realistic Q times

tonight I Qd up for titan ex. said the average wait time was 15 minutes. I waited 50 minutes w/o a Q pop. please do away with the average Q time in duty finder based on all jobs and simply make it based on role. say the average wait time for tanks is x minutes, dps is Y minutes, and healers are waiting X amount of minutes. instead of telling dps its a 15 minute wait please give us the realistic wait time and just say its 45 minutes. please stop misleading dps. please no one say go level a tank or healer cus I suck at those.

Go level a tank or healer.

"Level a tank" is not the solution to all problems with DF queues. Though, heck, at least you aren't trying to tell someone to level a tank to get their DD Relic quest done. . .

But it's not the average queue for the role. If the average queue for, say, a BRD, is 50 minutes but tanks and healers are getting in in five seconds, it's useless to tell me that the "average" is 20 minutes. Not only useless, but also somewhat misleading unless you take the effort to realize that the average is nowhere near what you should be expecting.

I tank and generally have five min wait for titan ex. Generally though I prefer joining a party finder or making my own. Generally the healers are last to join. Just start making parties :)

Except it already does exactly what the OP is suggesting. If I queue as a tank, it says the average wait time is "less than 5 minutes". If I queue as healer, it says "less than 5 seconds" (and then I get an instant pop). If I queue DPS, depending on the number of people queued it will tell me an exact number (usually around 25 minutes) or it'll say "greater than 30 minutes" because the wait time will never show a number greater than 30. In my experience queuing as DPS for stuff like the Expert roulette, the average wait time is actually pretty close to accurate.

However, for dungeons people don't do in the Duty Finder as often (and Titan EX is probably one of them, people know better than that) the average wait time will naturally not be very accurate simply because the "sample size" is smaller and spread out over a longer time period. There isn't really much of a way to avoid this.

My bf and I queue with both our tanks now and extreme modes are always instant.

Grab a tank friend or ask FC for help. Learning how tanking works also helps when you are on your DPS or healer. Levelling a tank is always an option everyone should consider.

Why give a crap about that average wait time in the first place?

Everyone knows theres a shortage of Tanks, and Heals to an extend: why bother about that number????

Ok SE removed it in 2.3, are you now waiting more happily? ^^

If you in fact are annoyed of waiting 40 mins as DD, than other ppl gave you a solution here.

It is the average for that job, and also takes into account how many people are still needed. But it's an average, sometimes queue goes faster than average, sometimes slower, sometimes very very slower.
If you join the same dungeon as tank, healer or DPS, the average it shows is not the same.

It's better to know about how much wait time you will have, you can decide to craft or fate in the meantime, and know when you have to start to think in swapping jobs to be able to join in time.

The point was: its an average and you will not know your exact waiting time, calculating it precisely is not possible.

Maybe SE should just state the following instead of concrete numbers..

Waiting time: Short
Waiting time: Moderate
Waiting time: Long

You would still have no idea ^^ and would not be disappointed by false expectations.
