People are loving this patch; we need to be more vocal.

SE responds fairly accurately to what the player opinion is. They likely expected a knee-jerk reaction (which will cushion the impact) but all these players QQing will do some amount of damage to a great patch.

Honestly, you can get your Atma weapon in a day grinding, depending on your luck. I am at 8 right now, and had time to do a chunk of the new dungeons too. After that, you can get your Anima weapon for 13.5k myths. That is NOT by any means a large amount of myths for a legendary weapon. If you have a friend or two to run dungeons with for faster queues, you can get it done within 70-90 hours. That really is not that much at all; easily done within 2 weeks max.

Now, I won't talk about the rest of the new content; mostly because most of the negativity is about having to actually grind and spend a chunk of hours to get an item.

EDIT: But seriously, Lost City is fantastic, the new hard modes are at least par too.

Actually...the one thing that aggravates me is I have to catch a titanic sawfish....blah.

Halitali and brayfox are ok, got about as much as I can hope from them. But amdapor is breathtaking....really amazing. Awesome mechanic on diablo too, teleporting between doors...pretty creative xD

Oh we got gears and all that junk too, which idgaf about too much really.

I am loving the patch, but I hate RNGesus. You seem to be blessed by RNGesus - I've seem to be archenemies with him. 0 Atma drops in 4 hours of FATE grinding - its quite literally a waste of time for me, and with no respite to see at all. I could have been doing dungeons. The main scenario quests. WHy didn't I? For the small chance I will progress. But no, I don't even have that satisfaction. Can you understand why some people are feeling bitter already?

I'm not asking it to. However...I have absolutely zero progression in the quest in the hours dedicated to it, due to a mechanic outside of my control; RNG. That's a bit of a downer on my initial excitement, especially since I already have a vendetta against the RNG (turn 1 healer gloves...).

Right now, I've put the Zodiac quest aside and starting Main Scenario Quests, and I'm liking them.

Leviathan EX has been kicking my ass the few attempts I've had so far. Getting it down more and it's a pretty fun fight.

I really like what they're doing with Revenant's Toll. I wonder what their ultimate plans are for it? Will it become something akin to Jeuno? Or just stay in the same general area with bigger structures? Or perhaps instead of expanding outward, it would expand upward and become a city within a huge tower? That would be cool!

What is with this phrase popping up all over the place? Almost never used correctly by the way. What about 4 hours of work screams "lazy bum just wants stuff handed to him"?

I haven't logged in yet since I'm at work, so I can't comment on whether I do/don't mind the grind, but seeing this phrase just irks me, even if I think some grinds are justified. Almost NO ONE is asking to do zero work for reward. Most of the people who complain are just the unlucky few who lie at the bottom of the RNG curve and those people will ALWAYS exist, that is just how statistics work. Unfortunately, because the system works for fine for 90% of everyone else and fantastically for an additional 5%, it's unlikely to change.

People are complaining that they don't already have everything?

The patch is hardly half a day old! What the hell?!

On my 'OMG' Scale of Awesome.. this exceeded expectations, but is, at best lukewarm.
2.1 racked in as a disappointment for 3/10 on the board, pissing people off, being completed within a week, and the assinine Housing prices.

I downgraded appropriately and weighed my expectations for 2.2 at around 4/10, with room for continued disappointment on the scale of the 2.1 'ick'. The general score I'm seeing right now is about a 5/10, where things are done right for a change, but nowhere close to pant-drop excitement. Establishing a program for long-term progression is a double-edged sword, damping day-one excitement, but being a generally good design decision to wean people off the instant-gratification train.

But anyways I guess people enjoying are just playing, and I am sure Se knows the difference between the "active" voices on forums and actual people in game.
I am looking forward, soon back home and able to enjoy the game, very excited by the patch so much to do :)

I`d love the patch if after hours of trying to update it on my launcher it would actually succeed in patching.... error version check... error version check.... good grief!

I only played for 10 mins before work, but the sheer amount i stuff added will keep me logging in until 2.3 for sure. I am EXCITE!

-Leviathan (hard) seems to be a mere speed-bump better served by removing the (hard) tag and actually creating a genuine challenge instead
-New crafting recipes are nothing short of mind-bogglingly over-engineered, and rely heavily on overpriced NPC-sourced items
-Turns 6-9 will assume the new 'niche' content for endgame raiders, and is just a lateral move from turns 1-5.
-Deprecation of i55-i70 gear as i80+ gear becomes the new L50 baseline score. Deprecating existing content is never a good decision, as it wastes past development efforts.
-Glamours. Fabulous addition that was an industry staple for more than five years. So nice to see SE catching up to the last-decade train.
-Weaning of instant-gratification for progression beyond i80. Better now than never. Let the 'hardcore' tears rain as they realize it's going to be untrod territory for weeks, the rest of us are just in it for the fun
-Philo exchange rate met realistic, not optimistic expectations.

