When do we get more?
Just kinda sit in Ul'dah for for 45 minutes each day waiting for more Disciples of Magic to come out.

Took a 8 day vacation waiting for new patch. Only to find out that 1.18 is delayed and won't change stats. My damage will still be crap until 1.19.
I could wait longer if I had a new Disciple of Magic to rank up :O -

I really hope they don't make summoner a playable job. I kinda like the idea of the "primals" being massive powerhouses. Tho if they do, it would be neat to make you select your summon when you unlock the class.

THM and CON really covers all ends of magic except for summoning, necromancy (player wise) and fell. Summoning doesn't really have a place for being on the player's side unless they want to rewrite the whole story.

I don't understand why people seem to think summoning doesn't fit being a player ability. Especially considering (possible spoiler alert) Ifrit explicitly comments on making a pact with the player so long as he/she forsakes calling OTHER Eikons. To which our npcs reply something along the lines of : "Are you saying that we are capable of summoning primals as well!?"
But yeah it totally has NO place in the story line. >_> -

Seriously I tried playing Disciple of War, and I don't like it, they won't really benefit me as caster, while any caster ability will amazing for any disciple of war.
Working on archer for chameleon, but you know what? A good caster knows when to cast and not to cast so why am I gonna need an ability to drop hate? Why am I gonna need any move like featherfoot, when I shouldn't be close to a mob at all. Stoneskin should be good enough for taking a hit or two.

If summoner popped up i could see maybe 50% of the population switching to it given the immense demand ive seen just about everywhere, from DoW and DoM alike, even non players i see asking on websites if we can summon things like in the console FFs. I think theres very few people who wouldn't want to be capable of summoning monsters, whether theyre traditional Ifrits/Leviathans/Titans etc or something a little different.
If it were implemeted, i think thered be a huge swarm of Summoners all over every server, but it would either fall drastically or retain its number depending on how they went about making it. The treatment of the XI incarnation was horrendous and i think many are excited about having one as a DD specific class.
Honestly though, i dont think now is the time for new base classes. I know its unfair that magic fans only have 2 (eventually 4) options compared to the melees but i think SE will really have their hands full just sorting out all the rebalancing for what we have, and what we'll be getting. More classes means more jobs, thats more work and more time. I think maybe they should just fix the base classes, get the base jobs out and deal with 1.19/1-22-ish (which im hoping will sort out most of the foundational system issues) before they look upon expanding existing options. -

I would like to believe there will be multiple pet jobs like in XI, and that they will be jobs, not classes. i.e. Conjuror get summoner, THM get necromancer, MRD get beastmaster, LNC get a dragon pet job (can't say dragoon since it sounds like they're coming first), PGL get pupetmaster... Maybe far down the road but basically an expansion that offers all classes a pet job. This would also solve the problem of everyone switching to the one class to summon...
The pet job would basically give you a pet but SEVERELY restrict your own abilities. -

The timelines show no indication of any new Disciple of Magic classes being implemented in the coming year or two...
Few of the interviews that Yoshi-P has been barely talked about them, saying with class balancing they will be put on hold. What exactly is the real reason for these jobs being held up?
I am going to sound like a broken record here...
I am sorry I find the fact that I am going to be paying soon, to just sit around, being bored as all hell. When I am not doing a linkshell event, I am literally doing nothing. I have no other disciples of magic to level because there are only 2. I keep my sanity by crafting weaver, but like I stated earlier in the thread at 06-30-2011 11:03 PM I want to throw myself into traffic.
At least for the next year i could slowly level at my own pace to 50 on a new disciple of magic to make the wait less bad.
When can we expect new classes for Disciple of Magic? -

Isn't Arcanist exactly what he wants for the next caster? It's descriptions lays traps for enemies with magic. It's items are already designed, it's guild is already there, and as far as I can remember Arcanist was supposed to be out at the same time as the release. The Job was mentioned to Be Geomancer. So like I said what is exactly holding up this class from being released?Quote:

They are currently in the process or reallocating abilities for all 7 classes right now. I could've sworn I read that it was suppose to be out today but it will be soon.

Introduce Jobs and balance as well.
I think reallocating skills for 7 classes, introducing 7 new jobs, and balancing them all is quite a monumental task. 1.18 the archers were the preferred class for r45 dungeon and now in 1.19 lancers are preferred class for ifrit. As you can see, SE, although doing a great job, has not perfected the concept of class balance. 7 classes + 7 jobs is going to be hell to balance if they can't quite get 7 classes balanced. Added an 8th or 9th class (DOM) + their respective job would only add to an already difficult balancing act. Let them get what they have right first and that's what they are trying to do.
P.S. This is no way meant to be a bash to SE just that it takes time.
EDIT: This is similar to the introduction of the Death Knight in WOW. It took them vanilla wow + TBC before they introduced one new class with the 2nd expansion (3 or 4 years). Anyone who knows wow will tell you class balance has and never will be perfect. -

I can not wait for a new DoM. I'm sick of THM :( nobody wants them for dungeons/ifrit. Can't wait for the job system and the redistribution of abilities, skills, and traits. Just hope that they implement it with while keeping in mind that people will want to play them in dungeons and big fights.
