Anyways people who complain about retainers giving an advance due to ventures... while nothing has been confirm so far either way, I suspect the special tokens you need to send your retainers on ventures will be a lot more limiting factor than anything else.

Are you seriously leaving spaces on your retainer for where the things you don't have would go? This isn't a card binder where when you get the next ultra-rare you need to physically move everything else.

AF gear and seasonal gear can be placed in your inn armory chest for more room.

Yeah, that's what I do too :). We are getting a third retainer for free in the patch, I think I can work with three retainers.

Better than the people who complain about inventory issues because they horde every marmot pelt, walnut, rock and stick they can get their hands on.

I keep them as set, I dont like the sort system so I make my own. But doesnt really make much different since the item will be in the slot anyway.

exactly, you cant store primal weps any where but retainer ! and the weapons are the thing take most of the collection slots. And we had ask for that back in 1.0 and nothing happen in 2.0

definitely not pay extra 2 backs for extra storage space in subscription game - the bad i was charged my subscription 2 days before notice about 3th retainer is not include in subscription fee`s... if this not change i am 100% positive to left ARR

All crafts and gathering lvl 50 (leveled with very few use of leves) - using now 2 retainers and 150 slots in Company Chest (600 slots total) and still have to passing a lot stuff to my 7 alt characters in my FC.

I prefer left now before more cheated in future. Still plan to try 2.2 content, haved pay for it... ya.

The base subscription fee is not increasing.

I have a similar retainer full of gear just from collecting stuff, still missing the moogle books and BLM staff. Honestly I'd just convert everything to materia if we still could like we did in 1.X, at least with primal weapons.

Because this is an optional service.
It's not providing any advantage to the gameplay. (Un-like your strange Armoury System comparison would)
It's not gating you from any of the in-game content. (By gating I mean, "Pay $2 to access this part of the game!")

It's there as an; "Oh you want more space for items...well you're going to pay per-month for the extra data then"
Seeing as Retainers will be MUCH more valuable come 2.2 with Retainer Ventures this is one of the many reasons why you're going to pay for it.

Paying for Extra Storage is perfectly normal.

This is an optional service.
This is a game here to make money.
You don't HAVE to pay for it, that's why it's OPTIONAL.
Anyone who buys this won't be getting any real advantage to the game beside being able to horde more items.

2.
Your 'lag/disconnection' problems are almost always an issue between You > ISP > Montreal (Where the servers are located).
I play in Europe, I have friends playing in Australia who have no lag issues. STOP immediatley pinning the blame on Square Enix, when it's most likely a node between You > Them causing the issue.

Unless the vast majority are having connection issues, it's not their fault.

Your subscription pays for;
The saved data you keep on the server. (A lot of players can eat this data up fast, hence why extra retainers will have a fee for the extra stress)
The bandwidth of data you transfer between you > server > you (This gets expensive rather quickly)
Game Development. (Patches 2.2 > 2.3 > Expansion are ALL being developed with your subscription, that's what keeps the game going)

Most people that play P2P games are used to get more in-game storage space by paying with in-game currency. Paying real money for that is part of F2P games. Not to mention that EVEN F2P games charge you for it JUST ONCE, not monthly. So yes, defending it once they inform themselves and ask me about it would make me look stupid, not the other way around.

It gets as optional as paying to unlock more slots on the armory system, regardless of if you like it or not.

This is a game that gets money through subscriptions. Square-Enix is not a charity, so I'm sure that they get enough profits from subs (or should, if they're competent). Charging for any other in-game feature just tells us two things: either they failed with their original pricing and don't know a thing about economics, or they're simply greedy and want to nickel and dime their subscriber base.

Even if you ignore all that, getting more retainers gets as optional as how many new items they keep introducing with each patch (and how well the armoire keeps working...). Eventually you'll feel the need for them.

People with four retainers will have more chances to get more rare items only available through ventures, and will potentially get more money than someone with just two. That over there is an advantage over people that don't pay.

I don't lag a lot or get disconnected, luckily. However, I know that my connection would be better with proper EU servers, and that it would inherently help with the issues that other players are experiencing (even those that have to PAY for tunneling software). It all falls on Square-Enix decision to put the servers across the pond, specially with how they designed the client-server protocol, and players shouldn't have to go through the hurdle of losing time with their ISP and whatever for a single game that they're having problems with. Moreover, the issues on mondays affect everyone, and have yet to be resolved (somehow I doubt that they're going to be resolved with the upcoming maintenance, if not made worse).

I also love how you ignored all the Level3 issues when talking about nodes.