Loving it? I have 81 days left on my sub and all I've been doing since 2.2 went live is try to figure out a way to suspend it. As a tank who loved crafted accs for the ability to let me deal solid damage without losing mitigation this update took the wind out of my sails by not releasing i90 crafted accs. Coil gives so few tomes of both myth now and soldiery that the only reason to do 1-5 is for allagan drops which are now as good as welfare gear, HM versions of dungeons don't interest me at all, and th zodiac weapons are a huge waste of time considering you can get an equivalent weapon from doing 1 fight.

I like the new storyline. I wish there were more kill stuff quests instead of so much go here quests, but the story is good. I haven't had a chance to get to new dungeons yet but seeing the reactions, I am excited for the new hard modes and Lost City.

Most seem to hate the new relic quest, but I am glad there is something always in the background I can work on over the next few weeks. Glad it's not the only way to get good weapons as well.

Played for an hour this morning and was already rewarded with finding out what a sexy kobold lady looks like. A++

Forgot to mention that all new crafted i90s are pretty much a waste of time. The amount of effort, gil, time and jobs needed to create an HQi90 piece doesn't equal the worth you would get out of it.

Wait a few weeks.. player will have everything capped and hate it. (except lockouts of course :P -> Tuesday/Wednesday game)

in addition, people are complaining about the animas dropping via FATES. I personally like this a lot. not because I like fates but it GETS PEOPLE OUT INTO THE WORLD which is what a lot of people complained about. I like it even more because SE took one of there existing game systems, and used it to give people what they want. Good job out of them. Is it perfect? no, but we have options which is what people wanted in the first place.

If there's one thing i've learned about people, it's this:

People will bitch about SOMETHING at any possible time.

You will never ever make people happy. Won't happen. Just do what you can and hope for the best.

That they wanted a reason to be in zones other than Cities? lol. So you didn't get all your Atma's in 2 hours? Tough luck. If you did, it'd be, "its too easy" "nothing to do." Threads all over again. haha.

I won't complain about the direction, but I would complain about the methodology. FATE's are pretty low-grade, not-happy content that can come and go as fast as people can zerg them, but it's the best vehicle for 'get the f*** out of town and stab things' that doesn't involve party queues and dead-horse dungeons.

They would have been better off being larger, tougher, rarer FATE's like Odin that would at least get your average L50 hopeful into high gear on hearing that it's 'up'.

A strange conundrum.

People wanted reasons to be out in the open world, and many used things like NMs that would spawn and have a chance of dropping something unique.

What they got were a questline involving FATEs which, you guessed it, spawn with a chance of dropping something unique.

I personally feel the main reason why people are complaining is because it was a FATE and not a NM.

I haven't played it yet today (work day begins at 5am) but I look forward to the Zodiac grind. Will let me actually use my conjurer for something other than duty roulette ^_^

Yeah, but I can sympathize, because it does feel a bit lazy. These are varying level fates, that have a small chance of dropping an Atma. Most people don't like the idea of riding out and then syncing to lvl 3 fates. haha. Can't say I enjoy it myself, but I managed to pick up 3 Atma's just stopping to do fates while trying to unlock leviathan.

there's nothing unique about Atmas.

I haven't been able to do much yet. Just unlocked a few things and started on the main story. Hope to get through the main story tonight and start working on some of the side stuff. (dailies, roulettes)

I am enjoying what I've seen of the main story so far though.

I am loving the new content of Fate grinding old fates.

Feels like I'm leveling again, just without the xp.

I'm looking forward to trying all the new content. And I like the fact that I can't possibly expect to get through any of the grindy stuff quickly. It takes a lot of self-induced pressure off. 2.1 had me in this uncomfortable spot where I always had just enough time in a week to cap myth and get in a couple XM attempts or do other stuff, so I felt like I was slacking regardless of what I chose to do. 2.2 looks like it's putting stuff sufficiently out of reach that I won't feel like there's anything in particular I just have to do.

Maybe I'm the only one amazed by this, but since the patch went live you've completed all of the 2.2 story and started fighting Leviathan EX with other people who also rushed through the story in a matter of hours!? Damn, I don't expect to be up to that fight for at least a couple weeks, lol.

You realize thats playing the game almost 8 hours a day.. thats a full time job playing the game.. what kind of world are you living in?

lets not pretend that people don't do that. There are people in my FC that are on at least 12 hours a day. On some weekends (even with a full work schedule, a family, and active social life) I can pull 10 hours on a saturday easily.
