No more shards from maps/beast tribe quests...

Why on earth would they change this?

As someone with all crafting/gathering classes leveled, these sources of shards were a godsend. They eliminated 80% of the shards I needed to gather for my day to day crafting.

Now I have to go back to either spending hours a week gathering or buy them from the message board which I don\\\\'t like to do since most are gathered by bots.

Please let us keep our shard rewards SE, taking them away just gives more people a reason to bot.

How about taking out the PvP feather ingrienient award, that\\'s something that would be better off harvested. Removing the shards benefits no one but the bots.

I guess, so people have to gather or buy them but that would benefit those utilizing bots more than anyone. :c
But you will get "Ventures" instead. Is that the thing you use to send your Retainer on gathering / hunting missions? Can they gather shards too?

I suppose they'll give the option to send your retainer out to snag them, but sending them out repeatedly for lv.1 items will hinder their leveling and any chance of them procuring rare/unique items.

It's sad that my only option to giving my in-game money to bots is to either spend hours a week gathering or forsake efficient leveling of my retainers.

Where does it says shards have been removed from maps? The patch notes say they were removed from beastman quests, but nothing about them being removed from maps. The shard rewards from beastman quests were piddling at best, so that's not really much of a loss if it's just them.

Man... everything about 2.2 is disappointing besides the actual new content.

I imagine they just saw too many shards going into the economy because of treasure maps and that it was causing them to be devalued similar to what bots were doing and want to bump up their value a bit because reasons.

I agree. You know how much shards costs in my server?
Right now 80gil for Water, Lightning, Wind and Ice Shards, 70 for Earth and 50 something for Fire. WTF is going on? Who sets up the price so high, it was 30-40gil a few days ago, now it's so expensive and I've noticed that the same retainer is selling a lot of it in different section.
I spent over 3 hours the other day farming for shards, I refuse to buy it for that price!

I agree. They should remove Eagle Feather from the treasure map instead of shards.. I seem to be getting that crap in every single map! There's not a lot of "rare" drops imo... gold boar maps, I still get crap. I haven't seen any minion drops and I've done over 20-30 maps

The only thing keeping shard costs under control are the RMT botters. The normal player base simply can't meet the demand for shard production.

I hate to say it, but despite the bad rap, they're doing the rest of us a service by dumping tens of thousands of shards out into the market.

Hopefully retainers will gather greater quanities the higher level they get, but i see how that could be abused :( your right let us keep our map and tribe shards

Do Fieldcraft leves. They give 18-60 shards at a time (usually 60) and gil and don't take long to complete. (Speaking of the level 45 leves in Mor Dhona) Also, I usually seem to get 80-160 shards or something like that in my maps.

bots keep shards at 12-25 gil max on diablos. i wait till they drop to 5-8 gil each and stock up. if they're worried about the economy they should get rid of the bots instead of making us reliant on them. but if they did get rid of bots i could see them leveling off at 150-200 per wich would force us all to farm them when we needed them. keep the bots please i'm lazy and would rather buy them.

Just an update to reiterate what I said before, and now know is, in fact, still true: You still get shards from treasure maps (all maps, I checked). It's only beastman quests that no longer give shards.
