At least we're getting new tools, I guess... Odd that we're getting new main hand tools, rather than getting a off hand "relic" for crafting.

It increases CP, not Exp. Personally I got no problem with my amount of CP, so no use for that. You can always leve yourself to 50 in one day if you got the tine and money, nothing to do with those news.

I'm not bothered by the new CP facility, it doesn't give me the impression it's easily accessible, much like having a Free Company buff.
Join a free company, convince them to put Chocbo Rates on.
Something like that, unless I'm completely missing the mark!

As for the main hand tool... I'm quite upset about that really.

For something that's not easily accessible, it's pretty damn worthless though. Sad thing is, this was in 1.0; the crafting Guilds offered a similar service. That would be much better than "Hey FC, can we waste materials and space on our house to have this thing that'll be worthless once I'm Lv.41? Which will be in about five hours.". I seriously do not see the purpose in this, it's pretty useless in every sense. Would have been nicer to have a boost to Control/Craftmanship, then at least you can have Lv.50 crafters making something to ease newer crafters into the star recipes without materia...

Granted, I only have one Disciple of the Hand left to level, so maybe I'm struggling to look at this objectively, but yeah... I can't see the point in this, it's a complete waste of developers resources, and when its in game it'll be a complete waste of a Free Companies resources... Hopefully it'll be like the Manor Fireplace and we'll get a Deluxe version as well, but I think they'd have mentioned that as well... /sigh

SE seems so out of touch with what we players need and continue to put out stuff they THINK we need....it's really disappointing. I'm sure some people will like this, but the majority have no use for it. Endgame crafting is where the focus is needed, not pre-41.

Now I'm willing to give them a grace period, I'll take a closer look at these changes when it comes online.

I indeed expected nothing but craftable iLvl90 gear and some kind of fluff. Which would have been obsolet after around 2-5 weeks. Some of them even after hours.

Let's us look forward to and then react accordingly.

Activities in the house currently are very limited, and I have only ever been once to see what it was like. Since then I've had no desire to check again. With gardening and crafting bonuses, I can really see the appeal in socialising with a group and utilising our hut!

Just think... This is the first step into mega-crafts ;)
Eventually... We'll have a dock... And Armourer Piece by Piece skill will be useful!

Grinding to 50 through Levequests generally makes you money. The only way it wouldn't is if you're buying all the items instead of making them yourself, in which case a CP bonuses isn't going to help anyway...

We were probably going to have to upgrade all our gear anyway to make the new iL90 recipes, though. These may actually save me some aggro if the craftsman boost is significant enough, since I might be able to get away with not having to upgrading the rest of my gear if I can make it to the new craftsmanship requirements with these, HQ food and penta-melding my off-hands.

To be fair, those are going to look damn nice in our house. Finally, we can have a proper workshop and a kitchen area! (Assuming that the small houses get their basements in 2.2, which has been suspiciously unconfirmed so far . . . )

That's the reason I avoided materia melding any of my class-specific crafting gear, I thought, Particians may be ghastly to look at dyed Cactuar Green, but at least it'll save me upgrading soon!
Feel bad for the sods who penta melded all their individual kit if it does mean upgrading completely.

Not everything is for lvl 50 crafters. Some people are still leveling up. This will likely give you a buff that increases your CP anywhere, which is useful for those... y'know... leveling up.

Also ~I think~ the expectation is that more people will be buying FC houses in 2.2. It's just like most other MMOs where you buy furniture that gives you buffs elsewhere - we'll probably be seeing it more in the future. Yes, you can level really fast if you have the gil/friends to do so, but not everyone is afforded that luxury. Plus there's like, what, 8 DoH? It'll be pretty useful.

This is a silly design choice.

Anyone that owns (or greatly contributed) to a FC house most likely has their crafting classes to 50 already. It only takes a few days to level a craft to 50. Six months after the game is released and they decide to release a low level CP buff for people who most likely can't use it. It's completely pointless that you can't use the buff at level 50. And it's a waste of these crafting tables' potential. I'm still thankful for the tables in general as I run a "player crafting shop" and these will fit nicely with my theme.

