Carbuncle for Summoners!

Can this be a thing? Please? They have identical skills to the egi's but look 100000x better! All they'd need is an enkindle ability. Choice is never a bad thing~ carbuncle deserves a little more love!

Maybe they could give us a cosmetic choice, like glamour for our summon pet and we can make it Carby by using an item or something. Heck even do this with Eos and Selene, turn them into Carby's.... Seriously Carby has been support in the past.

Though on another note. Egis/Pixies seem to always get hit by landslide and recover because they hover. How would Carby survive?

The problem is each uses the exact same ability regardless of the class/Job ('Summon'/'Summon II') - it's not like FFXI where each summon was it's own specific spell, hence SE would have to change it considerably and actually make each summon an individual spell rather than all using the same ability slot. Of course they might consider doing this when Ramuh, Leviathan and Shiva egis are added later on, but for the present time at least I don't see SE changing this.

A 'carbuncle' is a gemstone (specifically a ruby, hence the ruby on his forehead) - thus rock on rock isn't going to do much. ;)

Well it was the same summon up until you added the soul gem to become smn/sch. If one wishes to use carby as smn it would be the same as it was prior to the soul stone being added. However, if one is sch using carby, the carby would get the healing fairy skills rather than the fighting ones.

Let's not forget that they're tons cuter, too.

A MMO i played a while back (Champions Online) gave you a dropdown box below a summon power which let you choose which visual appearance you wanted for your pet instead of it being tied to your powers rank like it had been for a while. A similar option here would be great :D

You know, if you never got Garuda-Egi you could have used Carbuncle on SMN, but of course that locks you out of AF head and relic.

Yeah I don't like Egi's at all and that's what keeps me away from the Summoner Job. I rather stay an arcanist kinda like how I prefer to going with Lancer over Dragoon.

Egi's are worst summon designs yet i wish we just had smaller versions of the original primal models as Egis. I approve and agree bumping this thread I miss Carbuncle so much.

Reading through this topic, I find myself wondering if I'm the only person in the entirety of FFXIV ARR that actually LIKES the Egis...

I like the Egis, but I do miss that little blue squirrel.

agree too, or a glamour system that lets us display the egi/carby of our choice.

would it be asking too much for glamour system to be able to glam over minions too? imagine summoning mog minion to fight alongside you, or warrior of light tanking in place of titan?

Supporting this idea! Carbuncle was so cute. It's a shame that you can only use it for a limited time before it gets ditched for different summons.

I'd rather have carbuncle than any of the egi's. Couldn't we at least get a ruby red carbuncle to play with?

I would love to have the ability to somehow use carbuncle on Summoner and Scholar as well, I miss the little guy.

I wish the skill icons would properly update to the correct summon when you get the upgraded ones.

This is why the game needs something similar to Minor Glyphs in WoW. The ability to change things cosmetically would be fantastic.

Obviously though, I wouldn't put that very high on the priorities list.

I don't mind egi's it's just that there visual appearance is horrible. At least carbuncle looks good.

Arcanist was my starting class. Loved those carbuncles. :c I'd totally hop back on board if SMN could use them.

I plodded along on ACN with dreams of Ifrit-egi tearing my foes to pieces. Then come to find that Green Blob-Egi is the only one worth using... Jumped right on BLM.

I'd probably want a better story excuse than 'summoning glamours', maybe some quest that powers him up or something. But that's just splitting hairs. I'd like to see a carby comeback. He works because he fits that size. Titan and friends don't work because they don't fit that size. Even if the designs were better, a tiny primal is going to be a disappointment.

Bring back carby and have a goal of making summons in the future that fit the size of creature that you're summoning.

I agree with you on this. Rather than having distorted versions of the primals I'd have preferred they had used other summons from Final Fantasy's repertoire such as Fenrir and Carbuncle.

It's weird how Arcanist has an actual FF summon, and Summoner gets these weird Egi things ;x

I want egi vanity slots. And I want egi models sold in the SquareEnix store. So I can pay them extra for a better game.

Let me buy a tiny verison of the real avatars for example, and I'd be very happy.

I'm new to the game and about to hit 30 on my ACN and I'm surprised to learn that my cutie pie carb will have to leave me by the time I choose to change jobs--what?! no way! I support this request!

i leveld a whole lot of my acn while soloing up to 50 with carbie. i had a better
time than trying to level my sch. love carby!
i hope 1 day they will at least let the egi's grow. so in time, like aion,
they will look better and near the originalish primal i guess lol.
or have limit breaks where you summon them. the lb system was a rushed design anyway

I kinda stopped playing my Summoner alt, not because of lack of fun, but mostly because of the looks (and the philosophical issues) of the Egi.

I'd love to have my arse-kicking, tanking little Topaz "Radioactive Squirrel" back at my side.

Support option to use carbuncle as SMN.

I WILL NOT REST UNTIL THIS BECOMES A THING! I WILL FIGHT FOR MY RIGHTS AS A LALAFELL TO HAVE CARBUNCLE BY MY SIDE WHILST WEARING A GIANT PHALLIC HORN ON MY HEAD.

I only support this if Scholars get in on the carby action too.
