If you lose your ISP connection it takes approximately 10 minutes to get back into the game. Is there any way to fix this bug?
FFXI did not have this issue, or if it did, the time it took to log out your character during a crash must have been very low.
I suggest a fix to allow quicker log in, after ISP connection is re-established.

It should be like in XI where when you try to log in on a character that is already in-game it kicks the character off, rather than not being able to log in due to your character still being in the game world.

Good for those who want to play 30 min , 15 min to play and 15 min to try get in back >< i believed ffxiv is for those who don't have much time too play lol. This is for sure one of the bIggest dark point of FFXIV . It happenned to me D/Cing 5 times in 2 hours so 75 min trying to log in back . Well the game is free , so it's not that bad but when we'll start to pay per month ... ... hope i won't give up 'cause of this .

The thread was moved from In-Game Bugs to General Discussion since it's more feedback/suggestions related. The time it takes to re-log after being disconnected is very inconvenient, so I know how frustrating it can be. Hopefully the concern will be addressed to minimize re-log downtime! -

Also, if you disconnect during a leve, you automatically fail, so it would be good that we could go on doing it.

If you get disconnected, don't immediately try to log back in. The server still recognizes you as being logged in and if you try you'll get locked out for more than 5 minutes. Instead you have to wait at least 1 minute for the server to recognize that you've disconnected, then log back in. This has worked for me.

Doesn't always work. Sometimes the char stays in the game for 10+ minutes instead of disappearing after a minute or so like it should.

there is a way around this, create a second toon, when you dc log into the second toon, then relog onto the first, I know I know but it is a quick fix

On the up side to this method, if your account is compromised and your character is active in game, they can never log into your character. In XI, they could get access to your account, kick you out in the middle of your own session, then change your information so that you cannot get back in fast enough to counteract the cyber assault. This way, the compromiser cannot access your account right away and change all of your information. It's a bit of a moot point though as all the compromiser has to do is wait for you to log off.Quote:

In my humble opinion, this particular problem and the lack of linkshell usability are two indisputable fixes that need to be addressed. While a lot of the proposed changes we've seen mentioned in the "Letters from the Producer" updates can be up for debate, these two issues seem almost undebatable but are not getting the recognition they deserve I'm afraid.
They also seem like very easy, no nonsense fixes to boot. They should've been implemented a couple of patches ago honestly.
I also think how guildleves react to disconnects may also be some form of "cheating" security measure. If it's implemented as some posters have already shown, it's a moot point. No one would feasibly disconnect on purpose to finish a leve if the counter kept running independent of their character being logged in. Their is no motivation to do so.
I also think that "Guildleve behavior upon disconnect" should have a thread topic all it's own as it also needs much attention. -

I don't believe this is a security issue, as with coding, there is some place in the software that has a count down of sorts from the last time data is received. Currently the count down or timer is set to a longer time than needed. Although hard to believe, it is as simple as reducing the timer. Programming 101.
The problem is as long as SE believes this is acceptable... as in a suggestion, they will keep it on the back burner, and work the bug list instead. It should be seen as a bug in order to raise the importance higher on the "to do list", otherwise it will not get fixed. -

While logged into 1 try to log into another. You will get that error every single time you attempt... unlike FFXI you cannot log in at all with a character logged in already.
So if you dc, you have to wait until it dcs before logging back in.
I say fix the crash issues, leave the security. I would rather never have to talk to SE with a hacked account again took me 7 calls and over 3 hrs on the phone total (which was not toll free) to get my password reset in XI. So any enhanced security is a good thing. -
