I'm sorry but does anyone with a medium and large FC house feel a bit unfair about this 2.2 change?

-The maximum number of furnishings for a small house has been increased from 50 to 100.

And then we get this excuse from the Live Letter:

Q29: Will you be increasing the number of furnishings you can place inside and outside of houses?

A29: While it’s not difficult to raise the cap on furnishings, we expect this to increase stress on the server and this will affect the release of personal housing, so please give us a bit before we increase cap.


So we pay 20 to 50 million gil more, and only get 100 more slots...that seems right.

You pay more money but you don't have to live in a tent.

I don't see the problem.

They're adjusting the small house size to make it more pleasant (as its currently horrible to use your camera in) and adding a basement, so the adjustment is reasonable based on the new floor level being added.

Yeah and dat massive e-peen for your whole company to wave at the plebs.

At least be happy they're providing more room for small houses.

The small house adjustment was mainly added so small houses could have a basement so they could have the space to build an airship later on.
As for the 50 slots... isnt that much of a issue but main issue is large houses are actually too big for 200 slot limit. The game just needs larger furnishings that take up more actual space then slot space. Game doesn't really need anymore useless furnishings that dont actually do anything for actually having them in your house.

Small houses are getting their floor space doubled so it makes sense to double their furnishing capacity.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that any crafting workshops for things like building airships would be below the lowest floors for all houses and not take up any of the current usable space.

This. I was already 50/50 just on the first floor. When they said they were adding basements I was getting ready to just wall the basement off until they someday increased the limit. No point adding a basement if you can't furnish it.

There's still little incentive to actually go to the living areas.

Actually, the game needs more items of a variety of types. I may just be used to the staggering customizability of Rift's dimensions, but I really appreciate being able to personalize the housing space. Things are already so limited in XIV in terms of customization, it would be nice to have more doodads to place around to help set an atmosphere and just generally decorate.

Would really like an increase in the number of items we can have outside too. >_>;

I like it, as a small FC the price of a medium house is out of our range and, so far, the small house hasn't been worth buying. I think this will prompt ourselves, and other small FCs, to invest in a small house now.

I live in a medium, but now my small-housed neighbors can enjoy a delicious basement. For how much was I damaged? That's right, you heard it right! ZERO!

Unfair was the interal size of small houses. Get off those high heels, you're falling!

To be fair, even a properly* decorated small house is too big for the 50 slots they're allowed. The basement will help a bit, as most will probably use less small furnishings in them and more of the big ones, leaving lots of furniture slots open to decorate the main floor.

*As in NOT filled to the brim with hot tubs and such. Seriously people, why?

Glad they might increase it eventually, but it amazes me that in 2014 this is an issue. Mog houses in FFXI were smaller than a small house here, and the only limit to how many items you could decorate with was how many you could smash into your inventory. To top it off, everyone in the entire game had one, compared to entire free companies sharing a single house. A single instanced house, inside of a housing instance.

I'm just going to guess that in the future they will be releasing items your Free Company master can buy via the Mogstation that will increase the number of furnishings your free company house can hold. They need us to pay for those stable servers, you can't expect them pay for it out of the profits from the game, then they won't be able to run around to all the different game conferences bragging about how awesome and profitable they are.

I always thought the small house was waaaaaaaay too small, so I'm glad people with small houses will now have more space. As for my FC, we will still be saving up for medium/large because it gives even MORE space than the small (even after a basement is added). I imagine not much will change for FCs already invested in going to a medium/large.

A majority of the reasoning for this answer may be due to outside decorations, which everyone can see and does impact the ward as a whole. Even an increase of 1 outside decoration per lot is 30 more decorations, the equivalent of adding 1.5 small houses worth of stuff in the ward.

Inside decorations I can't say much about.

I'm going to be going crafting-crazy when 2.2 hits and the basement opens up in my FC's house.

Though the first thing that happens is the ginormous Vortex Couch gets thrown down the stairs...

I am honestly really frustrated I spent so much extra to have that extra sq. footage... I wouldn't have spent for a medium had I known a small would get a basement!!!

I'm not even able to understand how this can make people complain now, it is nothing but a good news. So what now, people that worked on as a larger number on their large or medium house have to cry about those who still try to enjoy get a re-touch while be less in numbers ?

I for say it's nothing but great! It's only a basement nothing to do with you 3 floored mansion that you guys unable to properly decorate or make feel like home! Because most large and medium house I see are dead empty because only some guy named puff pop got the ability to choose how it's decorated!

And the large mansion.. IT'S WAY BIGGER IN THE INSIDE THEN HOW TI IS OUTDOOR TOO!

The only thing that irked me about the housing changes is that suddenly larger houses got more gardening space, after my FC convinced me to settle for a medium because there were no real benefits to having a large other than more space to put pretty things.
