Master Crafting - Having to Re-Meld Gear?

So correct me if I am wrong but I just unlocked the Master Crafting recipes for Weaver and the following stats are the minimum requirements:

Craftmanship: 391
Control: 374

Now with current gear, the new Weapon (139 Craft and 78 Control) and Head (3 CP, 4 Craft and 39 Control) will easily take Craftmanship up to the requirement but will still leave Control quite far from just the requirement.

So am I wrong in assuming new melds are going to be needed to not only reach the requirement but getting even a slight chance at HQ (no way we are getting 100% like now). Anyone have any thoughts?

Well, a slight chance at HQ if we're using all-NQ mats. I don't think it's entirely a bad thing if we have to actually have to go get HQ mats to HQ the recipe.

That is true, might be nice for a change. I am just upset that even though they only released two items (neither of which are meldable) I am still going to have to re-meld any of my level 50 crafting classes just in order to be able to craft it NQ.

How did you do your melds? I thought there was only one way to do them (cap everything, off-hand is the only variation). I'm at 386/374 so I'm hitting the control requirement but not the craftsmanship.

Is that how your current gear is melded?! I only melded mine to 357 Craft and 344 Control in order to get 100% HQ on current 2 Star items. You did some crazy melding if that is what yours is at without the new gear.

Everything is overmelded to caps except off-hand (which is only +4 Control, no overmelds). I could overmeld +6 craft to it but it's a pain.

Yeah... something seems a bit off...
No new crafting gear... well, barely any new crafting gear, and a massive jump in recipe difficulty.
I can understand wanting us to want to start with HQ components to get HQ results... but this is... just a wee bit much no?

I realized if I eat food (duh) then I can get up to the requirements in order to make them NQ. So I guess that will have to due for the mean time. Anyways, can I ask where you got your cookie cutter melding guide at? I would like to compare to my own currently to make any adjustments if I need to.

Also, I don't suppose you would share with me your rotation you used in which you were able to get the new 2 star item HQ'd would you? At the rate I am going I am going to make a thousand before I get the 50 HQ! Haha!

And I may have cheated and used HQ mats (I stockpiled during 2.1).

Edit: False alarm, I derped and missed 5 craft on my body piece. Full overmelds minus off-hand gives you the exact minimums for 3 stars.

It's kind of ridiculous. People on coeurl arent even really trying them. It's insanely hard to do. You need so much skill you have to be max melded, with amazing food, other level 50 skills, and hq materials just to MAYBE HQ something. I posted elsewhere about how they should lower requirements. Materia isnt cheal everywhere. Some of the stuff i need is 50k for one. I could potentially lose over 500k just trying to over meld to one spot. I thi k it should be about 375 crafts and 360 control. Would still be hard to get to, but possible.

I'm thinking that this might just be the reason they made spirit binding faster.

Make your Patrician's gear, bind and break it into crafting materia in order to spend time rather than money on the overmelding.

Anyone consider the thought that, maybe, it is deliberate on SE's part to move away from the "100% HQ, NQ mats" rut we were stuck in? To add a bit of RNG to the process? To make it so that preformulated crafting procedures that almost totally ignore material conditions are less likely to get the job done, compared to a crafter that carefully observes conditions and changes the formula based on what comes up?

I think this is SE's response to crafters complaining that there's no market. With every crafter in the game HQing everything all the time, of COURSE there'd be no market. Now that even the best crafters can only manage a HQ on occasion, and only when that crafter pays careful attention to the process rather than just mashing a series of macros, those HQ items become a hot commodity.

I do think it was a little dickish for them to base three star materials entirely around someone having max-overmeld gear, which means a lot of crafters now have to RE-meld in order to meet this new threshold in a spiked market.

The item requirements to advance into Master crafts are pretty extreme to begin with, as was the pricing of philomats into GC seals. The new three star requirements are just adding despair to misery while barely offering crafters any way to generally improve their gear without dumping half a million or more on materia gambling.

I think its kinda funny...... Yoshi wants crafting to be a stepping stone for the better gear, so he makes us spend half a million on melding just to give equipment for free later on.....

Is the gear even that much better? as I understand it the new 3 star gear is ilvl 90 anyway, which any shmuck can get spamming instances for Myth. so other than the look, whats the point?

I compared the one piece I have the recipe for and the matching myth piece for (looked at HQ version on Lodestone). The main stats (defense, magic defense, and pri stats) are the same, but the secondary stats were somewhat different.

What's the point? Being better able to min/max. As you work towards higher ilevel gear.

The rule of thumb for stats within ilevel is from highest to lowest: Pink (High end) > HQ Melded = Melded Green > Green/Blue = HQ Unmelded > Pink (Low end) > NQ.

Scholars may want HQ Saurian Gloves of Healing, Saurian Boots of Healing and Gold Spectacles for their Crit Rate even unmelded. With normal melds they are even better.

HQ Saurian Gloves of Healing with 2 Piety IV are +11 Determination, +6 Crit Rate, -4 Piety over Allagan for Scholar.
HQ Saurian Boots of healing with 2 Piety IV are -4 Piety and +21 Crit Rate over AF2 for Scholar.
HQ Gold Spectacles with 2 Savage Might IV are -3 Determination and +21 Crit Rate over Allagan/AF2 for Scholar.

That is a +48 Crit Rate, -8 Piety, +8 Determination without overmelds.

Can't speak for the others, but the crafted robe for healers is better than the myth robe for WHM. All the stats are the same but you trade 26 Piety for 24 Determination. Just meld piety or crit and it's way better.
