'Up in Arms' - Atma - The new Hamlet 2.0 Time Sync

I don't quite understand how this quest has anything to do with the story line. Why am I syncing to low level completely random FATE's in random areas for a 2% drop rate? What does this have to do with the story line or progression at all? This is just another boring time sync similar to Hamlet in 1.0. I can understand making relics hard to obtain, but it shouldn't simply be by complete random drop rates from random FATE's that have nothing to do with the story. I would understand maybe a requirement such as completing all EX dungeons, but this? This completely random RNG FATE grinding is just a complete yawn, sorry.

I agree...why the f**k am I doing lvl 4-10 FATEs to upgrade my i90 Weapon? How does that work? I honestly almost feel like quitting this game because the devs think this is any way acceptable...at least make us do high level FATEs...making me use Stone 1 and Aero 1 to grind FATEs in the newbie zones for days on end for an i100 Relic? You have serious issues devs, what on earth made you think this was in any way shape or form a good idea?

yea I hate to join the depression train but though I am loving the new patch, this forced fate grinding is really annoying I never liked fates only did them to get certain things done or level a class through a few levels to avoid DF but this is just stupid.

most players don't like fate's (at least most of my friends don't enjoy mindlessly grinding them) so why are you guys driving fates down our throats? don't even get me started on why 125 phil tomes somehow is now equal to 2500 GC seals -_-

Can anybody explain whole step?

Pretty sure the point of it is for all those lvl 50 players that burned their way to cap doing FATE grind parties and still don't know how to play their class.

I too am not a fan of this as I feel that grinding low level fates is incredibly boring and that the drop percentage is way too low.

I feel that they should increase the drop rate and make it drop from higher level fates or have new fates that are specific to the quest.

Dear square enix, I Have a lot of respect for your work and I do understand how hard it may be to please such a huge player base. Today, it took me 6h to get the first Atma: Atma of the maiden. It was a rather frustrating experience when my friend got 3 of those in less then an hour. I would like to know if this is "working as intended" or an upcoming fix will occur.

This is pointless. I have gone to all the different areas only to end up with 1 drop for over 9 hours now. I for one, like many others, would like to know the importance of having to do all of these fates over again? Is not enough that we did these fates can continue to do these fates as well level up classes? WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR ME TO GRIND LIKE THIS? WHAT IS THE POINT OF ADDING NEW CONTENT IF ALL YOUR GONNA DO IS MAKE ME DO THE SAME CRAP AGAIN? Did you run out of idea's SE? Yes an increased drop rate would be nice! Yes new fates or even the need to do higher level fates in other areas that do not see as much traffic would have been nice. Hell I would even settle for having to grind out EX or the newer HM you put it. Fate grinding is boring no matter how you look at it.

I agreed. I want to get my new powerful weapon through some difficult challenges fight but not based on RNG!! :mad:

Yeah, this is really horrendous.

I got 2/12 in around 3 hours, followed by 4 hours with no third. I proceeded to curl up in my bed and take a nap. I'm hoping for more news regarding acquisition changes or fixes in the near future.

I agree, this is completely and totally retarded and I absolutely refuse to spend 20 hours doing exceedingly easy, and boring low level fates! Terrible idea!

In addition you are ruining fates in those zones for new players or players who want to level since they cannot possible get enough damage done before 8+ people complete the fate. Hell I can solo these fates in under 2 minutes.

stop complaining about everything, you should be happy cos not everyone will be able to get the new relics that fast now. If i remember back to FFXI it took you like 1 year+ to get a relic and it wasnt hard either. I think its good that it takes abit longer now there is allways time to do some fates while you wait for some decent groups in partyfinder for other stuff.

I think the problem that a lot of people have with it is that it forces you to grind boring low level content since that is the most efficient way to get the items and that there is no certainty that you will get anything.

One person could potentially get all 12 atmas in an hour or less and another may spend 100+ hours grinding fates and never get one because it is based off of a random percent drop that is very low.
As one person stated they got 2 in around 3 hours, wherein I have spent over twice that time and have yet to get even one.

ahh just the thread I was looking for. Just finished 5th stupid FATE for 0 Atma. This part of the quest is dumb! FATES are dumb!! Trying to make them anything but a levelling tool for nubs who don't want to learn to play their class in dungeons is just silly.

Someone posted on Reddit they have already obtained all the Atmas for Sword/Shield within 12 hours.

Luck based gathering is old, Square. It's uninvolving, disassociating and something that doesn't belong in a game that is otherwise excellent.

I have been farming for almost 100 fates. I have 0. A friend did 5 fates and got 1.

This is ridiculous. Change this quest.

Yeah, because farming a chain quest of upgrading a weapon should be absolutely tedious. Perhaps we don't want other weapons. The point is that this quest is entirely random and has no basis in skill or ability. You either get lucky or you don't. You could be unlucky for months.

No you cannot, you need to have your Zenith weapon(relic +1) equipped and participating the fate then you will have a random chance to get the drop.... :(

This is rather silly and boring. A mix of fates, dungeons and primals on the other hand would have been okey, this on the other hand is simply poor game design. Like someone said, you do lvl10 fates that are easy in order to upgrade a ilvl90 weapon.
To make things worse it seems like the "upgraded" weapon has the same stats as the ilvl90 we are doing all this to upgrade... seriously SE?

