Level Sync Changes Needed

While leveling multiple jobs I will say the one thing that annoys me the most about this otherwise awesome feature is that I have to move abilities around each time it occurs, especially if level 30+ and get Randomed into a 20 or under duty/fate.

Since all abilities are Potency based can we just have the level scaling effect just do Stats, Traits and Gear but leave core class/job abilities alone. Even the extra cross class slots I can understand locking out but loosing some abilities that are very rotation or reaction dependent, ie tanking it is frustrating.

Why do you have to move abilities around? I leave my bars exactly the same and am just aware of which abilities I can't use at whatever level I'm sync'd at.

It definitely screws with Combo's.... if you are synced down from a 40-50 monk, you probably have your bar set (if using a crossbar) with your flank combo and rear combo, and those abilities aren't all available in the sync down so the muscle memory of the abilities doesnt work.

I can see this being a fact primarily on Monk.... MAYBE on DRG too.... as a main Bard, not an issue.

I would assume BLM and WHM have this issue too, since there are alot of spells and the way you would group them on a crossbar may make it tricky..

For a tank... easy peezy... Your 3rd ability in combo shouldnt be active, so use the first two and spam overpower/flash.... thats how those dungeons were built.

System is fine the way it is... Not an issue, be more observant to the abilities you have.... unless you are just lazily leveling a class and spending no time trying to learn it.... in that case, you are just a weak grinding player

If it bothers you too much you always have to option of not doing content that requires a level sync.

The skills you can't use are kind of greyed out, so its not hard to determine what is available when synced. I hope it stays the way it is.

I agree that it screws up my crossbar (using gamepad) but I think it's fair enough to stay like this.

PS: BLM totally change his rotation when he gets to Mega Ice and Mega Fire (from start to end)...

I mean sure it is annoying to play Level synced when you are use to doing, say level 50 dungeons.

I will admit, due to muscle memory I will be hitting Rage of Halone and wondering why its not going off- oh Duhhh, small brain farts, but I dont understand why you have to change your hot bars up.

Because, with a gamepad, i optimise position of shorcuts. I place them by theme and utility, and this is what I change when new (and more useful) skill comes up.
As a WHM, i won't use Earth I as often when I have Earth II.
As a BLM, Fire III will be place near Fire because I use them often together, Ice won't be used anymore when i have Ice III. I won't use Thunder I when I have thunder II etc... So i move them on a secondary hotbar. Etc...

And there's more. It really depend of the class/Jobs.

I'm only lvl 30 with my paladin, but i have no problem with this class at this moment...
And only change one thing for invoker.

I play on keyboard and I just have my keys changed from the traditional 1-= setup to using all the buttons around the wasd keys(q,e,r,f,g,c) then 1, 2, 3 for bars 1-3(Using shift and ctrl versions) Then I have 3 bars that use the NUM pad and the rest are Universal Bars that dont have keys. I learned this set up from playing The Old Republic(which has SOOO many skills that are all useful).

Because the game is built(in my mind) on a system where there is no real useless skill, I don't move anything around after I place that skill in the "correct" spot. Combos will be in order (q,e,f for me)and other skills may be on the same key on multiple bars(all cc skills on c, Shift+c, ctrl+c for example). So when I get synced, things never need to be moved and never get confusing. Skills are only ever in one place for me.

in your case of Ice and Ice III for example :

/ac "Ice III" <t>
/ac "Ice" <t>

when you sync down and have no more access to Ice III you will use Ice.

The best solution I can think of to this is allow us to save hotbars, keybindings included. This way you could easily switch out say your level 60 hotbar 1 for your level 50 hotbar one, and it'll have all the right keybindings.

You just have to adapt, as someone who leveled and actively plays all the DoM/DoW at 50 (besides nin, lvl 25 & now my lvl 60 drk). To optimize your job, no matter what the class you need to be comfortable with switching hotbars (I played on PS3 swapped to PS4 so I too use gamepad). My first job I started as when ARR first launched was pug/mnk so I got used to constantly switching as I had all my skills on first hotbar and my buffs on a second one. So when dungeons sync you down there's no need to move skills around, just get used to swapping hotbars (which you should honestly be doing at higher levels too unless you macro everything). An alternative solution since gamepad gives you a 7 sets of hotbars per job (8th is shared across all by default) is to make some hotbars with skills for rotations at lower levels.
