Thanks, Square for even worse character lag post patch that was supposed to fix positioning by speeding it up.. now instead of making it post heart on Titan 90% of the time my char gets hit after being out of the indicators by a mile. Way to kill progression still despite echo for folks who have been busting their butts trying to progress for the past 3 months yet... considering unsubbing because if I can't beat Titan EX, all I got right now left is Twin and Coil 6-9.. I won't even get into Atma because that's friggin rediculous as it is. Spent 6 hours between queues today farming one zone to get NOTHING. Yeah. This doesn't feel like progression. Echos were supposed to assist some of these things, but it can't assist when you lag out and get knocked off a stupid platform.

Previously it was bad now it's 100% unplayable. Anything after stone vigil is completely out of the question to even attempt.
Why are you prioritizing open world when you literally have nothing challenging in it?! I never have bad lag outdoors but in a dungeon it's just beyond terrible and broken. And by broken yes I do mean it literally. The game is completely unplayable in boss fights no matter what your skill level is.
Even lvl 40+ one shots are 100% lethal because even if you avoid the aoes you will still die to the hit every single time. -

I've noticed the lag TENDS to affect 4-man instances much more then 8-mans, but it is pretty unbearably annoying to consistently have to deal with combos not registering. I wouldn't say it's absolutely unplayable, but it is very, very obnoxious.
Hoping it's succinctly taken care of soon. -

I did Titan HM about 20 times the day after the patch trying to get my relic, wiping each time. At first I thought it was me and the PUG's just not reacting enough. I logged in the next morning and did not get touched except by tumult. I was relieved I finally finished but at the same time i thought, "did I really have to do this that many times?".
I'm sure they will get to the bottom of it soon. Just please do not bring the the game down for maintenance wed or thu, those are my days off ;p -

I would think a compromise of auto log out after 1-3 hours would be best. A half hour was short. But no auto log out and risk congestion with peeps just up and left their char and never came back. I'd prefer 1 hour but idk if that is enough time for others. I wouldn't keep an unmoving char in the game for longer than 3 hrs max.

They said it themselves that they aren't willing to put money into improving the servers.
I for one am willing to forfeit any future patches it costs to get the servers working. It's not unplayable when you miss a combo but when it consistently causes everyone to die to attacks no-one saw then it's broken. not a little rough around the edges but broken as in not working at all. -

It's kind of embarrassing that after 7ish months, this game still has serious lag issues. Yes, 2.1 was a blessing, but when it starts lagging again we can only hope that we'll have some "lag free" months again before the next lagging patch drops on us. -

Sorry to be the one to say it but, the reason we're lagging is because they removed the auto logout feature. Now the servers are overloading because the majority of the player base is not logging out but instead leaving their characters in game while the sleep, work etc.

autologout doesn't lag out the instance servers...and most people I know are still logging out as normal. It isn't like you can sit in Gridania and Bazaar....

I didn't realize they removed the auto logout feature XD I accidentally left the game open all Saturday evening. Apparently people in my FC were chatting with me and wondering why I was being rude :p
I believe the lag issues are almost 100% to due with congestion coupled with the new position checking. I often do dungeons at off-prime hours and I had no issues, but once it started getting into prime hours, the issues started again. Luckily, we somehow managed to kill Diabolos :p not sure how, since people were freezing and porting everywhere (and my instant casts took 3 seconds to cast!) -

New player here. I reached Titan in story mode Saturday. I was partied with my friend who was the healer and the 2 DPS were through the DF. The lag was unbearably bad. I'm mean, beyond ridiculous. People were getting knocked off who weren't anywhere near the attack cone. We spent the entirety of the 90 mins and still couldn't do it. We went back a few hours later and the lag wasn't as bad and we did it but still, I've never played an MMO where instanced arenas lag like crazy. The over world? Sure, if it's busy. But this is a tiny instance. I don't get it.

Still I can't play the new dungeons. The lag is so heavy that they are completely unplayable for me. I really want to go and try the new dungeons but I can't. I tried Lost City of Amdapor and the lag was so terrible that I couldn't even use my skills orr move. I was teleporting from place to place the same happened to the rest of the party's members. I'm waiting an official announcement about this problem. Maybe they can't give us tomes for the lost time but 3 days free for each account wont hurt them. After all those days were kinda lost as I could not play the new content.

I too had to give up running any dungeons. Most in my FC are affected by the lag. Many are getting stuck while teleporting too though. I'll see lag even while crafting (though of course it's not nearly as bad as in dungeons.)
My experiences are probably like y'all's:
- Rubberbanding. Party is frozen then 'teleports' to a distant point
- DC symbol often
- Using skills/spells but nothing happens
- Out of aoe/Don't even see the monster attack, then dead.
When we ran the new 4 man dungeons right after the patch hit, there wasn't a problem really. It didn't start until the day after. Is it because of the weekend? I live in the US and play on a JP server, so for me at least it's not a 'playing during prime time' issue.
I will add something I've noticed... There are about 329k JP characters spread over 30 servers. The highest pop JP server is Tonberry (not actually majority JP) with 17k. There are 426k characters on the 23 NA servers and another 149k on just 7 "EU" servers. To compare, the lowest pop EU server is Moogle with also about 17k characters. (All numbers approximated based on stats from ffxivsoul.) Seems really damn unbalanced to me. I do not know how servers work, but if they merged some of the JP servers (a few have <4k characters) would this free up servers for instances and thereby help with this godawful lag? -

The JP data center is completely separate. Even the 7 EU flagged servers are isolated within the NA datacenter with their own DF cluster. You can see that each small datacenter cluster (Aether etc.) has a different number of servers. This is to balance the loads on each individual DF cluster. FYI the AV lag is due to room 1 spam. Player base is doing it to themselves.

After the first couple tries I concentrated on watching everyone's placement because everyone who was eating was claiming they weren't anywhere near it and lo and behold they were right. Titan would do his cone attack, then turn back to me, the dragoon would reposition to flank him then suddenly shoot off at a right angle to the direction the cone was even in. I was surprised by the fact that I wasn't getting completely f*cked over when I finally got my Titan ex clear last night with my FC. Echo buffed, but damn the three people without clears finally got it. And yet in Brayflox HM and Lost City of Amdapor I've had multiple times where one second the tank is with me and the next the tank has essentially teleported on me and is with the mob. It's getting annoying.
Edit: I've also noticed a -lot- of issues with CT since the patch. The death grip staying after Acheron is killed for one. The other being the lag so bad that people are essentially caged in the part right after the cutscene. No one dc'd or in loading screen anymore from what can be observed. Then people just drop out after several minutes of being stuck there.