The main hand tools are also kind of odd. Right now the Luminaries are best in slot and in patch 2.2 they are giving all of the Luminaries the same visual crafting tables that the level 50 quest items have (ie. saw horses for carpenter.) If these new Main Hand items are better in stats then the Luminaries then I guess we could just glamour them so they still retain the Luminary appearance. However, this also seems like a wasted opportunity which could have been a perfectly good chance to upgrade our crappy Offhand wooden tables instead. Why give us more main hands?

So new players wanting to craft a specific craft will still need to grind out multiple classes they may not have any interest in for this addition to be completely useless?

I mean, I get how this is useless for anyone with all crafting skills maxed out, but I don't see how helping low level crafters is necessarily a bad thing.

Again, this would have been great as the Crafting guild bonus it practically was in 1.0. Why it's now lumped to Housing I'll never know...

I remember when Free Companies were for endgame... Really not seeing it so far.

It will help lower level do more HQ to turn in for leaves, that's nice I think
There might be something else for lv 50, we don't know yet

looks like only new Mainhand Gear for crafter :(
But i hope there will be also new pants, shoes and so on for crafters

I have melded the individual sets, but only to reach the stats I want to have.
Most of my melding efforts went into the accessoires, of which I expect they won't be outclassed that soon yet.

To be fair, I don't even expect we have to replace my current sets just yet.
As for the new tools, I'd like to see what the stats on those are first.

Maybe for elitists FCs are solely for the phat lewt grinds, but back in 1.0 I joined an LS pre-release, for V2 I was still in that LS which became an FC and I started a new character on a new server and joined an FC when I was level 6.

Can't believe anyone is arguing this. Not every new player is in a Free Company. Not every Free Company is going to waste time on this. It would have been much better served as the Crafting Guild buff we could get in 1.0. That plus new furniture would have been nice, combining the two is just a waste.

While Free Companies were for endgame (and endgame =/= elitism if anyone else wants to throw that strawman out there), they did want to encourage players to recruit new players. Do this do that? No. It encourages new players to join Free Companies, but does nothing to encourage Free Companies to actually recruit them. It's an extra cost, uses up space in the companies estate, and it offers nothing to the people who'll produce it... Much better would have been;

Crafting Guilds now provide a service to boost CP while leveling up to level 40.
Free Company crafting facilities provide a CP boost for everyone.

That way, everyone gets the leveling bonus, players who join a Free Company with it get it for free, an every crafter in the Free Company gets a bonus out of it.

you can trip and fall into 100k gil per day EASY on monday alone chasing after that one item you need in CT while you spiritbond... ive bought FULL Leve Power leveling kits ( all the HQ turnins u need) to get form 1 - 50 in 2 hours for 100k... there is NO excuse (other than waiting on leve regeneration) not to be level 50 on all crafting jobs with how pathetic it is to level them with leves. and with BCoB DF version coming out its even easier to farm the philo mats for i70/rank IV Materia conversion.

Half of my FC only got into crafting once they hit 50 on their battle class.

That said I really would prefer this to be a guild bonus. It'd serve the dual purpose of being accessible to everyone while encouraging more people to craft away from the market area, which just looks better visually.

This is probably going to end with us locking our FC house to members-only. Right now there's no reason not to be hospitable and keep it open but having random strangers sneak in to use our workshop is going to feel pretty creepy.

Or you can trip and fall into a CT drinking game which seems to happen every other day... and tbh SBing a full CT run only goes to about 40-60% completion. That's not 100k, that's more like 10k of 'potential' profit. And assuming your not doing crafting jewelry there's always the RNG of having elemental filler materia.

'Good' players are a limited resource in any online game.
Recruitment is a challenge many guilds face progressing into the later phases of gaming.

Recruiting new and inexperienced players is something every guild should be interested in if they want to be considered 'large' or 'successful' in the long term.

Providing features that benefit lower levelled players is a massive incentive for them to join.

I.. umm... new player. My Free Company has a house. Is that like suppose to be strange?

I dont know, many characters get into a Free Company as soon as they reach level 35 or so(coerthas range), many FC on my server shouts and recruits members. Last i checked, my server housing ward is full of houses.

CP i snot going to break the game, heck i would not be surprised if they increased EXP, i mean, wasn't that the whole plan? skip to level 50?

If they can do with important classes like battle class, they should practically give u all level 50 crafts.


Tho not everyone can afford to level all crafts, i remember weaver was expensive as hell.
