New Achievements, none of our past dungeons count

I'm a little shocked to find that the with the new achievements that none of our past runs count towards it. For those that have been playing tanks since launch I find this a bit of a slap in the face overall.

I just want to know is it just me, or do others feel the same?

Hardcores should be delighted. More mindless grind for them.

It's there to bring more tanks in...does having it auto-complete on log in not seem odd to you?

I don't really see how it could be a slap in the face for SE to not have been tracking this the whole time, unless you're suggesting they should have made the achievement something that they were already tracking (if anything).

This was something they hadn't really anticipated early on, so the DB was probably not set to store that kind of data. The less queries to the DB, the better, so it makes sense why they wouldn't do this at launch.

I find the fact that achievements are still broken in general a slap to the face. New achievements not being retroactive is fine. I played a tank this whole time as a main and I continue to do so.

"for those who have been doing all along" it was something along those lines that would make you think it would be retroactive..

In the live stream that they did, they mentioned the new mounts, and they also said they wanted to thank the tanks who had been tanking for the community. Naturally I thought they had been tracking progress for us.

I am heartbroken.

The problem I have is that they set an expectation in many players minds (yes when I watched the live stream I was left with the same impression that is was a thank you for older tanks and a carrot for newer tanks), and the reality is different.
Sidenote: This is the same as when the patch notes say that GC cost for a mat is 1500 seals and in game it is 2500 seals.

... because the fact that tanks can get a pretty sweet mount that other jobs cant is not enough ...

Hi, just for a little context, I've played a Warrior as primary class since 2.0 beta.

People complaining about past actions not being counted: Are you stupid? If developers previously wanted to track who has done what on what class and reward certain ones, the mount or whatever would have been available in earlier release. So point #1: It is literally impossible.

And for point #2, let's pretend it was somehow possible. That somehow SE has just databases full of details of everything that has ever happened. Tanks are getting a reward not available to everyone else. Be happy. We got a gift. A gift to which in no way were entitled. Complaints like this sound like a spoiled baby getting delicious candy and crying for a different flavor.

you mean sound like spoiled babies getting delicious candy but told they cant eat it until they clean their rooms, when they already cleaned their room so the parent goes back into the room and messes it up again and tells them to clean it again before they can have it.

Clean it again, 200 times.. Meanwhile random kids can enter your room and poop all over the walls while standing in t1 tailswipes.

Nice how healers got their mount handed to them in a level 30 quest.

^ This. I never bother with riding any of my other mounts other than my Legacy Chocobo and occasionally my magitek armour (because, you know, it's from FFVI, and FFVI is the greatest FF game of all time next to XIV of course. ;)), so I couldn't really care too much about the bear/lion mounts. This is a FF game - I want to ride an FF themed mount, not some random animal gimmick mount meant to appeal to the general public. But that's just me.

And just to be clear, these can only be earned through EX primals and Coil Set 2 right?

Yup was already down this road before when they first introduced Achievements for Gathering and Crafting in 1.0.

Meh only thing i dislike that the only dungeons that count are the EX, now i'll be honest i haven't really did that many of those yet and i'm not planning to run those a few hundered times just for a achievement :P

And it only applys to ex primals and coil which will not improve the Q time in regular DF. When most players say "there are not enough tanks" they mean not enough for most DF quests which are 4-man and non-ex 8-man...SE got the message wrong.

I have no problem running EX or coils to get my mount, I'm just confused on how this solves the tank shortage problem :P

I think its to force a rush to 50 for current tanks and keep existing tanks out of dungeons. That way we either all stop doing dungeons entirely or some of us switch to tanks and make life miserable for each other to an even greater degree.

I'm as tanking-is-my-main as they come. I have tanked every attempt of coil since launch. Conservatively, I have tanked, as pld, 30 weeks of 1-4, ten weeks of 5 and the token quest every week, so let's say nine weeks. 127 8mans as pld. God knows how many farm runs.

Pre 2.2, I had i90 with Allagan both pld and war. I have tanked every dungeon from cm spam to Titan hard relic progression to WP speed runs for everyone cus most tanks couldn't hack it at first to solo tank/stun Twintania. And now you want me to spam old content no one needs?

At least make it so low level dungeons and 4mans count. People need tanks in their groups to level and to earn stones, not for marginal side grades on gear 20 ilvls too low (1-4 & GTI Ex).

Make it so I have to be 50 to earn credit, but any dungeon counts. I would love to have a reason to tank sastasha for those poor dps trying to level up who are stuck in queue.

Any 800 dungeons as pld 50. At least I'd be helping people who NEED tanks.

I think the dungeons that count should be increased to cover all level 50 stuff probably excluding CT because it's kind of too easy even for pugs. Low level dungeons should have a different achievement with different reward.

They also should increase the number required, but make it so harder dungeons increases the progress faster. Maybe ifrit hm gives out 1 point, titan hm 2, ex primals 3 with titan ex giving out 4. High level and expert dungeons should give out 2.
