if it's 1000 marks in a leve with 10 mobs and you kill 5 enemies on the correct class, you get 500.

On one hand, why would anyone even do that?

On the other hand . . . . there were all those times I got frustrated by a R30 giving my R25 too much trouble and just nuked. everything. on my 50 before time ran out. . . .

tl;dr version: Marks are offered for a guild randomly selected from among those a) in which the player meets the recommended rank, and b) are located in the city-state the guildleve is being viewed in. Fulfilling the objectives of the levequest as a class other than this will yield fewer marks (down to a minimum of 0).

After some thorough fact-checking, I'd like to reply to this thread with an explanation of the mechanics at work behind this system message.

By way of an example, let us assume we have a character with the following classes: thaumaturge (rank 30, Ul'dahn guild), conjurer (rank 35, Gridanian guild), and archer (rank 33, Gridanian guild), and lancer (rank 17, Gridanian guild). On a battlecraft guildleve, the guild for which marks are offered as a reward is selected at random from among those guilds a) in which the player meets the guildleve's recommended rank, and b) which are located in the city-state where the guildleve is being viewed.

Therefore, in the case of the above character, a rank 30 guildleve in Gridania would offer guild marks for either conjurer or archer. Thaumaturge marks would not be offered, since that guild is located in Ul'dah, and neither would lancer marks, as the character's rank in that class is not high enough. To be clear, both the regional and rank conditions must be met.

The class which appears in the system message in question (below) is the one that is randomly selected in the manner described above.

Completing this levequest as a class other than [[class]] will reward fewer guild marks.

What this message attempts to convey is that fulfilling the objectives as a class other than that for which guild marks are being offered will yield fewer marks. As AdvancedWind stated, killing half of the target enemies as the appropriate class and half as another class will yield half the guild marks. In the most extreme case, as Anonymoose experienced, killing all of the target enemies as another class will yield 0 marks. I understand that "fewer" may be misleading in regards to the latter, but we wrote the message this way to keep it simple while still accounting for both zero and non-zero values.

It is also worth noting that only the actual fulfilling of the objectives as another class will lessen the amount of guild marks awarded. For example, if the guildleve calls for the extermination of 10 monsters, only the slaying of those monsters as another class lessens the amount of guild marks you receive. Other elements such as the class you are while traveling to the levequest location, or the class you are at the time you turn the levequest in, etc. will have no effect.

Really there is people who don't understand that? It explains itself, maybe if you aren't main language English and play English version I guess I could see that being a problem, other than that, but I guess they could simply say If you want the reward you have to do it on this class etc.

This message also seems to popup unnecessarily such as when changing equipment that isn't your primary weapon but that's not really a localisation issue.

Thats a really important thing to know, i dont remember reading that in the patch notes, thats why i've been having trouble for getting marks on my thm and conjurer, before the patch i could get marks for thm even if i didnt have the rank for that leve.

Please let us know about this changes at least as soon as you get the patch realeased, this arent things that a player can know that easily, the old system had a random mark reward system and i remember doing leves above my rank (i was a rank 20 thm and was doing rank 30 leves) and was getting marks for that class
