Payed Services - How much are you willing to spend?

How much are you willing to spend on payed services?

Right now we have:

$14.99 - standard subscription
$2.00 - additional retainer
$2.00 - second additional retainer
----------
$18.99

Ok, so $18.99 for the "full" experience and all payed benefits. Looks a little high for an MMO - but personally, I probably put 20 hours a week into this game right now. So less then a quarter an hour... As far as entertainment goes I want to say that's a pretty fantastic value.

So how about it? That look reasonable to you? What about the future? Do you like the idea of a À la carte MMO, or would you rather your subscription covered everything? How much more are you willing to dish out? Do you feel that the inclusion of additional payed services degrades the value of your current subscription? Any other thoughts on the matter?

Mind you, I'm not talking about vanity items, Fantasia or anything else that has no bearing on the actual game or your capabilities within it. I'm asking only about services, monthly fees that offer whatever advantage it is they offer be it additional storage, income, etc. etc.

Legacy: 9.99
Entry: 12.99
Standard: 14.99

Those are the prices for the full experience. Maybe you just joined, but I got the full game paying my 9.99 sub fee and I don't recall any content being blocked by any additional fees.

No, but it's inevitable because Yoshida himself said NA gamers are more inclined to pay for items than a sub fee.

Personally, I'm willing to pay a sub fee but NOT willing to pay extra for anything. The extra retainers aren't game-breaking so I don't mind, and I think stuff like Fantasia and server transfers are also fine to charge for. The second they charge for anything that affects gameplay, I am unsubbing.

So how many retainers do you get for your $9.99? Only two? Then you don't actually get everything the game has to offer. You could have 350 extra inventory slots, 40 extra Market Board slots, and 2 extra people to send on ventures! ;)

By "influences gameplay" I meant Pay2Win type items, such as armor/weapons that aren't simply cosmetic, stat boosts, potions that give you increased chance to overmeld materia, things like that. I'm still on the fence as to whether insta-max-level upgrades like WoW sells would make me quit the game or not, but basically anything that would make players not on a level playing field based on how much extra cash they feed SE, is what I'm talking about. And yes, it does influence my enjoyment, because, as Yoshi-P said himself in the interview, it causes the development team to focus on those items that bring them more cash, rather than making new content. Less new content = less enjoyment over the long run.

For current game content without the current lag issues I'd be willing to pay up to 9,99 euros a month. I am not willing to pay for any additional services outside monthly subscription. If I'm playing when they release the first expansion, I will pay for that. With current lag issues, I don't consider the game even worth the base subscription as I'm paying for a service that isn't working as it's supposed to.

I'm willing to pay a subfee up to $20 or $30, and if there were cash shop items, i'd be inclined to indulge in those as well, so long as it was to my liking.

The cost/hr relationship is still an extremely cheap for of entertainment when you consider going out to a movie costs about $7/hr and it's a finite source of entertainment.

I get the full experience paying my legacy price at 7.99 a month ( 6 month deal). I don't need some silly extra retainer to make my experience better.

Edit: Also don't give me that "Extra Ventures" crap. Because those "Extra Retainers" don't stop me from use the Venture system at all. ( I am only using 1 of my 2 and keeping it that way).

Legacy sub and two extra retainers, why? Because 14 bucks a month is chump change and gives me unlimited entertainment for 30 days.

None. I'm cheap. I'll make do with what i've got.

I suppose, if one is interested in this, the answer is to check out some of the F2P games that have microtransactions. You should be able to tell how popular certain things are; and at the same time how much people are willing to spend. That data could be used to make an educated guess with this game.

I'm not a fan of P2W or even F2P, as I have seen games ruined by those ideas, that said I would pay for one time vanity things and fun things like that. Such as a Chocobo Respec potion, or namingway cards and stuff like that.

I don't buy extra retainers, I didn't buy the collecters edition, and yes I am still getting the full game experience. These are such minor add-ons and people are crying because they can't have them. People complaining about this are like people who go to wal-mart and demand a discount because the box of cereal they picked up has a few scratches on it.

I know my gf and I aren't going to pay 60$ a month for a sub, cash shop items are fine as long as they are totally optional and in no way affect progression.

Your movie cost example is something that people with jobs and bills will understand, teen squeakers however just don't care, this game is indeed cheap cost entertainment.

I would pay $18 alone for a fantasia vial =/

Besides stuff for things like (reasonably priced) characters transfer and a rename. Nothing. If it's not viable with the current sub then increase the monthly price don't employ extra sub services.
