"Gather items comparable to your own level 100 times"

I am gathering level 50 items as a level 50 BTN and I get no credit towards this challenge, what gives?

What are you gathering then? Not all items on level 50 nodes are level 50 items.

Grade 3 catalysts, also a piestiskin map gave no credit either. The gathering log lists it as a level 50 item, so if it's not then it is rather misleading.

I finished both that and the 30 HQ items earlier using Rosewood Logs. I didn't notice if my treasure map counted towards the gathering challenge, but I accidentally fished one up yesterday and that counted towards my 100 fish challenge entry. Seems there's a bit of inconsistency involved.

I'm level 26 btn and hitting the level 28 and 30 items in Summerford farms isn't giving me any credit either. I am curious, the symbol is a fish, does that mean it only works on fishing?

You need to gather items that's close to your level. It's not the gathering node level that matters, it's the item level itself.

So yeah, mining a lvl 1 crystal shards at lvl 50 nodes doesn't count if you have lvl 50 miner for example. Mining cobalt ore does count.

Oddly, whatever item level you mined on that gathering node does indeed count toward luminary achievements.

I know for the companion entry in the challenge log the "near your level" means the enemies have to be no more than 5 levels below you, so, assuming the same applies, items of gather level 45+ should count. I can confirm on Botanist that rosewood logs (lv46) count towards it, AND that grade 3 carbonized matter (lv50) does not. It probably has something to do with the fact that it can't be HQ, same probably happens with maps.

If I am understanding you correctly, yes. The gathering (mining and botany) challenges are separate from the fishing challenges. Fishing does not count towards the "gathering at your level" and "gathering HQ at your level" challenges.

Then it makes no sense that the leves items I gathered counts towards it. I was leveling BTN from 48 to 50 last weekend and got the achievement hitting just the leves items.

I'm level 28 and was gathering the level 28 and 30 items, not the nodes. The actual items we that level. Originally I hit the crystals and noticed they we level 1 so I switched to the other items.

I'm a level 50 Bot/Min and I get credit when I gather anything level 45 and up. But I'm a pimp at this game so that could be it.

Try something that has an HQ possibility instead of carbonized matter and dye pigments.

"Something to do with" I did not say any item that can't be HQ doesn't count. To me, it makes sense that leve items would fall into their own category for challenge log purposes. As with the screens posted by MIGhunter, pigments apparently fall into that category too. Pigments are only lv28, and crystals are 26 so they aren't anywhere near my gathering class levels, so I cannot confirm this however. I could check clusters, but I would just assume for leveling purposes just go to normal items (ie. not pigment, not carbonized matter, not any type of crystal)

It should be noted, just in case anyone isn't aware, that the challenge log only updates when you re-open it, so it won't update as you gather.
