Interupted spell without getting hit?

Greetings everyone.

I just joined this game like a month or so ago and slowly started leveling as a healer. Now there is 1 thing that is kinda weirding me out and its getting increasingly annoying.

Sometimes my spell is getting interupted without me being actually hit. The fights i noticed this the most are fights with big aoe attacks (primals Ifirit and Titan are prime examples here) Like i get out of the aoe circle and start casting a spell but when the aoe fires off my spell is getting interupted.
Is this some sort of effect from big aoe attacks or am i doing something that causes this? I am not using any macro's so that can't be it. I nearly losted a couple groupmates because of this so now i am trying to find the cause.

Its because the interruption tends to happen towards the end of the cast, so if and cast a 2 second spell one second will pass before it is interrupted. You cant run stop cast in rapid succession, sometimes the game still thinks you are moving. Combined with what i mentioned previously i think that is your cause.

If you were in the AoE circle when the mob finished casting (ie when the circle disappeared) then you will get hit by the attack - even if the attack doesn't go off for a couple of secs and you've moved away by then. If that's the problem then jut make sure you run out of AoEs quicker. If it's not, not sure what could be the cause - could be a delay in the 'interrupt' message as above poster says, again meaning you had actually been hit already.

It's probably lag. Like you start casting when the server is still updating your position and thinking you are still moving.

First, make sure you're not actually being hit by the attack. If you aren't, then chances are you're just attempting to cast too soon after you stop moving, and the game thinks you're still moving on the server's end (in other words, lag).

Unlike XI, non-physical damage can interrupt your spells too (although that's not to say every potential form of damage can interrupt; some will not, like Titan's Tumults)

I'm not as sure about Hellfire or Earthen Fury, but I do know that Aerial Blast from Garuda almost always interrupts my attempt at Medica and whatnot if I start casting before it hits. The best way to get around this is with Surecast/Swiftcast.

Are you on a controller? I noticed I do that every now and again. Like dodge weight of the lands, start casting, but my control stick wasn't perfectly centre and it stops my cast as a blm. For me its a user error.

Don't start casting as soon as you stop, give it .5 then start. Unfortunately it's just the way it is atm.

This sounds like a latency issue. Essentially, there is a latency period (0.3 seconds between when the server checks your position) in most maps and instances (HM and specific endgame dungeons have this latency reduced to 0.01 seconds or so). The result is that the game will believe you are still moving because your coordinates change while midcast. The game generally views this as you trying to move while casting and cancels your cast.

It can be a big problem and I have had a few casts where this system issue has interrupted as well. I've also had instances where I use it to my advantage to move prematurely at the end of a cast and reposition an aoe heal/holy. It just takes some getting used to.

We need Slave-Maker. Then, there'll be no more casting as a healer Job.

Do you have a wireless connection? If you do then that's your problem. If so then wire your connection and see if that helps.

Yea after some testing of stop run healing it seems indeed a latency issue and it requires me to wait a bit before.
Is latency during primal fights bigger then usual cause i need to force it almost in the standard world/dungeons.

Just reroll bard and laugh at the screen while your running around dodging aoes and attacking at the same time.