Anyone know when and where the 1500x9 myths are used?

I would honestly rather the quest be to kill an *invincible* Bahamut in a dungeon that would take *literally* 1 year to unlock through random *new* questing...than this crap it is right now, at least then it would be challenging...no there is no gun to my head...yea Im not forced...I know this, stop being a troll and arguing semantics, there is no defense for this nonsense, its tedious bs, and makes absolutely no sense to upgrade my relic weapon...hell they could have done HM Chimera and HM Hydra or something...make it INSANELY difficult, near impossible to kill unless you get 7 people that are the very best at playing their class...MAKE IT HARD, hell make it IMPOSSIBLE (literally impossible Id have more fun trying and failing something that could not be beat, wasting money on repairs than this monotonous bs) !!!! I dont care about that, I LOVE challenges...but Level 4-15?!?!?! FATEs grind?!?!?! come on how can some of you seriously defend this, even if I got lucky and got every ATMA piece 1st FATE I did for all 12 pieces...I still wouldnt agree with this, its stupid, stop trolling

that's actually a good news for people with all Relic-Zenith and want to upgrade all of them!

This is silly, as a caster, I go into low level fates, cast my spell but mob is killed before I could do any damage. I completely understand and accept the grind to get relic upgrade but please make it a higher level fate not a fate where level 4 and level 7 mob.

Some people want to upgrade their relic. It isn't a choice. There is only one way to do it.
And the way to do it is moronic. The game is suppose to be fun, not boring. I would rather fold laundry. And I am serious.

Anytime when the way to progress in a patch, with supposedly new content, is by doing old content ad nauseam it shows a lack of imagination on the people putting out the content.

Well i just spend about 5 hours doing fates without one single drop. And i mean 5 hours non stop fates with other people, No offense but this is boring as hell so far... and you need 12?! jesus

Four hours grinding and not one drop. I don't even mind doing low level fates but it's not even remotely fun or entertaining to have RNG take over. One guy in my party had been farming 7 hours and nothing dropped and he was getting really down about it, constantly thinking he had done something wrong some how.

I get why they've made the relic weapon not come from doing hard fights: because they're worried about less skilled people being locked out of content. But do you think the more casual players are really going to spend hours farming fates when they have limit time to play anyway?

I don't mind it taking a long time to get my relic weapon, but over 4 hours of level 4 fates isn't entertaining or fun :<

Shame the weapon will just remind me of farming fates now - not doing cool fights

This patch, with the quests being so utterly poorly thought out, and the main scenario being so dull - running back and forth for about an hour just to get to Leviathan?

Most of all, the Relic upgrading quest. This is a HORRIFIC piece of bad design. I want to upgrade my relic, but this quest is a joke so unfunny that it makes me openly hostile towards the game.

You need to increase the drop rates of Atma pieces, at the VERY least. At the moment, I'm contemplating just giving up on the game for a while and seeing if a drop in subs will change your minds.

given the fact of emergency maintenance in 40min, I wouldn't be surprised if they tweak the fate drops. every single time they put anything in a fate, it never works the first two days, lol

that and hopefully (but unlikely) they will tweak the myth drops, since they suck, but who knows?

As for the atma farming, yea it sucks to do the fates, but hoping the next stage isn't as stupid

Yeah, but in FFXI you were doing it for the best weapon BY FAR, the relic for this game is just ilvl100 and you can get other ilvl100 and 115 from other means.

Not bothered really about the quest, just you seriously can't compare the two.

The options are: Upgrade your relic to from ilvl90 to ilvl100 by grinding boring FATEs until your eyes fall out -OR- get any of the other new and vastly SUPERIOR weapons at lvl 100, 110, and 115 by doing real and serious endgame content. ** I can't believe this is even debatable.

The zodiac path is just an alternate path for soloists and casual players who don't have the time to dedicate to an endgame linkshell and likely will never get into the latest coil parties... If you think it takes too long to get it, then the content wasn't designed for you. (That, or you should be out grinding fates instead of whining on the forums lol)


Besides, as a FFXI veteran, I'm glad this game finally has serious barriers to gaining endgame items - even if they use FATE RNG to do it.

Zantetsuken doesn't really seem to get the point. Don't tell people what stuff was and wasn't designed for. You don't know and we don't know as we haven't been told. All we know is that the Zodiac weapons were meant to be upgraded over time.

You come across as someone who suffers from "But I raid all the hard stuff and he gets gear almost as good" syndrome.

What does it matter? If you just raid hard stuff for the loot, then perhaps you're the one who need to look at gating your own progression, because you sound like a spoiled child.

I'm not sure they are trying to keep people playing this game or away, steal the kill from those low level players FATE, stay on the same map hours and hours and you don't even know when it's going to drop or never, people want some funny stuff, not this type of boring content, I smell the same developing strategy like Old FFXIV, I really hoping your not going to re-reborn if your developer starting developing the game toward this direction. Player like to have New Area to explore New Area to adventure, we already done so much FATE on those same looking map when we leveling 1-50, now you want us done the same thing again? if you want people keep paying you monthly fee you should provide more funning exciting content not this type boring FATE over and over again... .....
