RNG is good and great, but some of us are slipping between the cracks and spending absurd amounts of time on this and getting no progress whatsoever.
20 fates - 1 atma
20 FATEs - 1 Atma... Wow, lucky you...
How about 130 FATEs - 2 Atma??
I guess reading is not your strong suit.
5 fates randomly joined in passing while doing some gathering...3 atma!
How about keep the current system and add
1 fate in 1 region per day (the first fate you complete on a given day in one of the atma regions)
Once you have 7 daily fates in a single region you get the atma for that region
12 atma @ 7 days each = 84 days or about 3 months
Knowing that you can still grind them for small drop rates like right now if you want to
20 FATEs is too low, and would make the weapon upgrade too easy to get. 100 FATEs is more like what I would expect.
I got 1 Atma after 23 hours of grinding. If that's any indication of how long the others will take, I'll accept 1200 FATEs per job, just to be able to know how long it will take to complete. And this should be a time sink, something that you have to work toward. You shouldn't be able to get the upgrade for all jobs in only a day or two, which is what 20 FATEs per Atma would lead to.
So you think that doing 10800 fates is reasonable? That's 1200 per job. Unacceptable.
yes. I tend play at odd hours when there are far fewer people. Alot of the gathering points are also far off from where the "bulk" of fates spawn, but have a few fringe fates that people are slower to get to. 3 of the five fates that popped near where I was gathering gave me an atma.
Here's a novel idea - do something else?
I've been complaining about this quest alot, but 20 fates is way to easy. i would say increase drop rate by 1% every 10-20 fates. or give it away 100% at about 100-200 fates.
Id like to see "atma shards" with higher drop rates on top of the atma, something that could average out to like 5 hrs ish worth of fate grind would eventually grant you the atma from "shards" if you just happen to have terrible luck :P
I will never understand the argument of "You need to work" for something in a -game-.
There is a significant difference between defeating a challenge in the game, and "working" to get something.
Fates are in no way a challenge. They are barely engaging, and lose their novelty quickly. This is all magnified to stupid extents when you add more and more people to them. I would rather spend 6 hours -wiping over and over- to an encounter where you fight every extreme primal -at the same time- for weeks at a time than do Fates. This is one of the worst designed treadmills for gear ever conceived, solely because it involves a mindless activity.
I wouldn't mind the RNG at all if it were connected to dungeons. At least in those I have the power to make it more interesting by pulling the entire instance and the bosses together if I so choose.
Whatever. I get a ton of them all of a sudden after two days of nothing. It's crazy -.-
Several people in my LS got 12 atmas in under 20 hours and it took me about 40 hours.... It's not that bad.
My latest tally, going by the 3000 fate achievement is 946 fates: 3 Atma.
Ridiculous... It just makes no sense for this otherwise great game to be gated by such a moronic, antiquated system. Sub is cancelled until some public announcement is made regarding a fix to this. It has ruined an otherwise excellent patch.
Should have just made it similar to other lockouts in the game. The Fates should have dropped coins to those with a +1 weapon. Some kind of seals of the bull or something and when you get 2000, you can buy that atma. Make it lock out after so many so you can only buy 1 or 2 atma a week. 12 atma...that'd still be 6-12 weeks minimum, but they lose the anger over the RNG madness. Though...that doesn't solve the issue of no one doing fates in certain regions...
That would be 10,800 "at most" for all 9 jobs if the safety net guarentees an atma at 100 FATE completions. One could feasibly still get an atma crystal sooner if FATE RNG is kind. If you intend on getting all atma weapons, enjoy the 121,500 myth tome grind on top of the current RNG atma crystal grind.
Not that it has any mathematical backing. On DD
Went 324 fates in a party did not get a single atma
Went solo, camped 1-2 of the more remote fates on the respective maps generally the boss ones. Got my atmas in no more than 10 fate cycles, most of them on the 2 or 3 occurrence.
Yes I know I probably just got lucky, but i am throwing it out there if anyone else wants to try this method.
