10 min penalty for withdrawn person?

Many gamers hate CT because you have to wait a very long time, and then there will be some person who want to take DF from last boss, and he join and withdrawn, join and withdrawn..

Why not make a 10 min penalty if you push Withdrawn button or dint pushed anything
If you pushed withdrawn then you probably "that kind" of person or have some other things to do so you can wait a 10 min or more, while doing something else
If you dint pushed anything while window pop you probably busy.. and yeah maybe for another 10 min you can be also not available

Yup, like bathroom break, leveling an alt, or .... (gasp) crafting. In my opinion, none of those deserve another penalty other than queuing again to the rear.

Just because some scums are withdrawing the duty to get easier loot doesn't mean that everybody withdrawing are scums.

I think that was part of the point Kugata was making. If you're too busy and have to withdraw, then a 10 minute delay before you can queue again wouldn't be a penalty at all, as you don't want to be queued right now, you're too busy. The only people for whom a 10 minute delay would be a penalty are those who are just withdrawing and re-queuing repeatedly.

Since a withdrawal penalty is basically a deterrent against inconveniencing 3-23 other people, the idea occurred to me to have the penalty scale based on how many people you're inconveniencing when you withdraw. Five minutes for 4-man instances, 10 minutes for 8-man, 15-20 minutes for 24-man.

Not sure whether I like that idea (scaling) or not. Just popped into my head and I thought I'd jump on this thread to bring it up.

There should be a penalty, but only if they have multiple withdraws in a certain time period. Anyone can miss 1 because they're in the middle of a craft, or looking at another screen. Doing it repeatedly in a short time period is when you start harassing others.

Now my question is... what exactly are you trying to achieve with this?

It will in no way shorten you queue.. it'll only make it longer.. I could try to explain it to you... but experience tells me you wouldn't understand it anyway

The goal is to stop people from continuously queuing and withdraw repeatedly, so that having the DF pop up telling us we've got a party and it's time to start the dungeon really means that we've got a party and it's time to start the dungeon. Don't have it keep interrupting people over and over when in fact it's not time to interrupt them yet.

10 minutes seems too long for me, 5 minute delay would be fine. Sometimes real life might get me just as the que is about to pop. I dont want to take care of something for a couple of minutes only to come back and have to wait though 8 additional minutes staring at menus waiting on the timer to go down.

If the main issue comes from people continuously withdrawing in hopes of getting an in-progress run, what about a much longer penalty but one which only prohibits the in-progress selection? So if something comes up and you have to withdraw, you can queue again immediately, but cannot select the "Join Party in Progress" option for another hour.

I'm sorry, but pursuing punishment as a "solution" to fix anything creates a toxic environment. Now, I'm not saying the current situation—with players withdrawing that much and DPS having so very long queue times while tanks most of the time get instant queues—is not already a problem. The unequal treatment of the classes certainly creates a toxic environment as well: It is frustrating for the DPS to wait that long in queue, even more so because they know they could get much faster queues if they played a different class, and on top of that tanks and healers get the bonus rewards from roulette a lot more often than DPS; so you have that tension between the roles now because if tension arises from one side (DPS towards tanks and healers), it inevitably goes the other way as well. So DPS put pressure on the tanks and healers because they've been waiting so long for them and so they "better be good," so to speak; while on the other hand tanks and healers put pressure on DPS because they're being pressured themselves while often seeing themselves in a position of authority over DPS, considering DPS easily replaceable, but not themselves. All of that creates a downward spiral where negativity feeds on negativity, and that's when you have a toxic environment.

Now, I hope that you can see how punishment, or removing an option that a lot of players use, would feed that downward spiral even more. The players who enjoy using the feature only to get into in-progress duties will be frustrated if they can no longer do so, and they'll be mad at the players who asked for it to be removed, and at the developers for removing it.

The solution that I would suggest is to give players 3 options, as follows:
1) to queue for a new dungeon/raid/instance only
2) to queue for an in-progress dungeon/raid/instance only
3) to queue for both a new dungeon/raid/instance, and an in-progress one.

This solution would have no negative effects; but, on the other hand, positive effects for everyone. Because players that want to only queue for in-progress instances are in a separate queue from players who want a new instance, situations where players consistently withdraw will become far less; it does not negatively affect players wanting new instances because those that only want in-progress queues already withdraw from all queues that aren't in-progress; it does also give those that queue for both currently with the intention to get into an instance faster still the option to do just that.

Yes please, a 5 minute df ban wont interfere with busy ppl, and is desperately needed for abusive-tanks/heals. I think 5 minutes is ok, just enough to prevent the same guy spamming withdraw.

All this concern that we lack tanks, but yet this still isn't implemented....

or just remove the ONLY problem, that nice little line that says:

Progress 0/1

they remove that it looks just like a start from beginning pop.
no penalty needed, only reason they will withdraw is personal reasons/trolling

5 min penalty is needed. Too many times people go in and out repeatedly, but don't take my word for it just go and DF CT and you will see. I don't believe the excuse of people being busy and have to pop out. 5 mins is not a big penalty.

I heard many good ideas here

1. Make "join in progress" button active, then if person withdrawn make it impossible for 5-10 min, you still can go normal one.
2. Don't show is there a new pt or with progress

3. Give a tanks miracle cookies so the tank pop will inc. lol jk
