Just wondering what the link command in the item management menu does. Seems to be new after the 2.2 patch.

Haven't tried but sounds like it might link the item in the chat box.
On a side note, you can link items to the chat just by dragging & dropping them on the chat box aswell.
It's actualy great for crafters if somebody want to order a specific items (and they have them in inventory / armory indeed) they can just "show" you (they can also link it from market boards) - this is particulary usefull when trading with players using the game client in another language.
Would really love this feature. I'm on JP client so when I drag/drop item into chat window the text displays in JP for English players and they're like what!? (already made bug report on that one) Right now putting [] before/after the <item> and telling people to mouseover to check English name lol.
Excellent.
Can we please have a hotkey for linking too?
What does link do?
Link saves Hyrule.
would be nice if hovering over the item name in chat gave the item stats.
It shows the full item tool-tip, minus affixed materia information (for now), including stats:

Along with materia melds, it would be nice to also include relevant HQ information if the linked item is HQ. Without materia and HQ info, the item link feature just seems like a placeholder for something better.
I wanted to let you know the team is planning on making the item link name compatible with the auto-translate feature. They are looking at the timing that it can be implemented, while considering the overall implementation of other upcoming adjustments.
The dev. team is also looking into how to accomplish this in the future as well.
Awesome, thanks for the update Bay.
Ah thank you for asking with this thread. I was also wondering what this feature was for.
how can you link items in chat that you cant select on a vendor or mb? like a raid wpn (the dreadwyrm handgonne) for example...
You would have to have it, be able to see the name in the chat log (like when it says "x obtains y), or have it in a loot table. You can't link a weapon if you can't select it in some way. Like if someone links a weapon in chat, someone else could right-click the name and then link it again or you can right-click it from the loot table and link it. Basically you just have to be able to right-click the name or weapon icon (and then of course click "Link"). Hope that makes sense, I'm kinda bad at explaining things.
ok thanks alot madame!
