PLD and aoe hate.

I have only played warrior as far as tanking goes. In my free company static we have several derp PLD who try to tank for us when i go dps.

Somehow, they lose hate on spiders in phase 1 and 4. To me it doesn't seem difficult to hold them. However every other attempt the blm or whm gets nommed in the middle of the phase. What are they doing wrong? How does pld keep aoe hate without overpower?

Pally AOE rotation is pretty much Flash>Flash>CoS>Flash>FB>RB>Flash>FB>RB>Flash>FB>RB>Flash>FB>RB>Flash>FB>RB>Flash>FB>RB>Flash


Aggravating to be sure, but doable... Depending on your tanks maybe give them a sec or two to get a few extra Flash off before digging in with big AOE... Sucks for P4, but it is what it is if thats your makeup.

Flash>CoS>Flash>Rampart>Flash>Flash>Flash>Fast Blade>Flash>Riot Blade>Flash>Fast Blade>Riot Blade>Flash> then FB/RB the fight HP spiders tossing in a flash when they can. They should make sure they have at least enough MP to toss 3 flashes in the next phase and 2 in the phase after, then they need a full MP bar for phase 4.

They either need some more experience holding AE hate in general or they are not managing their MP well.

In T4 spiders, what i usually do is go from full to zero spamming flash, then i start spamming riot blade comboed to refresh mana for next phase. I use another flash or two before the end of the phase depending on blm hate, and CoS when available obviously. Pretty simple.

That being said, any blm that goes nuts right away with flare is going to rip the hate off the tank faster than you can shout "NOOB". Any melee dps that decided he had a personnal grudge against that one particular spider is going to do the same. In both case though, it's on them, not on the tank.

I laughed hard ^^ It happened ONCE with my static. I think the BLM is cured once for all, and now he flares only for an overkill on bugs

Lucky...I had to count down from 5 in vent after P4 started to get our BLM to lay off AE spam to give our tanks a sec to get aggro o.O

It doesn't seem difficult to you because you're a WAR, and we happen to be blessed with the amazing AoE enmity tools Overpower and Steel Cyclone.

As to the PLDs, as long as they're spamming Flash, they're doing their jobs correctly. I expect, actually, that it's a problem with your BLM/WHMs not knowing how to throttle their enmity generation (I can only imagine that those WHMs rip aggro by either overhealing or spamming Holy) since both of them are able to generate enough enmity to easily rip off of a PLD if they're not paying attention (I've actually had a BLM rip a couple targets off of me as a WAR when I was doing AoE aggro while throttling my TP consumption when he got some crits), especially if the BLM is blowing CDs and dropping Flares.

I'm actually surprised that your group isn't having you tank the spiders in t4 since the insane AoE enmity generation of a WAR allows for the DPS to let it rip without having to worry about enmity. The slight loss of DPS from the WAR being in Defiance is *more* than made up by the DPS being able to go full throttle.

I could be totally wrong but I think he was saying when they go on alternate jobs.

One thing I found really helps is to split up the two tanks to run left and right. One will flash the three spiders on the left, the other flash the ones on the right. Then they cross path each other so that the spiders are between the two tanks, proceed to flash till empty then riot blade to regain mana. I've never lost aggro since.

on P1 and P4, if WAR spamming OverPower, there is no way in HELL PLD can catch up in aggro w/ flash.., might as well stop flashing and start killing spider. lol. (BTW my group has BRD play Army Peon for these phase as we have BRD and DRG)
you only need 1 tank to tank those spider anyway, this will free up 1 healer to dps for a bit.

Shield Lob -> Flash -> CoS -> Flash spam -> RB combo if needed

All you need to know about PLD AOE enmity. If you have WAR/PLD, obviously the WAR will be tanking the spiders, but with PLD/PLD you'll want one AOEing and one RoH comboing everything (+ his own CoS) - that way damage is split pretty evenly and no back and forth aggro happens.
