Anyone doing the Atama quests? I just got my Zenith and just read that it would take me months to complete if I went full hard core rather than "filthy casual" like I've been doing.

Depends on how many horseshoes you keep around the house. You might complete it in like 20 hours, or you can be like me and go for over 10 hours and not find a single atma.
Your Atma relic will be your first step towards the Animus relic, which you will want to work for if you don't intend to farm Turn 5/Leviathan EX until you get your i95 to work with (with the T5 cane being better for the WHM). If the acquisition of these i95 weapons is in any way possible for you, I recommend taking that way, as even if you were to go Atma Thyrus in due time, it is still going to have the Zenith's i90 stats on it (despite being i100). Note: I mean in the short run, the eventual Animus relic will be worth it in the long run.
Personally, I have 5/12 atmas under my belt. My motivation plummeted for them, as I have the i100 Tidal Wave Codex for my main (lucked out for this, 65 kills so far and 1 mirror, lol), which is already equal to/slightly better than my Animus relic would be. I will get the Atma relic and then the Animus relic before 2.25, though, to not lag behind when it is customizable at some point. Will do it chillingly now, which is fine.
In my opinion, at least the healer Zodiacs are pretty meh. They will take very long to obtain - I only got the Atma yesterday, 2 weeks after patch, and I doubt I can keep the pace for 1 book per week, so I'm prob looking at 12 or more weeks for the books alone.
For my white mage I'd prefer the Yagrush which should be easier to get than Thyrus Animus (3 weeks of soldiery and a not yet clear drop). For my Scholar I'm doing the Animus, but not because the relic is good... Like Tranquil said, both the Levi book and T5 are already better than Animus, not to mention the 110/115 weapons.
I'm doing the Animus for 2 reasons mainly, 1) it's a slow, but steady weapon progression, so until I get one of the better weapons (Atma is my strongest weapon atm...) I can pick up some extra stats to help with content. 2) so I don't fall behind on the quest line, like many others I hope that stat customization will finally make the relic a BiS item. Getting rid of all that spell speed... *dreams* :)
I'm now nervous since I am very behind on a lot. I've been running crystal tower for gear so much that main story quests are stalled at the thornmarch, Tome grinded a bit for DL gear when you could purchase it and general bsing around. I've yet to finish turn 1 successfully.
About the horseshoe thing, does horseshoe logos count for real horseshoes :P
Thornmarch normal mode? Was pretty easy - I finished it with DF on the 2nd attempt (only time I ever went in there).
You can still tome grind for myth (i90) or soldiery (i100).
Also, Coil is slowly getting an Echo buff that makes it easier each week iirc. There were groups pre-2.2 that did turns 1-5 in about an hour. If they can do that, without Echo, then you can do t1 with Echo. :) Just takes some time trying and learning.
as a casual player, it wasnt bad for me. I got my atma wep as whm 2 days ago. i work a lot and only get to play ~5-6 hrs a day. 8pm-~2am. I did all my dailys (roulette and beastmen) before I started my atma farming for the day. Its doable in a reasonable time. Now farming for myth is a little longer but not too bad either. Casuals just have to look at it differently. I play music, text, etc. while I play. So it never felt like a grind.
tips:
if you feel slumped in 1 atma spot, just move on and come back. change of scenery works.
also try to not just random aoe in fates. i like focusing on 1 mob at a time. seemed to work better for me
i got my first atma by swtching zones 1st day, then i havent done any, but, i wonder if this has something to do or maybe it was a coincidence? i have seen people saying that after 10 hours they got their 1st atma
I'm getting mine done basically because we're prioritising getting our dps the i110 weapons before we start on healers and tanks. It's a lot of effort for 1 weapon damage, a few mind and some mostly irrelevant off stats but future upgrades and potential customisation should mean it's decent in 2.25.
I'm waiting until they nerf Atma. TBH I prefer allagan book anyway.
Sadly, the Allagan and High Allagan book are far better than the Omnilex Zenith and Animus, respectively, so busting our butt on getting the Animus is rather unrewarding. Still, the attack rating increase is worth upgrading Allagan -> Animus if you're having trouble getting the High Allagan to drop.

have in mind that you need to use Japan local time for it to be accurate.
The atma theory I've been trying and it does seem a bit off since they suggest using JST and I've been having insane luck using LT.
That being said, these relics are going to ultimately be around as time goes on to push up further so might as well start on it. It will take a while, people ask me how long it takes I tell them I should have my 12th atma by the time my son graduates college, I don't even have any kids yet. But sounds reliable enough.
It all depends on luck and effort I guess, It took me 4 days to get the 12 atmas, I found them like this:
First day: 3 Atmas
Second day: 1 Atma
Third day: 7 Atmas
fourth day: 1 last Atma.
