Overcure Pretty Useless

This matched my same thoughts on Overcure. It's so useless right now. Before 2.1, it was still pretty useless because Cure III was rarely used, but at least it was a guaranteed crit. I pay attention to my procs so I always use my Freecure when I can unless it's really no point. For Overcure, even when I have it, I may use it on the tank just cause it's there, but the Cure II would still be better since it's a bigger heal with just a small amount of more mana.

Considering how Regen + Cure I is almost enough for the entirety of most fights, except extreme primals and T5, we get the Freecure proc a lot which is useful for mp management, but with Overcure, it's use is extremely limited. First, you'd have to use enough Cure II to get the Overcure proc, then you'd have to be in a situation where Cure III is used, which is very rare as it is. But if you're good at mp management, spending the 512 on Cure III when needed isn't really that much of a strain.

Getting the Overcure proc along with the rare chance to use Cure III makes it pretty useless. At least before 2.1, it would look nice when everything crit.

Like the poster in the other thread, I'd want it the proc to at least be longer or just changed completely.

Anyone else feel like this?

its true. i agreed of the op said. there is no synergy between cure 2 and cure 3. you are healing 1 target and you have 15% chance to get half mp of healing target and the people around that target. its just doesn't make sense. i may be wrong but i can't feel any usefulness in my case. >.<

I use it pretty regularly on fights when people stack, with the proc it costs less than medica and heals for nearly twice the ammount.

The problem with Overcure is that it's rarely up when you actually need to use Cure III.

I'd like to see it last 30-45 seconds. It'd be potentially much more useful then in primals or otherwise.

No, Cure III is useful. I use it whenever a group takes damage and needs the aoe heal, it's just the Overcure that's pointless. Cure III is already one of the spells that rarely gets used.

Either longer duration or make it instant cast and free like BLM procs. I want to say that might be "OP" but if you use Cure III when it's unneeded (not that you'd get the procs often anyways), you draw a lot of enmity, so there's a clear trade-off there.

It should last until the next Cure III is used. Either that, or scrap the whole trait having ANYTHING to do with Cure III and rework it so you get MP back based off a % of HP healed for X seconds.

For example (and this isn't balanced or anything, purely a rough example with numbers)
Overcure
Restores 10% of HP healed as MP to the caster while active. Duration 10s

Totally agreed.
Even during FBFS phase, the only situation in the whole game where Cure II and Cure III are both to be used often, I never get that proc when FB comes.

I'd say it's only useful when you need to long range cure said group, like in Ifrit Ex for example if you have searing wind. If EVERYBODY is tightly packed, just remember you're going to have another healer, so Medica/II + Succor or Medica/II will be enough to top everybody off, making Cure III just a waste of MP and a boost enmity from overcuring for you or the other healer (fitting it'd have a proc called "Overcure" huh?)

I see healers too reliant on Cure III during Titan HM/EM and they end up running out of MP quickly. I even stopped using it during Twintania unless it's the other group of people getting hit by Fireballs (but even then Medica/II + Succor will be more then enough) I feel the skill itself is too underwhelming to use for the high MP cost and the short target radius.

So maybe what would be better is if Cure III freecast/guaranteed crit procs on Medica instead? Since they share the same role?

I stopped using it completely in T5. During fireball phase, I use Medica II as the fireball is going to land and that covers them for the next fireball too. And if someone is getting conflag, put regen on them and I don't have to worry about them dying from the dot. I only use Cure III for geocrush/earthen fury in Titan, and hellfire/third nail phase in Ifrit.

seems cool when you have melees at half hp and you get a proc, and heal everyone to full with little mana, but thats not often. feel a 15 second window is a bit small, since by the time you will need it to heal the party it will go away, ifrit ex might be a exception, however even there you have to prioritize healing the tank. anyhow its still beneficial even without the proc in fights like titan, ifrit, coil where the quick cast time is nice, compared to 2.0's.

Overcure is awesome, Cure 3 is 255 MP(something like that) instead of 505 MP. That is such a decrease in MP usage that it's super awesome :), wish it would proc more when you need cure 3 though lol. But whenever I have to heal with cure 2 and need an aoe heal my eyes seriously light up!

Yeah, but that's assuming you happen to be in a situation where Cure III is needed. For me, I only find it useful in extreme primals, and that's just cause it's a quick top off and not really needed except for Ifrit.

If only overcure never had that 15 second timer, it would be worthwhile.

It's not that impressive.

I think the real problem is the random nature of its proc, which just doesn't work well for healing where you need dependable skills you can rely on and use on a moment's notice. And attempting to spam cure 2 in an effort to proc it will waste far more MP than the ability will end up saving you. So basically I agree with you. It's a poorly designed ability.

I'd like to see this. Right now we barely see overcure due to how little we need to cast cure2. Being able to store a half priced cure3 wouldn't be gamebreaking at all.