My subscription pays for a service. They pay what they must with it, but it's not what I'm actually paying. What I'm paying is a service that should work properly and that I should feel that it's worth what I'm paying. The moment it stops feeling that way, I'll simply stop paying. So we have two things there: they have to get money, but at the same time they have to keep their customers happy (they seem to be aware about this, from their talks). And the same time, their customers have the responsability of voicing their opinions when they don't like something so that they can react in time before they start losing them.

And yes, behind the scenes, our subscription pays for everything that you mentioned. However, that doesn't mean that they can try to lock much requested features behind a pay wall in a P2P MMO and that we have to accept it disregarding the fact that they're actually making profits from said subs. Profits that should be enough to not having to pay for two retainers that would cost them 0.001$ at most. So I, and many others it seems, start to have the feeling that our subs aren't good enough for them. I'm a customer, not their friend, and I want to be treated fairly.

Also, regarding data costs, eventually keeping and transfering the same data will cost them way less than it does now. Will they reduce our subs when that happens?

Heres a really quick fix to the people complaining they dont have enough space.

Stop hoarding gear/1gil items/put things in the armory.

Seriously are you really ever going to use that lvl 34 axe ever again? Even as vanity?

When my second tank was higher than brayflox armor I simply traded it in for seals.

With my main account having all 50's I have a completely empty retainer with like 2 pages of just junk because im lazy. The other houses darklight ct and myth/allagan gear for all my classes. Also all the primal weapons and relics. I seriously dont know how people "need" more room.

Oh I know crafting mats take a lot of room as a cooker. Believe me. But then again. There are also those poeple that have mats just to have mats that they maybe might use one day. But then again. You could I dunno just craft the mats into things? Then oh look space.

I crafted one of every housing item in the game (close to 300.) Have 30 cans of every color dye. All of the fishing bait / lures / two-star fish (that may someday be used.) All of the ingredients needed to craft any two-star item I need at whim. The level 90 gear of various jobs I can't use yet. All of the primal / trial collectables. Vanity gear etc.

I couldn't fit it all in two retainers and a Free Company chest; so I had to use a mule and both of its retainers are nearly full now as well. I need more room =P

I am sure this is a common theme for players.
I don't even craft full time since but have been working on leveling my DoW and DoM. I was in the same boat. All retainers filled, armoury maxed and armoire full. One retainer is maxed with nothing but crafting mats. If it wasn't for the fact I now intend on Plvling my crafts through the MB and leves, I would be screwed. Even if I did craft, I would have had nowhere to put the crafted item.

If you're a collector, which this game has plenty to collect for vanity purposes (god knows how insane this will be come 2.2 also)... then you desperately need a third retainer.

Three will do, I think 3 needs to be the new baseline/default.

Can't store darklight. I have been tossing darklight for space. I don't want to toss primal weapons, though, and am irritated by what actually CAN be stored at inn armory.

You could have just made the first post say "Fishing supplies"

We need a third retainer. This is a subscription game. We shouldn't have to pay EUR/USD/GBP for it. Make it free or gil.

people seem to forget that each large patch allows more stuff to be put into the armoire.

Anyway, the easy answer is to dump/stop hoarding all that unnecessary stuff. Turn it in for GC seals, vendor it* or toss it.
*In the early days, I used to hold on to mats I might use. However, with the way the economy was going, it was better in the long run for many items to vendor it early and buy back later. You can even make gil in some cases as the item may have dropped below vendor sale value on MB.

However, for those who somehow manage to fill 350 slots on their retainers, I agree that additional storage (not a retainer) should be purchased with gil or even a gobbie bag type quest, rather than real money. An additional retainer (due to the ventures, whatever) should be optional with real money--akin to mules, etc. of ffxi.

Of course, SE could say "Screw you, we'll just make more cowls / tin cans to save you an armor slot!"

So you are a hoarder OP, its ok you can pay $2 soon and solve your problem.

Just out of curiosity, how much gil do you have? I've always wondered how lucrative it was to play the game like this. To me Hoarding = Currency. Being a Builder of the Realm/Provider of the Realm you increase your value as an Artisan by selling gear/items to players at a discount with "No matts required".

That being said. I always keep stock of crafting materials (which fill up quickly). 1 Retainer is purely Food items/Materia. The other Retainer is purely Ore/Wood/Cloth/Leathers and my FC Chest has 3 pages full of Farmed/Gathered materials. More retainers could not have come any sooner imo.

Sitting on 4M and i will be purchasing 4 more retainers on Day 1.

They added crafting tools which I use every week - makes no sense. Some things can't be exchanged for company seals and even if they could, seals are capped or just about capped.

And as for crafting items. I only purchase items when I run out. Not gonna purchase 99 of the one item I need every time I craft.

And I agree with Butta. That is what I do too.

um can't you stick most of that stuff in armorer in mog house cause I am pretty sure you can.
