just wondering why SE decided bard to use bow instead they can do Songs and looks more epic and different , i am sure they could do it , but was it no time to change the original idea in the old ff14 or just they have better ideas for ranger ?

This guy is the reason BRD's use bow. It's Final Fantasy history. Not exactly the best link since he's not using a bow this early, but I couldn't find anything of him later on.

ah make sense, <3 keeping the tradition , u know it will be awsome to see a guitar XD electric one shooting thunder from it , or sonic waves to make mobs diff kinda DoT debuff , something cheezy like that lol .
all in all I am happy with the current bard would love to see more stuff later levels like that -

I just want more use of songs on bards. While I do enjoy being able to damage on a bard in FFXIV (XI was mostly pure supportive) Playing bard as a ranger in FFXIV is not that much fun. Make a Ranger, and make a Bard. Just make each of them unique.

Personally though, I still don't get why so many RPGs (both video games and table top) give bards bows.
Yes, bows and stringed instruments involve strumming strings but that's kind of a stretch, I mean, I don't think playing a guitar teaches you about aiming or learning archery teaches you about notes and sheet music. -

I like that Bard uses a bow, or rather that it can deal damage, but I do wish Bard had more of a support role. Not necessarily only support as Bard is in FFXI, but more like Corsair in FFXI. I imagine that there will be more support classes in the future and hopefully Bard will be made more for support then. I also suspect there will be a "Support" slot for players in the Duty Finder or Party Finder.

I think the idea is you have to be dexterous to play an instrument as well as use a bow. The idea of a bard using a bow is in just about every mmorpg I can think of except a couple where they actually use instruments. It might just be one of those things that became a trope.

Bards weren't implemented like this most likely because that's EXACTLY how SOE did bards in both EQ1 and EQ2.
Square chose to go with a class class type setup: tank, Healer, DPS. there is no genuine support class type. So bards in this game are relegated to being dps. Unfortunately i have no great words of wisdom on how to resolve this or what the heck SE should do if/when they decide to implement a ranger class. I am going to go out on a limb and guess that they will never release a player useable ranger class. Yes... yes i know there's a ranger in the Thornmarch fight. I guess they could do something similar to SCH and SMN, i could see the RNG branch off the Archer class simple enough. But to what end? Make rangers more single target focused... similar to how paladins are better at being single target tanks? Possile i guess. Maybe they could put in a thief class as a support class (take to L30) to make archers into rangers. THF could then evolve straight to ninja (similar to pugs into monks) i guess as their primary job upgrade.
