What 3 star crafts have reminded me

Hasty Touch can be the most frustrating skill in the game. (SH2! HT failed! HT failed! HT failed! HT failed! HT failed!)

And then the 10% decides to rear its ugly head. It's more amusing when I get (+SH2) HT fail x5, (-SH2), Reclaim, 50% Hasty Touch success x3.

Just so we're on the same page, I'm not complaining and am more than capable of playing the RNG game. I'm simply remarking at how I (and probably most everyone else) forgot how retarded HT can be.

My current record for a missed Hasty Touch with Steady Hand II sits at 11 in a row. Just last week, I nearly came close at 8 misses in a row.

A friend of mine claims to have experienced 14, and I certainly believe him.

The most frustrating/expensive thing in this game is over-melding.... HT fail x 5 plus reclaim fail means I lost 200k at most. Melding fail x 5 means I just lost 0.5mio and I have to continue trying my luck for 29%/11%/5% at that cost...

I have failed a 45% meld 24 times in a row before finally getting it on the 25th. It wouldn't have been so bad if this wasn't back when even grade 1 materia prices were insane.

RNG can be so cruel at times. ~-~

keep reclaim handy is all i can say. I've only used the ability twice in my whole crafting career, but given that the standard 3 star rotations use hasty touch like crazy, I'm sure ill be seeing it again. thing is, its gotta be really bad to use reclaim. i had a few bad rngs earlier with 6 stacks of IQ only and still managed 100% quality, granted i got a good on BB, but still, its usually pretty salvageable. even if you screw up and try to push your luck, and don't have cp for reclaim, just make sure you finish the progress. people will take the discounted nq gear. I've sold 2 nq 3 stars for like the price of the mats and made my money back

If you have "Rumination" on your hotbar you will always have 55CP for reclaim before BB. Rumination on 4 stacks of IQ gives 32CP plus the 24CP from BB.

This is a really good tip, now if only i can find the space for it in the additional cross skills! Thx DingDing! I would love to see your Crafting Additional Hotbars as i find it hard to jugle the required 10 cross skills for each of my class'. Having so many different macro's (2*,3*) i'm constantly having to change up my cross skills depending on what class i'm on and what items i want to make. I find it very tedious. I only wish that we could save our Additional Cross skills to an Equipement Set.

I find myself usually juggling the Waste Not/WN2 skills as well as Ingenuity 1 as its only needed for 2*'s. If you can post a Screencap of your cross skills for 3star that would be nice.

Stuff that I keep up atm and do not change ever, these skills cover everything including items that are aspect aligned... hint use pbp. Infact I consider what they did to aspecting to be shameful as that could have been a really cool thing to factor in if done better from not only production but to quality manipulation

My setup is almost identical to Elasia's:

Ingen II, Hasty Touch, Reclaim, Waste Not, Careful Synth II, Tricks of the Trade, Comfort Zone, Piece by Piece, Steady Hand II, Byregot's Blessing

I don't use Innovation, so the 10th slot is for Rumination if I am doing 3-star or Manipulation if I am doing 2-star 40-dura mats.

thats a good point. I'm in the same boat though, i would probably need to swap out something i really need cross class wise for it. depends on the class i guess. i don't know why i hold on to innovation, because i never usually use it, i always end up using a basic instead of hasty if i have an extra TOT proc for a given craft, especially when in the position of needing to do one touch without a SH on. may find myself getting rid of innovation for rumination soon.

I got enough cp to just use the slightly more wasteful masters mend to free up the slot for any 40 dura, also I like the fact that 391+ craft makes them 1 hit less you are hqing while sbing for extra cash, I usually just buy premade now to save time when people get feisty and undercut each other a lot on twinthread, hippo etc... only thing I make of 40 dura anymore is darksteel rings because no one seems to ever sell those
