Leve failing is now a thing of the past (or so it seems). Thank goodness.

I must say, it seems like Aiko Juns idea is what they went with. I'm not implying they took her idea but rather she nailed it weeks before this was released.
Good job.

Good job.
Going to suck getting guild marks now.
Won't really affect me since the classes i like playing are r50. But it all sounds good.
It already did suck. I can't count the number of times I've sacrificed marks on one class because the SP was more important on the class I wanted to rank up and people in the party didn't want to lose party bonus by me switching to a 50.
Now I can just go to the correct city when I've a spare leve (easier now that they're more for soloers) and get an increased number of marks per leve.
It's a shame they didn't talk about the changes to gathering leves to make them more worthwhile that have been mentioned in the gathering Q&A. Bit worried they won't get that done for 1.18.
Doubt we'll be seeing any kind of nerfing, overall (SE seems to not adopt that mentality these days anymore).
You can link even more now for overall higher SP (or i'm guessing about the same as now with max link?) + completion bonus.
I'm guessing that these new questhubs/sidequests are designed to make Guildleves pale in comparison in terms of EXP. I wouldn't rule out dungeon EXP yet either.
SE is up to something fishy.
I'm not really liking this part. I'm trying to level mainly conjurer right now so if I get a leve with marks for a class I don't really care about, I still do it as a conjurer and just take 0 marks but still get all the SP. Basically with this new system I will be forced to either level the class I really don't want to, or skip that leve completely.Quote:
Similarly, completing a regional levequest as any class other than those recommended will yield no skill points.
Quiestion: What are groups supposed to take place in on a semi-daily basis if not doing leves. Does this mean grinding is viable again? Assume you're not doing one of the two "dungeons."
What they mean is you can only get SP on a DoW/DoM, since those are the recommended classes for regionals. All regionals are recommended for a DoW/DoM.
If the system wasn't there I could just beat a regional on my PGL, switch to a DoH/DoL, then get the SP reward for finishing the leve on to whatever gathering/crafting class I swapped to.
I would say that means where on the leve it says "Recommended class DoW/DoM" for battlecraft leves rather than the class you get marks for.
So if you are in a battlecraft leve on DoH/L you would get no SP, never seen that happen before so idk how it currently works, also if you are too high or low rank for the leve you would get gimp or no sp.
sounds great to me.. so in terms of progression changes in 1.18 we'll see:
1. Subquests with SP
2. Quest Hubs
3. Dungeons
4. Reformed Guildleve system
and probably:
1. Camp areas with respectable SP (likely if they're starting the Guildleve reform)
2. More NMs with cooler drops
Feeling optimistic!
So with them weakening the SP on levelinks I wonder what they'll do to help encourage PTing. It's not just the search system that's the issue, it's mobs being too far and spread out to be effective. Or have long repop times (Peiste in Coerthas for example).
The EXP curve is something I hope they'll take into consideration to. Here's a quick chart I made comparing XIVs curve to XIs:

I'm intrigued and happy that having 5 leves the same will not be a problem anymore, sure the link bonus is reduced but the amount of links allowed had increased, couple that with the revised SP bonus vs Leve it looks like after your group has finished their party/hub quest/other mechanic to get SP a nice little multi-link leve might just be the ticket for all those people who are near to rank (as is always the case in a party).
I think increasing GP per leve but tying them to the city guilds is a good idea too, but I guess this is the final death knell for The Shepherds Guild in Coerthas. All in the upcoming changes have a very positive dynamic, I hope the implementation is as satisfying as the description of the proposed changes to be made!
The only thing that is going to suck is being forced to go to that hell hole that is Gridania to get CON guild marks. Are they planning to actually make guild marks useful? At the the moment you can't really get anything worthwhile with them.
They're planning on making Gridania not suck, but it's going to take some major work.
Looks like i will be grinding leves in Gridania for now on.. :3
I was under the impression this meant that you won't get an SP bonus at the end if you join the leve as a DoL/DoH job? If you see in the picture of the guildleve it says "DoW DoM recommended" I have a feeling that will be the recommendation for all the guildleves, so they're just clarifying regionals will give SP for battle classes only. I could be wrong though.
the selection of reward is like choise between reward ? or I understand it wrong ?
Since this is the only thing Guardian's Aspect is currently good for, what are the dev's plans for GA going forward?Quote:
The skill point bonus will be abolished for battlecraft leves.
You are mistaken. There is a bunch of useful skills and more important the traits! Traits own so much that if you dont have you are a worse player than othar with those traits you miss.
And related to Gridania they are changing it somehow and i still like it how is it now.
1) I'd love to hear their brilliant idea for how to level up DoW / DoM classes in the 40's now. They are quick to break down the common method without introducing their new ideas.
2) Thank you for forcing us to move between cities at a greater rate even though there is still absolutely no transportation in this game besides a highly restrictive teleportation system.
But hey, at least they've made dozens of people happy with an empty statement like "guildleves are no longer the central focus of FFXIV" even though there is nothing else right now.
Like I said in the other post, if they don't add some sort of adjustment to another part of the game or add something else for leveling, all leveling the game is going to grind to a stop and it will probably end up killing off the player base other than the casuals just like it did in ffxi when they introduced abbysea. Either way I am going to congratulate them now, if they do it right then good job for giving us more freedom on how to level, and stopping the monotony of guild leves, and if you fail, good job on burying the game.
Guild leves wont be the central focus anymore because nerfing the sp gain they yield is a sure fire way to make people not care about them.
So since guild leves were 90% of the current party play in game, how they hell are they expecting to replace that? With a 60 minute dungeon? I dont think thats gonna work.
It will definitely take some adjusting, getting used to more solo style Guildleve content. I hope Guildleves are still viable in parties, as I play this game about 70% of the time in groups. The only things I do alone are the story missions, and some questing. It's quite common that I will get a small group and travel to Limsa, Ul'dah, or Gridania in order to partake in the quest content. I just enjoy group play, and I prefer Guildleve parties to grind parties. It doesn't take long to burn through 8 Guildleves when doing things solo.
I am reserving my real judgements though, until I see it in place. I'm even willing to wait until 1.19 to see the fruits of these bigger changes once they are completed. I'm trying to think bigger picture.
To accommodate this change, factors such as recommended/actual rank disparity, completion time, and partial participation will be made to influence the amount of points yielded.
I hope this will nip it in the butt the auto-follow crap that goes on. :D
