Loading Screen locks at Swiftperch since update

Time: 11:25 p.m. EST
Frequency: Every log in.

Steps:
1. I warp to swiftperch
2. Game music seems to glitch, and stuck in black screen
3. Reloading game simply leaves you in the new log in loading screen instead.
4. Moving my character from the zone on pc version correct this briefly.
5. Returning to swiftperch causes loading screen lock up to resume.

Basically logged in picking up random quests, when traveling from Costa Del Sol to Swiftperch, loading screen locked up. Closed FFXIV, then logged back in only to be locked up in limsa background loading screen. Turned off PS3, repeated, same result. Went into Safe Mode on PS3 doing non-restoration options, still locked up.

Then logged into PC account, moved character from swiftperch to Missenmast, logged back into PS3, seeming fine. Then teleported to Swiftperch and again the loading screen locked up. I'm currently reinstalling the game to see if that helps.

Update - I've reinstalled the game, but the patch won't download properly. Starts alright, runs till it says there's about 35minutes left, and then gives me this error

[11006][20819][20831][19900][-2147418069]

So... at the moment, my PS3 copy is not functioning at all, first because of the above, and now because I can't resinstall the update successfully. Which is odd, because no problems updating my PC copy around the same time I begin working on the ps3 copy... and my PC is hooked up with wireless internet, and my Ps3 is wired ethernet.

So i watched it this time. Stuff appears to download find... and then the error says "Unable to update patch file"

So the download completes, it starts updating files... then it stops abruptly.

And now, I've reformatted my PS3 to factory settings, and doing the whole process over.

And now... even with a completely restored ps3, and reloaded software, I still get the update error.

I officially cannot use my PS3 at this time to play this game. :(

Just to add some more info... basically the download stops when trying to download update. It starts off with a minute countdown and a ratio of MB's left to download.... and then about 1/3rd in, the numbers counting down disappear, it just shows a bar that doesn't move and a wheel turning that does nothing.

Basically it's like getting stuck on a loading screen, before getting to a loading screen :P.

this sucks.

So.. this thread got moved to technical support.... but didn't bother to describe any possible solution. Are they trying to tell me this isn't a bug and is some how something I'm doing? << Cause I can't imagine doing more than reformating my entire ps3, reloading the software.. like I attempted to do. Actually tried that twice... however I can't reinstall the update, as I mentioned.

you can always buy a new hard drive see if thats the problem.

I could undo the upgrade and put in my stock hard drive.... but it just doesn't make sense that it would be the problem, as there was no problem UNTIL redownloading this patch. I even downloaded other games, FFX HD, which is 23 gb of data... without issue.

I've been having this issue (more or less) as well. It started with me, actually, a couple of days ago when I first traveled to Limsa Lominsa. At first everything was fine (post-patch) and i was running around, doing quests and whatnot, when my entire PS3 froze. Had to turn it off, restart it, just to encounter the same problem three more times within the hour. I figured it was installed data corruption (from a problem I had before with a different game) so I deleted everything, reinstalled the game and then had an issue with updating the patch files, same code as above. Went through the all day reformat with my PS3, reinstalled the game, tried to login and....bam. "Unable to update patch files" again.

So yeah, I'll be following this thread for some kind of answer as well.

Oh, and I have never switched hard drives. The hard that's in there is the one it was manufactured with.

Well atleast it sounds like that rules out my hard drive being the issue.

I wonder if anyone who attempts to update on Ps3 NOW will have this problem?

So, put the stock hard drive back in, and seems to be working now. My SSD worked fine before, and I'm not entirely sure why it doesn't now. So guess I'll use my stock hard drive for now :(... that's assuming the loading screen problem doesn't hit me.
