Hi peoples! I made this list awhile ago from the books located in the conjurer's guild... So far it works out great! If I notice that a local leve is too hard, I'll wait until the correct hour / day and it makes a very noticable difference :o
I'm curious about the effects of astral / umbral phases on synthesis... FFXI had a similar system of including light/dark polarities along-side the various elemental days, so maybe the astral / umbral phase only effects astral / umbral things? It seems that the success rate of synthesis isn't effected by either astral / umbral phases, so I think it's a basic 'element X is strong during this moon' kinda thing, rather than 'element X is strong during the astral phase and weak during umbral.'
Anywho, I plan on getting some numbers posted here sometime in the near future along with checking out if I can find anything on crafting directions ( I noticed that the book mentions how the heavens guides the elements and also how the elemental-colored stars are aligned nicely to the cardinal directions... ). Let me know how it works out for you guys ^^

Reading the Time:
The clock located next to the images of the moon tells you the time in month/day format. Each moon lasts 32 days, which is considered one month. The twelve moons make up the 12 months, and each has four cycles per month. Each phase of the moon lasts eight days, giving us the four moon phases observed each month. ie: 11/28 would be the 11th moon at 50% ( the fourth cycle lasts from day 24 to day 32, make it 50% on day 28 )

A curious note is that the elemental hour that is the same element as the current moon seems to do whacky stuff like all-white synths or instant destabilizing of the element where it then almost always succeeds when you use bold synthesis :3 -

As much as I'm appreciating your work on this(and I heard of this from other people as well) I'm not willing to believe this at all. One reason...this just seems WAY over the top. Second...each hour of the day is way too short to actually get more than 1-2 crafts done in it...so what are people supposed to do who want to HQ something...do 2 crafts every 20min?
Plus the only people I know who are like fiercly defending this whole superstitious stuff are people who don't even have a R50 craft and actually tried HQing stuff yet...in your case even worse, since you're highest craft is R19. This is no attack against you, but after crafting soooooooo much in XIV already, I can tell that having a few crafts below 20 doesn't make you a valid resource for crafting effects in any kind of way. Getting a craft to 20 literally takes 1-2 days of grinding it if you really want to, so your "tests" are subjective at best, but not nearly valid enough to actually give them any kind of "proof".
Plus everybody who brings up this whole elemental calendar stuff for crafting resort to the books In-Game to proof it. But sorry...the books are in the Conjurers, Thaumaturges and Arcanists Guild...they are casters who USE elemental spells, so there is no reason why this should apply to crafting at all. This could merely be a "tutorial" for caster classes to know which element to use against what element based mob.
Again, as much as I appreciate the work people put into this. Don't make up stuff or go with it unless it's really tested and confirmed in any way or we will have stupid stuff like the "crafting compass" back in this game that DO NOTHING, but people just go with it since it doesn't hurt to do it... -

As above stated, unless you can link proof, this is no way believable. Show parse logs, have tool used, gear worn, and synth used as proof. I'd expect at least 100 synths done at a specific hour/moon combo before believing it as any sort of fact. More would be better.

Agreed. Having this information handy is a good thing. I've even known some R50 crafters to swear by it.
And even if it isn't mechanically correct, what you have at least done is collate the information from the mages' guilds so that people may be able to make sense of it in other contexts as well. -

Are the people complaining about this XI players? This is almost easier and more laid out than XI's bs hidden elemental system and directions. At least you don't have to craft in a cardinal direction LOL. You may though if some figures out for sure the cardinal directions and their elements. Also FF is a world no matter what, so you can look up into the sky and see the elements in the stars, if you can't get a new gpu haha. But the proof for elements and cardinal directions is there.
Yoshi-P said he might take this out btw, or at least I think he did by saying "they were complex things in equations" that they were looking into from previous team. SO not confirmed but definitely something to ponder about. -

You know I'm okay with this elemental calculations that affect crafting. But for crying out loud SE. Let us know one way or the other instead of letting the community come up with superstitious theories!
From what I could tell the FFXI stuff was valid, even though SE never said one way or the other if it worked or not.
SE shouldn't be so secretive about fishing,synthesis. stuff.
I understand not wanting to give out the numbers and having ppl find ways to abuse the system. But making a guide is perfectly okay! We don't need to know the exact calculations. Leave that for the Min-Max'ers lol -

As an update, I think that I may have listed the elemental hours / moon phases off by +/- half of their times... Seems that the listed times for the moon phases are for the peek of each phase, not the beginning of that phase. So I'm guessing that the elemental hours are also listed as peek times, and +/- 30 minutes :o
