As a side note, you don't "beat" MMORPGs, as part of their nature of persistent worlds. Finally, crafters and gatherer classes in this game have the same dignity as adventurer classes. That's how it's been pubblicized from the very start.
The classes have the same dignity, but FFXIV players don't have the same dignity as players from other games. FFXIV's been dumbed down. The only challenge in the game is to find the time to level up to rank 50. Other than that, there is nothing challenging.
I love the fact crafting is not a just a sub class in this game... but I sorta agree with the OP in terms of the main story line quest. There is sorta no epicness of killing a rank 20mob at rank 30ish in a mission quest, I think this might be because they made it so crafter could do everything either that or SE assumed the casual players fail to an epic level that they needed it that easy.
Thing that can be extended to pretty much every other MMORPG out there. I'm sure I'm expressing a concept that's alien to many, but MMORPGs are *not* a challenging/difficult genre :D
Oh, and crafter can finish the quests (especially the higher level ones) not because the mobs are so incredibly easy/lower level. Just because there's the option to parley with them.
Why not? Their chosen path is 10 times more difficult than any DoW or DoM.
There were bosses in FFXI that took some time, skill, and luck to figure out how to beat.
So they can put in other content for DoM and DoW that are more involved.

I'm happy they made craft into classes fleshes out rp capabilities. Like I can be a fisherman/fish monger if I so choose and play my part in the in coming dangers. (once ps3 verson is out.)

think you took it wrong way crafters cant kill anything over lv 10 how they beat the later levels is because they do not have to fight they can just parley which involves no fighting what so ever.
everyone has choice to parley or just straight up fight the monsters in those quest, you are not forced to to do one choice over the other
I feel like removing the ability to parley on another other than DoH or DoL classes would be a really simple way to help ease the problem. Some tweaking to the monsters you fight for each quest once the battle system has been re-oriented would be a wise move for future players as well.
It's really nice that players who live to craft are allowed to experience the plot to its completion, but allowing a Marauder to talk things out peacefully instead of sinking their axe into some skulls takes away from any suspense the fights might have had.
I've seen weavers weave themselves out of some sticky situations before... Yeah... I totally went there. LOL
They also tend to reap what they sew... OK, OK, that's all the weaver puns I have in my bag!
