Call it what you will but with all the complain threads I figured a good chuckle was in order.
Atma= soul/"self"
Well guess I'll use the OP's thread since he himself just tried to troll.
The truth behind Atmas
The heavy, unjust RNG (random) system of the Atmas serves two purposes ;
- To maximize the Player count participating in FATEs and simulate Open World Events.
- To simulate that a Zone is lively and full of Players.
These two purposes serve a greater goal, to prepare low/mid/high lvl zones for 14.4.14.
Yes the Atma system only serves to simulate Player activity in the lower lvl zones for the upcoming PS4 player-base.
If you think about it it suddenly makes sense why they've implemented such a random reward system for something this desired by the higher lvl players.
So some players will have to do FATE after FATE in hope of an Atma drop not knowing if the'll drop it soon or never all this just so that PS4 players see a lively world when they'll arrive.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against ps4 players but having farmed for hours these last 3 days and not having a single atma might have awoken the Agent Moulder in me ...
it's a timesink
Problems with the way it is design now, people will probably upgrade only one of their weapon.
If the drop rate was better and the process more enjoyable, people would upgrade multiple zenith and low and mid level FATE would still be populated.
I haven't really started going all out farming for Atmas yet (only have 2/12), but I think the system is pretty decent if you consider it as a time sink system design for ONE weapon for your main/first alt only.
Putting that aside, if we are to consider doing multiple Atmas, I think they should either:
A: increase drop rate of Atma
B: reduce mytho cost per book, probably around 800 ~ 1000 mytho each
and things will be pretty balance. Hell, I wish they will just increase the overall amount of mytho we earn from the game. It's not even funny how little mytho we can get now unless we can do every single duty roulette nearly everyday. Unless SE wants to cut majority of the players down to focus on one main job only.
Slightly off-topic (but link to my previous point), I wish SE can reduce the requirements for the two new tanks mount to 100 dungeons or include more dungeons that add towards the count. Right now it seems that only people who are main tanking end game (?) content have any hopes of getting them. I know it's meant to be a tank-only thing, but seriously? It's almost feels like the 2.2 patch is forcing us to pick only 1 job after all the diversity they have given us before.
The real reason for Atmas is to confuse the FFXI players. xD
This is the only thing i really complain. There is a truth behind the "you can be whatever you want", when the real point is "...if you want to have a shitty character on everything. If not, just focus one job". I know that's the way it works, but... it hurts.. T-T
About "main tanking end game".... naaah, those mounts were to reward "real tanks" tanking content since the beginning of 2.0. Thanks God they got their reward ^^..... *cough cough*
No, what they want is to make relic weapons as rare as they, quite honestly, should've been in the first place. Weapons for all jobs can be obtained from multiple other sources, such as soldiery or Leviathan. Atma will in no way "cut you off" from other jobs. What does cut you off from other jobs is all other content. You will never be able to have all jobs fully geared in [whatever the current maximum item level is], no matter how dedicated you are. Stupid weekly locks.
Well.... yes and no. Of course they want to make relic weapons rare. But to upgrade my relic i have to spend 13500 Myth.... enough to upgrade 3-4 jobs to their AF+1 gear (you can DF coil, yes, yes, good luck with RNG tho). So in a way it's "cutting" us off from other jobs
And
They're
Moaning
Again
Its cuz ppl want to be the jack of all trades.
If you know how much grief and terribad rng luck will come from this, why even bother and pursue it? You are just beating urself up over a small thing. You probably wouldn't even use those alt classes for content u r unfamiliar with.
Sure it gives you more options but those options die here as the Atma quests and 2nd coil rng are here to make sure of that.
The only thing that is going to save u are the sol tomes and tidal weps.
But atma and coil brings out our worse halves as its mind numbing rng kills our gear progression's libido!
You give people something (diversity) and then take it away (to a small extend) and expect people to not say anything? It's not gonna happen.
I won't claim that I have been actively using every single job I have, but I have been using my WAR and BLM (I main DRG) for a good amount of time for anything besides Bahamut Coil 2. So it would be nice if I can gear them up to a certain extent over time as well without killing myself over it. I've never downright rant about anything before either, I usually like the ideal but ask for some small/medium improvements (if possible, but never happens) without denying/scrapping the whole ideal.
...okay, I did rant about the "RNG" of CT loot algorithm before, but I suggested a token system to go in parallel with the RNG loot system instead of just downright ranting about RNJesus only.
Ten minute long dungeons that drop two chests every time and can be repeated ad infinitum, you're saying it as if there's a super small chance it'll ever drop. If that is not to your liking you could always buy some of the new item level 90 gear. Atma weapons are not hindering you from doing that, either.
Excuse me but I never blame my parents for anything I do or did and I expect other to not boast about them too.
I should have added that I don't want the weapon served on a silver plate but that I want to earn the damn thing.
I absolutely do not want to go in, get lucky and have all 12 Atmas in the pocket, no, the Animus system is way more interesting in that matter.
It at least gives you the feel of progression and not the urge to pray to some gods in hopes of a drop.
I even saw people start doing the "atma dance" because they say it increases the chances of getting one.
How desperate are they ? How long did they farm ? Do they even know what an atma looks like?
Now I hope you get my point. I do not want gear handed to me but I don't want to be a fat chocobo running because someone on it's back is holding a cabbage on a cane either.
With all due respect, let's agree to disagree. Firstly, I believe the "ten minute long dungeon" that you are referring to is turn 2 with rot, yes? (Since enrage should go over ten minutes from what I heard). You do notice that Merle mentioned about DF-ing coil right? Depending on server and timing where a player hits up on DF, one might need a good amount of luck to even clear the run, let alone to do speed clearing (ten minute runs). Not everyone is lucky enough to get enough players to form a full pre-made party to farm BC now, especially with all the new content to grind on.
And the next point, you sounds like you're never one of those people that failed to get the desired loot even after farming for the same thing over hundred of times before. If that's true, good for you (really, no sarcasm here), but there are unlucky people out there.
'Atma' Is just an anagram for 'Maat'. Guess who we'll probably have to fight to get through an upgrade at some point? :)
Maat fight confirmed?
Portal 3 confirmed?
Can't take credit for the anagram thing. An FC mate read it from a tweet. Thought it was interesting.
