I remember being very excited when I first saw this in the FFXIV: ARR cutscene. I know it's what we in-game see as our inventory grid, but I wonder... :o Have the developers considered giving us the option to toggle on/off a backpack on our character to see? It would be so awesome to be able to see it on my back >_<!!

I don't think it'd be very different than how the shield looks on a character's back. Maybe make it so that toggling backpack on toggles weapons (on the back, so staves, shields, great axes, spears, etc) off of the character?Quote:

You just made the post I was thinking about for the last week off and on. I really want a backpack. Seriously. I am not lying. I feel really bummed out when I can't see my adventurer have one. I also am a huge fan of the old trailer that shows adventurers walking into the adv guild with backpacks on while the others sit at the table and discuss which leves they will go for next.

It's a great trailer of some classes kicking butt before jobs were even thought of being in the game.
I was trying to think of a way they could implement backpacks without too much trouble. I was thinking they could attach them to a chest piece that could be part of a adventurer looking vanity set. Preferably the vanity set would be dyeable so people could have a way to make it more personalized. It would be nicer if there were back pieces of course but back pieces would clip through most gear.
If there is a way to do this at all, Please give us an adventurer vanity set that has a backpack! Please, Please! <3 -

My best guess is that since fisher has no secondary tool, maybe the chair will be an off-hand tool to equip, just for cosmetic purpose. Maybe they could also make an off-hand backpack equipment? -
02-22-2014, 08:49 PMEnkidohThat scene was actually from the version 1.0 opening movie, found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag2cRTU-Og8 , and it should be noted a great deal of what was shown in that scene was never actually implemented in even 1.0 - aetheryte inside the Adventurer's Guild, the actual design of the Drowning Wench ended up looking nothing like how it was depicted in that scene, an elezen adventurer was shown wearing a cape, some of the adventurers clearly have great swords strapped to their backs, etc etc.Quote:

It should also be noted a lot of gear actually has small bags/wallets attached as part of the design though, like the new starting racial armour, so there are kind of examples of characters wearing bags in the game. But not to the extent of a backpack sadly. -

They already make armor and weapons that clip itself and the player model just by standing still... I honestly don't think they'll care if cloaks clip at this point. Though the physics required, they probably won't go out of their way to make it due to PS3 Limitations.

I think if anything a backpack could come if they implemented more inventory space. We could purchase the bag in game or receive it in a quest or something, and instead of equipping it to a slot, we'd toggle it's display on and off.
