Make reporting easier

I touched on this in a previous thread but I thought Id make it a main post

My idea is to have a report option in chat box,the time date server etc would be auto logged automatically all you would need to do is give a reason.

IMO this would make it quicker and easier to report gil spammers etc and would probably result in more people actually reporting and this should result in more bans/ suspensions

Opinions feedback and criticisms welcome

Very much yes. I try to report when I can, but I'm often too busy to bother.

This Is the impression I get from my fc too which is why I think this would be a great implementation

A 10 second report instead of 4/5 mins each time

On the one hand I'm glad there's as much room to input data as there is, so proper context can be included instead of submitting a few canned issues.

That said, the one time I was going to use the report system, I ended up cancelling instead once I saw how much of a hassle it was.

Maybe have a list of canned responses and then an optional text field to provide additional details? Best of both worlds!

But yeah, as it is, using the report function is a right pain, especially if you are on a PS3, every time I've tried to use it, it just flat out hasn't let me do anything.

I'm tired of all the RMTs spam !!
Can't help but think and think how to get rid of them. How should be done? What can I do besides reporting? I blacklist them in one character and then get a tell from that same spammer on my other character later on !! Is very very annoying >_<;;;;

I totally have no idea how they manage the reports, but last night I was thinking something like this:

When you click the spammer's name on the chat window, have a "Report" option.
Then when you select that option, a box will appear saying something like: Are you sure that you want to report <r> as a spammer?
and you select YES or NO.
So you select YES and then maybe have a second confirmation window explaining that a copy of the last received /tell will be sent to a GM, along with your character and server name, and the time and date when the reported /tell was received, then ask if you still want to continue. Hitting YES again will then auto fill the report for you and you don't have to do anything else.

The info will be sent to whichever database GMs use to manage these calls/reports and sort them by the spammer's name. So that if many people also reported the same character, they only need to see the name once and the number of reports. Going into the details about the reports, they can see the copy of the /tells along with the time and date of those tells and the name of the different characters who reported him/her. That should suffice to confirm that indeed it was spam.

It would also help if after certain number of reports, that character loses all communication options except maybe /emote until he/she speaks to a GM. But since there is no way to cheat this kind of report, because players themselves cannot modify any of the data sent to the GMs making it hard to abuse of this system, so the number of reports can be small, like 20 or 50 before the spammer gets muted.

In case that a group of players organize themselves to get a legit player muted... they would first need to have their victim send each and everyone of them a /tell within a short period of time which must also be basically the same message to everyone of them. And even if it was some innocent mass messaging, like "Coil tonight at 7", a copy of that tell will be sent to the GMs who can then know it is not a RMT. So it should be easy to grant communication privileges back to the victim in no time.

in another game ive played that take a tally each week from the block list and if a name has been blocked by players say 250-300, its a good chance its a RMT and then they clear our block list of names that are RMTs

I've also sent that same suggestion even prior to seeing your post a couple of times. If we can report them more easily, more people are likely to report them because it will take almost no time. You don't have to fill out that thing under support called "Report Cheating". I do that once in a while, but it can suck up time I'd rather spend doing fun things -- like, omg, play the game.

Why wouldn't Square facilitate getting the info to them as fast and simply as possible?

It needs to be more easy. At certain times, like last monday, I was getting quite a lot of spam, while I usually report all of them, it gets a bit stupid sometimes.
Other people won't bother with it at all because it takes a bit of effort to report them.
It should be: right click, report RMT, it fills out everything for you, click ok, confirm.

Did it once, will never do again. As OP mentioned, so much info that could be gathered automatically. It seems the whole system is build in a way to prevent people from using it too easilyand often.

I don't bother to report as harassment because I can't ever remember how to spell the jumbled-letter names they use. As mentioned in many (many) other request threads, rt-click (or square or whatever) on the RMT name and "Report RMT and add to (preferably separate) blacklist" is what we all want. I can only hope it will be added sooner rather than later...

Because this has been asked for for the last 6 months, a single right-click REPORT SPAM yet all SE have bothered providing is a right-click BLOCK which simply hides the problem without actually helping stamp it out.

Bumping because report function in its current state is in fact pointless to use against RMT spammers.

The longer this is active the more likely se will take notice

Thread is obviously dead but we need this feature
