My Leve Timers has this in the list now, but I don't know what it's for.
Timer for gathering a timeworn map with DoL (Fisher Miner Botanist) classes. 18 hour cooldown.
Ok. So while I'm gathering, I have a chance to find one, but can only get one every 18 hours. Gotcha.
Also, do Guild Leves and Levequests share allowances, or are they seperate? Been to busy with Main Story and Sidequests to really bother so far.
They share. And it caps at 100 allowances.
Awesome, thanks for the info!
I also see some people have a lot of main classes at 50. Is doing this somehow better than rolling alts for a new daily/weekly cycle (ie. more classes at 50 = more stat boosts or something?), or are people doing it just because?
Hi,
Easier to stack everything on a character.
Example cross class skill. As a White mage you can use some skills of Arcanist and Thaumaturge. The Thaumaturge has a skill at level 26 very interresting. But as you leveled already at 26 why not 30 to become a Black mage.
But black mages can use some skills from Arcanist and Archer. The archer have a reduce aggro skill interesting for black mages at lvl 42 (I think or maybe 36, 42 must be mantra). If you level archer you will probably get it Bard.
Bards share some skills with....
you see the trend :)
Also to unlock job you have to level another class to 15 (depends on job you are unlocking), so you probably get to level it anyways.
And you could do just for the achievements, unlocking all jobs, all relics...
But you are correct that on the other hand multiple alts would allow to bypass daily/weekly lockouts
Some do both
Yeah I've been looking at the sub fees and I'm not sure why I'd pay $2 extra month for more character slots, when one character can do it all... and getting a second character to 50 would be really monotonous, since once I hit 20 I started to feel the grind (I still like the game, though).
Hmm...
But if all I really want to play is Paladin, there's no reason to get a job like, say, Black Mage, aside from boredom, right? I mean, I don't get a stat boost on my Paladin for getting a 30 whatever and 15 whatever to get a Black Mage?
You don't get a stat boost on any classes for having other classes leveled. The only thing you get from them is cross-class skills and understanding of that other class a bit more, both of which can be helpful.
For PLD you will probably want to get Conjurer up to 34 eventually for Stoneskin and Marauder up to 26 for whatever that skill is.
Leveling other jobs can be useful, aside from cross class skills. For instance, if you level MNK or LNC you'll find that positioning is very important for those jobs. As a tank, you'll then understand how important it can be for you to position mobs and hold them steady in such a way to maximize the damage from LNC and MNK if they're in your PT.
If you have a WHM generally yes. Their stoneskin gives 18% instead of 10%. I think the Stoneskin SCH have is only 10% also, so it's a toss up there.
It can also be useful in certain situations where the healers are otherwise occupied keeping everyone, well, healed. With the second boss in Qarn, for example, he just starts ignoring the tank and picks another party member to wail on as a part of his attack rotation. I take the opportunity to cast a few stoneskins to help keep everyone up. There are also a few fights in Crystal Tower where the healers are constantly busy so popping the occasional stoneskin as off-tank can help.
Edit: It's also fun for when you are running lower level dungeons and the healer is level-synced below where they get stoneskin - you can still have it equipped as a cross-class skill. I get amused by using it in Sastasha and Toto-Rak.
