Enjoy!
I'll be going to the one in Berlin on the 13th of this month.
Finally managed to snatch myself a VIP ticket as well.
I went when it was in Chicago.... I think 2 years ago? Never saw so many Yuna's.
Hope you have a great time! I was gonna go but can't make it due to illness now.
I went to one in Chicago 5 years ago and again in Columbus, OH about 2 years ago. It was amazing. Take some money, they have lots of stuff you'll want to buy (cd's, shirts, art books, etc.)
The one I went to in Columbus did not have a chorus, so at the end, the audience had to sing One Winged Angel. It was a moment I'll never forget. :)
I went to the one in Adelaide 2 years ago. It was a real blast, although the venue where the concert was held was quite stuffy.
Nobuo Uematsu himself was sitting about 6 rows ahead of mine, and he went on stage to play the keyboard for the performance for Dark Worlds (FFVI), as well as joining the choir for the rendition of One-Winged Angel (FFVII).
I only wish I decided to shell out a bit more on merchandise, I didn't get one of the Distant Worlds DVD, and the shirt I bought was a tad bit too small...
They were just in Boston in October. It was amazing! The community got together at that time via FB, Twitter, and other forms of social media and planned a day out before the concert. Met so many amazing people. Sadly only one or two were actually on my server :( Would have loved to meet more on mine!
I actually feel pretty lucky, as a group of friends from Adamantoise are meeting up and we are all going together! Finally; a chance to wear my good suit again! (only had an excuse to wear it to my wedding and to Cirque du Soleil). Can't wait to see the turn out. I know this area has a surprisingly large fan-base.
Thanks for the heads up! I actually hadn't even thought about merchandise being available!
Have fun! I've been to a show in Houston, TX and Atlanta, GA and have to say it was great both times. I'm hoping they put out a Distant Worlds III CD which includes tracks from XIII and XIV soon. If you could, let us know which tracks they play? Especially if there are any from the new games. Oh! They also mentioned creating a new bell medley or battle medley. Let us know if they play anything like that too! There was talk of them doing "Those Who Fight Further" from VII. At the Atlanta show last year, they played "Battle of the Four Fiends" from IV. It was amazing! ^_^
I was at the one in pittsburgh 2 years ago and, to be honest, I was kind of disappointed.
Let me elaborate: The music was fantastic. Simply phenomenal. But I expected A LOT more from the visuals. In the back of my crazy FF fan brain, I was hoping for original content. But I was expecting, at least, for the visual content to match what music was being played. It didn't even come close.
I'm also not a huge fan of One Winged Angel, which ended the show. They did do the Maria/Draco opera tho, which was amazing.
Best thing about the visuals...you can tell the people who played while recording had no idea what they were doing lol.
Case in point: They played "Memoro de la Ŝtono" from XI (theme of CoP) and showed a clip of the airship fight. The thief used Sneak Attack in front of Omega without using Hide. I shook my head and looked at the guy next to me. All he said was, "Yeah..." and dropped his head lmao
But the music was great!
Other fun things about the show:
The cosplay! My wife was NOT ready for the crazy and elaborate cosplay. I think she was most impressed with a girl who was dressed as Terra, but she was half human Terra with green hair and half esper Terra. Other standouts were a girl in a traditional white mage outfit, and a fat guy dressed as a fat chocobo. (My wife said "Who comes to one of these shows dressed as a giant chicken? That just rude." I was dyin, hahahahaha)
The merch. Its expensive, but there was some awesome merch available, including cd/dvd/digital media of past shows, shirts, hoodies, and the best: stuffed moogles!
Also, there was a lady in front of us who had some of the actual consumable "elixir" potions that I guess were sold in japan for either final fantasy xi or xii. Anyways, she let me taste it, and it was disgusting. Tasted like stale red bull.
Hope the visit Norway one day. Would LOVE to go and listen to the awesome music :D
KyroeFelix basically said it. With a Symphony the conductor and special performer(s) always exit backstage. Arnie is then taken to a room/designated area for VIP holders. The VIP holders form a line and wait to meet & sign with Arnie and if there is a special guest composer like Uematsu or Hamauzu for example.
Arrgh. I wanted to go but I can never get free on a week night! !@#$%!
I've waited 6 years to say this: I'm going to Distant Worlds tomorrow!
I was so pissed when they came to Miami, I ended up having to go out of town. I waiting for it too, I had my seat picked out getting ready to buy my ticket. Than I realized we already had plans to got out of town that day. >_>
Thanks for reminding me OP, I just realized they are coming to Toronto! I missed the last one so I won't miss this one.
Great show, every Final Fantasy fan should see it one day, especially Uematsu fans!
So looking forward to the show in Berlin on Sunday 13th, gonna be awesome! :)
I was gonna go to this one with some friends, but I don't think Nobuo is gonna be there. That kind of killed it for me : / have fun though.
They came to Mexico last month, it was epic, I'm gonna re post my picture with Uematsu

I'll be seeing this for the price of my Con admission for ACEN in May....just need to remember to get up/stay up for friday morning to get inline for the ticket...
Enjoy. My boyfriend and I went last year and it was fantastic. The man Nobou himself was there. On his birthday no less. He was fun to watch too along with the music. Nobou joined the choir and sung One Winged Angel. @_@ It was a joy to listen to. It was an unforgettable night.
absolutely fantastic show. Loved it! Loved the new Battle Medley! Also the song from Lightning Returns was great! Couldn't have been a better show!
