Zodiac weapons acquisition

So, the new weapons have a Atma suffix as opposed to Zenith... If we are to speculate, perhaps we will have to face Atma weapon? Many of you FF hardcore gamers know who Atma weapon was...What really gets me curious is the fact these are called "Zodiac Weapons" as in the Zodiac, as in 12 signs and looking at the patch notes there are 12 Atma drops each one related to a Zodiac sign...There are 9 jobs in the game.. There are 3 Zodiac drops more than jobs.. Are we going to be required to gather all 12 drops for 1 weapon? Or are we been hinted something out there? Before we shut down the second speculation, remember how prior to FFXIV 2.0 being launched, the Scholar was hinted with an image before SE confirmed it.

I really really want you to be right about 3 new jobs however it is probably just that you need all 12 per one weapon, ya know Zodiak weapon so you need the whole Zodiak.

I remember my first time fighting Atma weapon. Died like 10 times before I finally beat him. The music was super cool during that fight.

wasn't there a trick/exploit to fighting atma weapon? Like cast invisible on him and send him to the x-zone or something?

It looks really like a neat concept. Isn't there more than one path as well? So perhaps you could tweak your weapon to the kind that you want. (like say if you wanted one with more hit or something)

I hope it takes a while to complete. When I played the game at launch, the relic questline was kind of a downer. Even back before people knew exactly how Titan HM worked, it maybe took me a week to get some competent people to do it with me? So here I am, like one week into 50 and I already had the best weapon in the game pretty much. I'm not even a very good player, I was the last of all of my friends that started the game with me to get to 50. I like taking my time. I don't like to spend all day logged in. But still, a week was way too fast. It was like four months before I would get any weapon that was better.

Getting the best weapons in some of the other Final Fantasy single player games took longer! :p It's the journey not the destination!

Technically We already did fight him. Atma Weapon is Ultima Weapon, There was a translation error. But its not like they couldn't add it......

Pretty sure the Atmas are more of a reference to FFXI since they were obtained in a similar way (defeating high level monsters) and while they weren't applied to weapons in XI they were applied to your character in certain zones (had a capacity to equip 3 at a time). Seems like they'll be used for weapons this time around in FFXIV along with a nice touch of mixing it with a reference to FFT's lore of the Zodiac Braves. Really nice to see them reuse the name Atma of the Lion though since it dropped off a Elsamoth (Behemoth variant) in FFXI named Hadhayosh. Doubt that means anything as far as what drops it in FFXIV though.

I just hope there's no need to proc Red for these Atmas to drop lol.

I'm pretty pleased that the FFT Zodiac Brave story is linked to this quest, (far east legend of the Zodiac Braves). Does this wildly confirm that Eorzea and Ivalice share the same planet/universe? I know i read somewhere that Yoshi wanted to have many elements from FFT/FFTA installed into XIV. Id be nice if there was a direct connection even if the timelines are completely far apart.

I'm not sure there is a direct connection could be like Eorzea and Vana'diel and they occupy parallel universes/dimensions or whatever was mentioned in the FFXI crossover FATE quest or it could simply be the result of them drawing inspiration from previous games that FFXI didn't really draw from (but in a manner similar to how FFXI drew inspiration from other previous FFs).

As far as I know the only FFs that have any connection with each other are: FFIII IV V and VI connected to each other via FFIV:The After Years (unless the implications of the final boss as well as the penultimate boss encounters aren't meant to be taken seriously but it looks like it's supposed to be); the FFX series and its tangential connection to FFVII as well as FFXIII series connected to itself. In addition there are the Ivalice Alliance games and one could also argue Vagrant story being counted amongst them although I think Vagrant Story only made some passing references to FFT (unfortunately I never played it).

He died when his MP ran out and Rasp and Osmose did a number on that.

Also Vagrant story is connected to the Ivalice games... cause it takes place in Ivalice.

Judging by information that is out there...
1) First you have to obtain the Relic Atma weapon... and for that you need to complete 12 FATEs spread out over the world...
2) When you have obtained the Relic Atma, you can start buying the books mentioned...
Each book costs 1500 myth tomes...
Four books is available now, with more added later (2.25, 2.3)
Each book contains objectives that need to be completed
You can only have one book at a time...
