Ul'dah, Outside Copperbell Mines -- Functionality -- Daddy Longlegs NM Spawning Point

Frequency: 7/10

When the player is outside the Copperbell Mines and is progressing through the "Support Our Mines" botanist guildleve, he will frequently encounter the "Daddy Longlegs" notorious monster near the logging points. This monster will attack the player as soon as the player is in range, and the player will be easily defeated.

This is incorrect because a botanist-class player should not be forced to encounter a notorious monster in this fashion. The player cannot finish his guildleve with this monster in the area, and this is very frustrating.

Please fix this issue by moving the location of the Daddy Longlegs notorious monster so that it does not interfere with the "Support Out Mines" guildleve.

NOTE: The frequency of this issue is "7/10" because the location of the notorious monster varies; it is not always near the logging points.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Start the game through the installer build.
2) Acquire the "Support Our Mines" guildleve, then proceed to Nophica's Wells aetherial gate:

//dev set <me> warp
3) Start the guildleve, proceed to the area outside of Copperbell Mines where the logging points are indicated, then observe the proximity of the Daddy Longlegs notorious monster.
4) Observe that the Daddy Longlegs notorious monster will often wander near the logging points that the player is using, and that the player will not be able to complete his guildleve after being attacked.

They were supposed to already be working on moving gathering from agro range but i also have experienced this problem of agro during gathering with nothing to do about it but change class and hope for the best.

Oh, I would hope this has been reported internally a long time ago. But I want it written up just in case it hasn't. Because it's clearly nonsense. They just threw this NM in here (as well as in other locations that I'm not as familiar with) without giving any thought to the other potential activities that already occur in the area.

There's not even a good reason for this to aggro on the player like it does. I mean, you could make up an in-world reason, but that shouldn't take precedence over player enjoyment. And if you're a botanist, believe me, you're pissed when this thing kills you.

Heh that would be annoying, I also hear that PoP's area is right in the big middle of one of the leve areas in Mun tay.

Hate to sound negative but both of these are cases of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Perhaps in the future the guy/gal in charge of injecting nm's into the world could take a jog over to who ever is handling the leves and pick there brain a bit.

Elder Mosshorn is a bit of a jerk, too. When doing leves at Nophica, he often likes to stand directly in front of the entrance to the cavern where most of the leves take place.

They really should give players immunity to aggro from regular mobs while doing a leve/behest

Just think of it as "Challenging Content", that seems to be a major complaint on here.

Just echoing the sentiment this is incredibly annoying. Have had this problem a fair few times now, and even when you run and de-agro him, the path is so slim when you try to run back you will just agro him again. Please fix this!

Maybe they shouldn't have made the NMs not repop instantly... LOL

I hear they're going to fix this particular problem. Not by taking the easy route of simply moving the mobs, but by giving gatherers a stealth ability. It still won't help with the other NM spawn point issues there are.

I mentioned a similar issue with Bardi in Nanawa Mines, with the Potters Price leve, months ago and nothing has been done. I see someone has mentioned a similar issue with Prince of Pestilence in Mun Tuy, and of course the spawn of Mosshorn sometimes being in a position where it's impossible to progress with a few leves at Nophica which has been causing people problems for even longer.

'tis a shame they feel the need to dump actual gameplay issues like this into this general trash area of the forums.

For that Daddy Longlegs you can just shout to someone kill it or kill it yourself. He is super weak and you can even solo it :)

It's not that he can't be solo'd. Of course someone can switch from their gathering class to a Dow/DoM to solo him. Then they can switch back to their gathering class & gear then maybe get one attempt at the node before it repawns and it has to be done all over again. It's rediculous to expect people to do this in the middle of a leve on a time limit.

They really should have checked what's going on in a particular area before setting the NMs there. Most of the Grid ones are great, the Limsa ones are almost all entirely out of the way, a good portion of Ul'dah's are too. Seems to be just a few that were put in major traffic/leve areas. Seems strange as some are put out in the middle of absolute nowhere (Pyrausta, Jackanapes) and yet these are put right in the middle of things.

I can now count what the OP said as the 3rd instance of an aggroing nm being placed near botany leve points.

Nest Commander can sit close at one of the leve target points at Camp Horizon. At least doing the leve around ~20, you can slightly buff, and run him away and see if that works. Whether or not you want to waste the logging point then under weakened status so you can move elsewhere is up to you.

Barometz at Bloodshore is the other spot I know of. Barometz is IMPOSSIBLE to move at the same ~20 rank! Furthermore flytrap monsters move probably once every 10 minutes and not a great distance when they do.

You can't kill them if you're still low leveled. Gridania's rank 20 gathering leves are the easiest with no risk to do, but both fishing leves are a 3+ minute walk out of the way from Camp Tranquil. SE needs to move the NMs.

Then ask for help, ask a fellow adventurer to aid you in your tasks. This is an MMO, use that aspect of it. While annoying, yes, but dont remove the only good thing of the game because its a little frustrating, thats the challenge.

And they speak of a stealth skill soon anyway so might do the trick.

It's not really ridiculous. the time limit on those leves is a non-issue normally.
